working almost immediately. They sent me a replacement blanket. The controls packed up after 3 weeks.I would never buy one again especially as I need one as it is winter here.I have now ordered a new one via ebay what I hope is a reliable supplier
An eye opening purchase, this is better than any previously experienced electric blanket – Our old electric blanket did a reasonable job but it was just that, old. What was a soft, fauxfleece covered top had worn down, over the years until… Read more
it was just material covering hard wires. It had fitted sides which was obviously designed with a conventional mattress in mind, we have a pillow-top mattress and the fitted sides didn't tuck under snugly, it was adequate for the job but just barely satisfactory.
*19/05/2024 we purchased our new electric blacket through Amazon Australia.
*28/05/2024 it was delivered & was put in place that very night.
Seeking a replacement was an eye opening experience because I discovered that I must have been sleeping on tight budget-minded, electric blankets for my entire life, 52 years, thinking that electric blankets were all the same and did pretty much the same thing.
Well, HALLELUJAH, I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT! I came across a multizoned, electric blanket, yep, both sides have two zones. One for the body and another for the feet, it has a timer too and temperature sensing cables for fire risk mitigation. The ability to have varied temperatures for body and feet zones is magic.
My first impressions of the Dreamaker Fleece Top Multizone Electric Blanket were even more eye widening.
FOUR IMPRESSIONS IMMEDIATELY STOOD OUT. I'm sorry to say my first standout impression was a slightly nitpicking and negative one. I was glad that I opened the box carefully as it DIDN'T COME WITH A ZIPPERED, REUSABLE BAG FOR STORAGE. I can't rate this electric blanket highly enough, I really do think this to be a very good purchase but as a package it wasn't complete to my mind. My former electric blanket was a much lesser quality one but it still came with a zippered storage bag should the user choose to store the blanket in the warm seasons. This dual zone electric blanket didn't, just a single use plastic covering and a cardboard box which will come in handy should we decide to take it off during our South Australian, outback summer's. This is my only negative comment and I know it's nitpicking, still it was legitimately, my first impression. I honestly felt that for the price I paid, it should've come with a storage bag of some sort.
The second of these four, standout impressions is that it COMFORTABLY FIT OUR PILLOW-TOP, QUEEN SIZED MATTRESS with ample side coverage to fully, amply & properly tuck in under the mattress. As mentioned before, our previous electric blanket was designed to fit a standard mattress but we have the thicker, pillow-top style and on our previous electric blanket, the fitted sides were barely adequate in size, only just tucking in on both sides by an inch or two.
The third stand out thing which I immediately noticed, THIS ELECTRIC BLANKET COVERED THE ENTIRE MATTRESS TOP Comfortably and has a larger, heated, element area. The heated element area of every other electric blanket I've used in my 52 years of life, just covered 65 - 75% of the bed, leaving a bit of room for the pillow area and an unheated area by the feet. I am 6 foot tall and if I fully stretched out, my feet would freeze. This is after making a concerted effort to pull the blanket away from the head, down to the feet area every once in a while but over time it'd migrate towards the middle of the mattresses length.
THE HARD PLASTIC LUMPY BIT THAT CONNECTS CORD TO BLANKET IS STILL HARD & LUMPY but ISN'T LOCATED UNDERNEATH MY UPPER RIBS, ARM OR SHOULDER AREA. Yep It's sited high up, under the pillow and nearer to the edge of the mattress. This was the fourth feature to immediately leap out and capture my attention.
*28/05/2024 I've just fitted it to the mattress and made the bed. It'll be some days before I can use it as we are caring for my 5yo grandaughter, her parents have been parted for a couple of years now, her father is a FIFO (fly in & fly out) worker in the Central Australian mines. Whilst he's at work we care for our granddaughter. Considering she is just 5yo and we're as old as dust, when her dads at work, she sleeps in Nanna's bed and Poppa (me) sleeps in the room shared by her & her father. He works for one week and has the following week off.
*9/06/2024 It's now been fitted and used for about 6 weeks and we love it. For me I preheat the bed for an hour before retiring for a good sleep. When I go to bed, I turn off the body portion of the blanket, have feet zone on with a 6 hour timer. My feet always have been like iceblocks in bed. My wife prefers both body and feet portions of the blanket to be heated but also sets the timer to shut off after about 7 hours (1 hour of which is preheating) . The timer goes upto a maximum of 11 hours, minimum of 1 hour. The 11 hours is a mandatory shut-off for safety. Even if you don't opt to use the timer, it'll still shut off after 11 hours (+ or - 30 minutes). Speaking of safety features, it's got temperature sensing cables. This safety feature blew my mind! Body and feet zones (for both sides) have 4 heat settings in addition to the OFF setting.
The cables are detachable for machine washing, when in a newer condition, our old electric blanket could be used as an underlay, between mattress and bedding. Even in summertime temperatures this fleecy underlay felt like it had a cooling effect on our bedding. This new dual zone electric blanket does not mention this as being a feature of its Fleece bed covering but I see no reason why it wouldn't also serve this purpose. That being said it's unproven, we are in June now (winter) and have yet to go through a warm season with this electric blanket.
One last point, my grand daughter is only 5yo and not able to give constructive feedback, however I can still state how we use it when she is in the bed. She sleeps on my side of the bed, I turn the body portion on & leave the feet area off. She isn't tall enough to need both heated zones and it allows my wife room to cool her feet should she feel overly warm.
Avoid this product at all costs – The cord is too short and it warms unevenly. After 12-18 months it fails to heat at all. Absolute rubbish. Never again.
Warm, snuggly and even saves on heating – I bought my original Dreamaker Chinchilla heated throw two years ago, and loved it so much I now have two of them, my sister has one, and I've… Read more
recommended it to multiple friends. They provide the option of personal heating without needing to heat the whole room, and are perfect for snuggling under when sitting on the sofa or at the desk.
The dreamaker heated throw looks very stylish, a lovely silver/grey combination, with faux chinchilla fur on the top, and a soft silver/grey finish underneath. It feels very soft and warm, and if it's not really cold, I sometimes don't even switch on its heating element, as it is quite warm as a throw rug anyway. It also has a very handy control with temperature setting and timer. In the middle of winter, when it's very cold, I tend to use it at its maximum temperature, and on a three hour timer, so it keeps me warm for hours but cuts off if I forget to turn it off at night. And if I'm at home alone, I often don't even bother to turn on any other heating, it keeps me so warm. It costs virtually nothing to power it, so I save heaps on my electricity bill this way.
The power controller is detachable, so I've washed the heated throw in my washing machine with no problems.
The heated throw works best to keep you warm if you tuck the edges under your body, so I have it sitting on my lap and legs, with the edges tucked under my backside and legs.
All in all, I would highly recommend this heated throw, particularly for people who are at home all day, or sitting a lot, as a way of keeping warm and comfortable without needing to use expensive room heating.
Mattress topper rip off – We are very disappointed that this so called mattress topper is no more than a fitted sheet. The picture on their web site shows a bulky topper - it is not. Feeling ripped off & would never buy from such a deceitful business again!
