A Big No for Poly Water Tanks – Poly Water Tanks were contacted regarding purchasing 2 x 25,000-litre poly tanks, these were to be used to capture overflow from our existing water… Read more

tank. I sought advice on the height of the overflow outlet, Poly Water Tanks confirmed it was 2260mm height overflow outlet, however upon installation of the two tanks, the actual height of the overflow for the tanks was found to be 2370mm. The outcome is these tanks are useless to me, cannot be connected to my existing water storage supply and I am down $5800, money I am not in a financial position to waste. I was very clear in my communication and even sent them a clear diagram seeking confirmation of the height of the overflow outlet, and they were similarly clear in confirming that the 25,000l Poly Water Tank had a 2260mm outlet height. They have no clue about the product they sell and blamed the CAD drawings for the error, and also said others were having similar issues, yet it appears they continued to provide customers with erroneous information. Poly Water Tanks advised they would remove the tanks, provided they were placed where they were delivered. I live on a rural property, and this would require four burly blokes to push them up a 45-degree incline. Human resources is something I do not have access to in a rural area. This would also require pumping the existing water out of the tanks which was put in them to hold them stable, given we have very gusty winds as we live on the top of a hill. I do not own a water pump for this purpose so another added expense. They also suggested drilling a hole lower down in the tank, a pointless exercise and I wanted the larger capacity, otherwise, I would have purchased 2 x 22,500-litre tanks. Their final hoorah was to suggest putting in a bilge pump, between the existing tank and their tanks. This would require laying power for 150 metres, something they went silent on, and also useless, as you generally lose power when there is a storm, so the transfer would be inoperative, and the excess water would risk damaging and stressing my existing tank. Unlike Tank World, Poly Tanks simply dump the tank and run, whereas Tank World help you move the tanks to their final location and install the outlet taps. With Poly Tanks, you are left to your own devices to move, install and connect the outlets. Communication is non-existent with Poly Water Tanks. We were given no warning when the tanks would be delivered, it was only after I enquired on a Wednesday for the delivery date, that I was informed they were coming on the Friday. I had to hastily get the site prep finished by a company, at a huge extra cost, to be ready for the delivery. So it is off to NCAT now, this hopeless company is one to give a very, very wide berth, they cannot be trusted and it has cost me a small fortune.

Tank roof caved in on delivery, ages to replace with no compensation – On delivery, the tank roof caved in and the tank needed replacement. Took them another few weeks to get replaced. In the mean time, we had 60mm of rain and they offered no compensation for the loss of water. Stay clear from these guys.

Never buy from them again – First, as a layman I lost confident for their water tank. I think their water tanks are inferior products. Bought a 3,000 ltr slimline water tank… Read more

from them through Bunnings Warehouse few years ago. It is leaking along the seams line under warranty. They sent a guy to plastic weld the holes. It leaks again on other part of the seams line. So basically the whole tank is useless.

Second, their service is very poor. Bunnings gave me a wrong 1800 number to contact for the warranty. Since the number was not from where my tank was shipped from, so they wouldn't find my record. They never called back. I have to trace them many times and insisted I have an answer then they told me they didn't have my record. Eventually found the right number to call, again they never called back. I have to trace them frequently for a result. This incident told me that not just one of their center or warehouse or whatever has the same problem ignoring customer. All of them probably ignore existing customer's calls.

Third, terrible communication. Eventually they agreed to have a warranty replacement and sent me an email telling me that to ensure damaged tank is empty and disconnected and place in a suitable area for their driver to collect. Over the phone he said the driver would put the new tank back to the original position and have a crane to pick up the old one. When the driver arrived, he refused to pick up the old tank because it was not on the kerb side. We called them and the guy who told me for the arrangement denied the phone conservation between us and insisted that we have to put the old tank on the kerbside and the new tank will also be put on the kerbside. It is our responsibility to move them. It is totally contradict to what he said over the phone and in the email. If we were told for this before we might have some other arrangement. How can we put a 3,000 ltr tank on the kerbside waiting for them to pick up? It is impossible to move the water tank by one person. City Council will not be happy for leaving a big tank on the kerbside so do the neighbours. How can we arrange and pay people for the whole day wait for their new tank arrives. The labour charges will be huge and not worth to have the new tank. They haven't drilled the holes on the new replacement tank.

We decided to return the tank to Bunnings for a full refund. Never and never again to buy from them. They lost a customer forever.
