Matador Titan 900 series after 5 years – Great BBQ, only 1 or 2 negatives, the rear burner is no good and I need to replace it, it is difficult to clean the fat tray. That being said great bbq for the dollar you pay. Show details
Not fit for purpose BBQ kettle cooker – Bought this Mini Kettle cooker from Bunnings a few years ago. Works fine for cooking a few steaks, chops ...as long as you DO NOT PUT THE LID… Read more
OVER...it absolutely kills the briquettes... With the round lid which has a generous vent covering your food...the briquettes are starved of oxygen and basically go out! Ruined a lamb roast, finding after an hour's cooking time, there was no heat coming from the vent apertures... Despite drilling some extra holes...still no joy. Hopeless piece of design for a promising mini version of a Weber type kettle.
OMG. Chose the Pro over the Standard, and it is worth every cent. Henry from Victor Harbour Bunnings was awesome. He did the lot for me. Fuel,… Read more
Matador temp probes, rubs, cover, cleaning gear, smoking wood, trays and basting gear. Took his advice and cooked the most incredible spatchcock chicken I have ever consumed. Tender, so juicy, and oh the flavour. Next night pork chops and insane roast spuds and pumpkin. Kept steady temp during the whole cooking process with very little escaping smoke. The stainless racks are so easy to clean, the enameled interior just wiped clean. Lining the water pan with foil and leaving it dry, made cleaning a sinch. Am truly blown away with this extremely well made product. Beats the competition hands down. Just Brilliant.

DO NOT BUY A MATADOR BBQ. THEY ARE VERY POOR QUALITY. We purchased the BBQ in December 2022 from Bunnings, replacing the BBQ that we had for over 20… Read more
years. We barely used the BBQ, bought the more expensive cover to protect it only to find that within 2 years the plates were rusted and unusable. 2 of the 3 plates were replaced after initially being told that the plates were not covered under warranty. - The original grills rusted and were replaced in 2024. - The replacement parts have now also rusted, despite the BBQ being used infrequently, kept covered at all times, and being otherwise in excellent condition. I contacted the supplier and clearly and explicitly requested a refund and asked that replacement parts not be sent. That request was not acknowledged — parts were sent regardless.
I also specifically requested the parcel be recalled before it was delivered. That request was also ignored. The replacement parts have now arrived. We have not opened the parcel and do not intend to. We do not accept this as a resolution to our complaint. We asked that they arrange collection of the parcel at their cost and at a time convenient to us. They have ignored this request as in their mind the matter is resolved.
Their response attributes the rusting to insufficient oiling and moisture build-up, effectively placing responsibility on us as the consumer. We have followed reasonable care of the product. The fact that this is now the second occurrence of the same fault — affecting both the original and replacement parts — strongly suggests this is a product quality issue rather than a user maintenance issue.
They also characterised this as a "minor fault". A BBQ that cannot be used due to rusted cooking surfaces is not fit for purpose, and we do not consider the repeated failure of the same components to be minor, particularly given the limited use the BBQ has had.
They have not addressed the fact that the burners underneath are also rusted and that we do not want rust blowing onto our food.
Don't buy because of the smoke box – I am sure there are some good features. I bought it because of the built in smoke box but it is absolutely useless! Show details

and they are really messy - lets face it.
Ash, charcoals, bark, small sticks and general detritus from the firewood usually ends up everywhere. Not to mention the task of cleaning out the ash every week or so.
Enter the Matador Ash Vacuum.
You turn this thing on and literally just suck everything out of the fireplace that will fit down the tube! a little work is obviously required to move the remnants of the fire out of the way to get to the ash and smaller pieces of charcoal but its not hard to do with one hand while you suck out the ash with the vacuum in the other. and it beats the hell out of using a dust pan and brush and does a much better job.
Best part is once you're done with the inside of the fireplace - you can go to town on the outside and clean up all those other messy spots, under the wood holder, the hearth, and the whole outside of the heater where dust and ash settles.
This thing was cheap enough (60-ish dollars from Bunnings) and for what it's designed to do - it works really well.
It doesn't have any wheels, or a long cord, or any fancy attachments what so ever.
But it does a fantastic job of cleaning your fireplace. I wish I had have bought one years ago...
Probably not a great choice – We purchased this to use at a holiday home and we’re looking for something not too large and a known brand. We did a little research but couldn’t… Read more
find any of this specific model on display. That was a mistake.
Assembly was a little tedious but not too bad. The instructions were a little lacking but we got there in the end.
The design has a number of flaws.
Firstly, the cooking area is comprised of 1 hotplate (which sits in the middle) and 2 grills (sitting on each side). There are 4 largish drain holes on the grill and it is VERY easy to lose items down them while cooking. We expected that ½ the cooking surface would be a hotplate and ½ would be grill. The ⅓ hotplate is just adequate for preparing a meal for 2 people.
Secondly, the front of the BBQ is covered by a plastic sheet which seems to serve no purpose other than to advertise Matador. It prevents easy front access to the bottom shelf. I am considering removing it.
Finally, and mostly due to the aforementioned plastic sheet, to turn the gas bottle off you need to reach down and around it. Don’t try to do this immediately after cooking as you WILL burn yourself unless you are careful.
This BBQ produces inadequate heat and/or does not distribute the heat evenly to use to roast a chicken. The inbuilt thermometer struggles to get to… Read more
200c. I suspect it is inaccurate as even a very small chook takes over an hour and a half to cook (I use a bluetooth temperature probe to monitor doneness). Critically the chicken does not brown AT ALL so although it is cooked it looks really unappetising as the skin remains a pale pinky white.

then the next one went faulty after 12 months. Took this back to bunnings and they refused to refund or exchange. They said I need to go online and register a warranty claim with the manufacture. Now that has been done and after two weeks they said they posted me a thermostat and will be in touch, well I'm still waiting. Bunnings has not upheld their published return policy and the manufacturer are just taking their time. Don't buy these they are rubbish. I would not buy products from bunnings anymore that aren't tools or or hardware, they do not keep their return policy. I will be making a complaint for false advertising.
