This was bought from Harvey Norman to replace our previous Tefal steam iron. The problem with the previous one was the calcium buildup, but this one has a calcium filter. It is lighter, and seems to use slightly less water. Very happy with it.

Worst iron I have ever had. Doesn’t glide at all… it actually sucks the clothes into the iron if it’s too cold or even when it’s hot, regardless of… Read more

the fabric. It also spits water all over the clothes when ironing, so much that you can’t just iron and wear, you have to spot dry them first.

I bought the Tefal Ultraglide Plus FV5844 a couple of days ago from Harris Scarfe to replace my old Sunbeam iron, which I accidentally dropped and… Read more

damaged. When I unpacked it, I was surprised (and disappointed) by how short the cord is — only 1.9m long, compared to my Sunbeam’s 2.5m cord, which was much more practical.

Unfortunately, the cord length isn’t listed anywhere in the specifications on the Harris Scarfe website or the box itself, so I had no idea before purchasing. I should have double-checked the official Tefal website, but I assumed it would be long enough to use comfortably — clearly not the case.

Another downside is the dark blue design, which makes it difficult to see the water level once the iron is in use.

Overall, I’ll be returning this iron for a refund and choosing another brand with a proper cord length. Lesson learned — I’ll be reading reviews more carefully next time.

Tefal make good irons but they dont last – We have had 2 Tefal Steam Stations. The first lasted 5 years which I feel is just acceptable. The second (A GV533) Started Playing up before it got… Read more

to 3 years old. Weve now had it 3 years 4 months and its unusable. That is totally unacceptable quality on a $400 iron. You pull the trigger and nothing happens then 30 minutes later the steam comes out for a minute or 2 then stops again. I rang an authorised repairer who advised me to chuck it. Tefal keep no support parts in Australia, everything has to come from France and its a 3 month lead time. This is terrible when you pay so much money for what I thought was a premium product.

terrible quality – Worked well for the 1st couple of uses. Nice amount of steam and easy to use. After 2 weeks of household use (only a handful of times), rust coloured… Read more

water poured out with the steam - staining the clothes and ironing board. When I emptied the unit of water it was cloudy and rust coloured. Water in the tank was clean, fresh and clear. Contacted Tefal who sent back a cut and paste instructions for cleaning the unit with vinegar and then another cut and paste which included instructions not to use vinegar. Regardless, it should not need cleaning after 2 weeks !! Will be returning
