Racist, rude and lazy!
Racist, rude and lazy! The women were speaking very rudely about a customer who was of another nationality, laughing, belittling and insulting them when they left the store, not realising I was in there and was within hearing distance. Then when I asked for assistance they said they were busy and told me to wait, kept me waiting for ten minutes,
in disgust I just left.
Charlatans! Very rude!
I had a piece of jewellery professionally valued and was then offered 4 percent of its' value by Adelaide Exchange Jewellers. To be clear, that was FOUR PERCENT of the professional valuation!
Bunch of rude, unwelcoming old hags - don't bother soiling your shoes!
these women are truly horrible - they seem to be in the business of repelling business - don't bother going in there unless you don't mind being made to feel like an intrusion.
Women who work there make you feel embarrassed and are rude and abrupt... I didn’t know the quality of the pieces I bought in... that’s why o took them in...
No need belittle me and make me feel ashamed and stupid!!
Very rude staff!
They act like you're bothering them when asking questions. No need to treat your customers that way.
Quality original jewellery
I have been shopping with Adelaide Exchange Jewellers for decades and it is my go to shop for jewellery for myself and family. I dislike the chain shops that stock the same items. The advice of the staff, and knowledge is fantastic.
Condescending lazy self absorbed dishonest embarrassment to bullion sellers
The ladies quoted me a higher price for some bullion coins than their current webpage price. When informed their online price was cheaper, they agreed and lowered it. The excuse was surprising and a warning, they said that the first price was what they had printed out that morning, it was near closing and late afternoon when I wanted to purchase. Not everyone is aware, but the bullion price is dynamic and is always checked at sale and along with their margin a transaction price is quoted 'on the spot'.
I can be sure that if I was selling, the...y would have checked the spot price and made their buy offer based on this. The way the older sales ladies kept talking over the lady I was talking to was also rude, as were the snide remarks and dismissive manner.
never going back
Beware!!! Adelaide Exchange may not give you the quoted buy back price when selling bullion to them. I went to sell some silver bars which I had originally bought from them and was offered a price of $53.00 per kilo less than the price quoted on their website. When this was queried they offered an extra $15.00 per kilo. This was was eventually increased by another $20.00 per kilo, still $18.00 below the buy back price on their internet site. It was suggested that I take this or come back 'tomorrow' and living over an hour from their store ...(Hobart) I took their final offer. How can they quote a buy back rate on their web site & when a transaction takes place offer the lowest rate they can get away with? The next day I rang their head office & spoke to a person called Grace who said she would call me back but naturally they didn't call me back. There is nowhere where you can give no stars rating.
Totally satisfied with the service.
Recently ordered a hard to find book on Australian Coins and Banknotes online from Adelaide Exchange. Quick service, clear communication and reasonable prices. Totally satisfied with the book and the service.
Can’t even give 1 star
Very unfriendly And unprofessional staff at Modbury store, my husband went in to purchase a piece and was met with rude, unhelpful service when he questioned the attitude he was told to f*** off out the store, another salesperson got involved advising him to go back to school as he can’t count , uncertain how they distinguish customer service, will never shop there again
Great range, realistic prices.
A really wide range of jewellery, new and antique. We go there anytime we are looking for jewellery. The prices are realistic, unlike all the other shops. We always find what we're looking for there.
Great place to buy & sell commodities. I bought troy ounces of gold here when gold was at $1,800 an ounce, and I sold it here when gold was at $2,300 an ounce. Staff have always been polite and friendly and given me spot price. Nothing wrong with this place at all.
It's not really a jewellery store per se, and a lot of the 1-star reviews seem to be written by people who've found out the hard way that the new jewellery they bought at Zamel's is only worth a fraction of what they paid. Oh, you went to a Jeweller in a shopping mall and paid $1,40...0 for a brand-new 9kt gold ring with a murky diamond in it that's the size of a grain of sand? And Adelaide Exchange Jewellers only offered you a hundred bucks for it? Well, you got fleeced... but not by Adelaide Exchange Jewellers.
Terrible service. Rude undermining staff have no idea about customer service. Belittle their customers making them feel worthless. Look elsewhere before trying here. Old women with no idea how to speak to customers.
Shocking would never ever go there again.
I would never ever go to this Hobart store ever again, not only was the lady rude but I knew the value of my gold and it was approximately $1500 and they only offered $1050, if I didn't need the money I would of just taken my gold back and walked out in disgust.
I calculated the gold price, have the scales, knew each carat value, so knew what value I had in gold.
The lady didn't do any workings out in front of me, she took it out the back and then come back and said the value.
It should of all been calculated in front of me with her telling the...
Will never be back to this store ever
I will never visit the Hobart store ever again, I had a safety chain put on my Bracelet that was all good but when I picked it up was another matter they quoted me $80 and yet charged me $95, and they way we got looked at us was terrible, my son and I had been to the beach so we were not dressed up to the nines plus my son has a slight disability, the way they both looked at him was terrible, I run a store and would never treat anyone like this ever shame on you

Don't go to the Hobart store ever
I would not suggest buying or selling bullion with them, in my experience they are rude and dishonest. They quoted me a higher price for their silver than what their website had. When I questioned it they lowered the quote and made an excuse that that's what their printed sheet had in the morning, it wast late afternoon when I asked the price. This is not how a professional bullion trade is done, I don't think that if I was selling they would fail to check the 'real time' spot price before making an offer....even their website says 'live prices, according to the world spot market' and are updated every 5 minutes. Very dodgy to quote a price per ounce from over 6 hours ago, which was 'interestingly' higher than the current price on their website....
