compelled to review it due to my love hate relationship with it.
I love using it, I love sleeping on it. It's a great bed frame. However as a renter, I hate moving with it, and reassembling it. It is an absolute nightmare to reassemble. Not assemble, which is fine, but re-assemble.
The initial first time assembly is fine, you have the plastic slat holders which slot into the frame with the slats already inserted. However, once those slat holders are slotted into the frame, that's it, they don't come out again (without breaking them, which upon reflection would probably be a better option and just buy new set).
What this means is, if you are moving house often as a renter, when you go to reassemble the frame, you have to slot the slats into the slat holders carefully and have them all lined up on one side (and not falling out, I use masking tape to keep them in place) whilst you slide the other end of the slat holders into the other end of the slats.
That part is relatively easy, however when you get to the last set (of 3 sets) of slats, you reach the side of the bed frame. This is where you have to juggle one of the slats staying in the slat holders, whilst lining them up into the other end of the slat holders attached to the side of the frame, and also attaching the side of the frame to the head and foot of the bed frame. What complicates this is a cross bar that sits from one side of the frame to the other. It is infuriatingly and needlessly complex and difficult.
I have moved 3 times now with this frame (and matching sleeping duck mattress, which is gets 5/5 stars and is perfect), and this last time absolutely broke me. I have no plans to ever put this together again. That might mean getting rid of it and buying the newer Sleeping Duck frame, or a competitor, or just paying the movers or airtasker to put it together for me.
Note the first time I had to reassemble this I contacted Sleeping Duck (chat support I believe) and was just directed to the assembly video, which did not give me any tips for RE-assembly.
Thank you for taking the time to provide your… Read more
