SMEG by name but not by nature! – Very disappointed with this cooktop! I'd love to give a glowing review but I can't. I bought it for the Smeg name and chose this as it was low set… Read more

and wanted it sunken into our new timber kitchen bench so it wasn't always in view. I have definitely regretted my purchase as I can only use 2 burners at a time due to its diamond shape. The designer was clearly a male who doesn't cook with a frypan or wok! I also found that the printing on the knobs almost rubbed off (like another review I've read) after less than 2 years of use and had to get a replacement (which is only marginally better) even though I'd not used any harsh abrasives. Dealing with Smeg was not an easy process either. I was surprised as I bought SMEG because of the supposedly good name for their quality but I'm sad to say that I am disappointed with my experience and would be very reluctant to recommend SMEG to any of my friends. So be warned! My only positive was that The Good Guys at Robina were awesome during my negotiations with SMEG and very understanding.

My SMEG CIR93AXS 90cm cooktop came with my new build just over 3 years ago and has been nothing but trouble since the beginning. The auto ignition… Read more

sometimes doesn’t work and then other times it works straight away. You have to hold down the gas lever for ages (30 seconds or more) and let the igniter still keep clicking away for it to continue working otherwise it does not ignite. Then the gas will just go out mid-way of cooking, it is so frustrating. This happens across all the burners. It has now come to a point where it won’t ignite at all. My advice is to stay away from SMEG cooktops! I had left a review on SMEG’s website but has since been deleted so now I wanted to share my experience.

Constructive feedback 6 burner stainless steel Dolce Stil Novo – Looks great until you use it. Unfortunately the titanium trivets discolour and look disgusting. Spoils the entire aesthetics of this pricey… Read more

appliance. Have contacted Smeg to get manufacturer do something about the finished look of material used for the trivets. Not yet resolved. First issue was when 1 element would not work, replaced. Have got a Black Glass one now which camouflages the discoloured trivets. The technical team have been great to resolve issues. Another bit of feedback would be to put smaller elements to the rear so larger pans/pots fit without being close to the wall, needs reconfigurations. To many parts to clean...got better things to do. Due to cut out size in benchtop, cannot be replaced with different brand cooktop. Want the stainless steel look, what was originally purchased. Still waiting. Has been too long. Delays due to covid supply issues should surely be better now. Hope this issue gets the right attention this time. Please!!

Poor quality – I bought this product as I was looking for a cooktop with deep tray. The product was installed in my new kitchen seven months ago and has been… Read more

sparingly used. Due to COVID restricitons i have not had large parties or entertained. I am a single woman and therefore dont cook large meals either. Within the first few weeks - the steel at the rear started turning a pale yellow due to the heat from the rear burners; the body scratches very easily due to the cast iron support. the burner rims have got a burnt look... the knob has broken quite easily... I am some one who takes great pride in the appearance of the home and maintain appliances well... and there have been no cleaners in the house in a few months either due to COVID restricitons...

I therefore consider that this product is of substantially poor quality and am very disappointed with my purchase.

Great Gas Hob but beware of damaging control knobs – We purchased the PSA906-5 a year ago and have had no issues with it except that you have to careful not to drop or bump anything heavy onto the… Read more

burner control knobs. The knobs are metal but sit in a plastic surround that slides onto the gas controller underneath the top. Although durable we discovered that if you accidentally drop a copper bottomed saucepan onto the knob the plastic will snap and will then wobble or worse case not grip the gas controller. Fortunately the knobs are interchangeable and a replacement knob is available from SMEG (approx $40 including postage) In future we will buy a hob that has the control knobs on the side of the burners and not in the front.

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING – We purchased this cooktop when renovating our kitchen. Wthin a few months I contacted smeg and asked about removal of staining around the trivets… Read more

which were discoloured from normal every day cooking. I was told that these should not be put in the dishwasher and they should be polished with a soft cloth and mild soap and water...this did not work of course. Considering the reputation of smeg I was expecting a much higher quality of item. The trivets and the stove cooktop are not made of quality stainless steal and I would not recommend this cooktop....Our previous cooktop was still looking good after 20 years and it looks like we will be replacing this existing item again with something that withstand everyday use.

DONT BE FOULED BY THE STYLE. I am extremely disappointed with this 90cm 6-burner cooktop. After about 20 minutes of use, the control knobs become… Read more

very hot - so hot that I have burnt my fingers multiple times. This is a serious safety concern and makes everyday cooking uncomfortable and stressful. I also find the layout very crowded for a 6-burner cooktop, which makes it difficult to use multiple pots comfortably. When a technician inspected it, I was told the heat on the knobs is "within legal limits" and that I shouldn't use pots larger than 30cm. This was never explained at the time of purchase, and it significantly limits how the cooktop can be used. Basically, I've been told there is nothing that can be done. I'm very unhappy that I'm stuck with an appliance that feels unsafe and impractical to use. I never had any of these issues with my previous cooktop. I would not recommend this product, especially if you regularly cook with larger pots or expect the controls to remain safe to touch.
