Greedy culture of Telstra -deliberately set up with unsuitable product – I went into Telstra store with an existing Dongle and asked to set it up with a new sim for short term use whilst on holidays for 2 weeks. Explained that I did this last year and the sim had an expiry date. The girl who served me did not know what product I had used and explained that she could only set me up with a plan that could be cancelled or changed when I needed. After trying to sell me a new dongle/wifi device and a bigger plan we settled on just a very small plan of $15 per month using my existing dongle. It only provided me with 3GB of data. I was disappointed but she said if I needed more I could easily phone in and change plan (not so easy I'm afraid.) I signed up and immediately had to pay $27 which included a month in advance. After a couple of days I found a telstra ad for exactly what I was originally looking for. The girl was a very good sales person and achieved her goal of getting me to sign up for a poor product I don't need. Very challenging to find the time to cancel this as I am going away and am busy. This is the greedy culture of telstra now. They do not have cooling off period because I approached them by going into store. I'm sorry but I am not tech savvy. I didn't have the knowledge before I went in. I thought that the staff would help me get what I needed without trying to dupe me. The girl who served me will be rewarded for ripping me off.
