who knows me knows I’m a bit of a geek when it comes to electronics and hi-fi gear — and, admittedly, I have far too much of it. I’m certainly no stranger to setting up complicated home theatre systems.

I actually bought this player specifically to play 4K discs, after reading the reviews and expecting it to do exactly what I needed in my dedicated cinema room.

Instead, it has been the biggest headache I’ve ever encountered trying to get 4K video working with separate HDMI audio output to my AV receiver.

I’ve tried different settings, configurations and even a new HDMI cable. I’ve also gone through the usual troubleshooting, including turning off Viera Link and various other HDMI control settings.

The biggest issue is that I simply cannot get the player to force HDMI audio output to Audio only. It just will not do it. The result is that I can’t get the dedicated 4K video connection to handshake correctly with my Samsung 77" OLED.

And honestly, I’m sick of it. Now editing this and the rating up a little I won. However it took alot googling and reset the player and cleared it's cache. Went through a step by step and wrote down all the settings from another Ytube and persisted for another hour.

Five hours of trying different settings, cables and configurations for something that should just work is ridiculous. I’ve got plenty of electronics and hi-fi gear and have configured plenty of complicated systems over the years, but I’ve never had a player give me this much grief.

For something I specifically bought to play proper 4K playback to my cinema room, I have to say I’m extremely disappointed.

stopped working. All the Panasonic devices I have previously purchased have been brilliant and the DMR-BWT460GN which has most of the same functions of my old unit, looked like a good replacement choice. However, after operating the DMR-BWT460 for a few hours the outer case of the unit gets too hot to touch. Not sure if this is normal or maybe the fan is not working. I live in an apartment, and to be safe as the pvr has no legs, I have placed temporary spacers underneath to allow ventilation and I manually turn the unit off before I leave the apartment or retire for the night. Not exactly convenient. Does anyone have the same experience or can give me some advice on how to adjust the DMR-BWT460GN to resolve the heating problem.

Customer Service were not able to resolve so I decided to leave it turned off ♨️

some USBs will play while others won't. The USBs all played on the Panasonic; but Verbatim & Emtec no longer will, although they still all play in the car & through the TV. SanDisk is the only one still playing thru the Panasonic

Netflix movie and will most definitely on the second movie. The fix is to reboot the Player from the main switch. I expected much more from Panasonic.
