Customer Service

Best ISP... still – Been with iiNet now for 2 years with HFC Cable (Geelong) and Netphone. Summary of experience with iiNet... 1 service outage for 30 minutes mid 2013, Netphone disconnected for a day about a month after that due to server migration. Internet outage for two days early this year due to someone running a front-end-loader through a fibre cable (this affected everyone in Geelong)... umm, and that's it. Every situation involved immediate customer contact and resolution. No horror stories, no ongoing issues, no poor customer service... beats the hell out of AANET who I dumped to come to them - best thing is this - iiNet even paid my AANET service fee for 2 months whilst churning because OPTUS/AANET wouldn't return my phone number. It is the receiving ISP's responsibility... they paid my service fee to another ISP for 2 months because they couldn't get the number!! I can't think of any other ISP that would do that! Granted, I have only dealt with iiNet/TransACT HFC/Cable so I can't comment on the other arms of the business, but my learned experience is that in Geelong at least, iiNet Cable is the best/fastest/most reliable/cheapest service you can get. $79.95 for 25/5 & 1TB data and a phone? Oh, and the "for now" bit.... that depends on the TPG takeover deal going ahead as this could seriously alter the way this company does business and alter the service delivery.

Update: 10 years later and still going strong. Very few customer support issues. Only one niggle a year or so back when they tried to charge me to upgrade a modem to I could get their advertised speed. That got solved via karma. Now experiencing average 350-500 mbps speeds and still only $79.95 p/m. Noice.

  • Adequate Speeds: Yes
