Hi, we have a fuel leak from the side of the carburetor and I was just wondering if this is an easy fix with a new seal or will we need to replace the whole carby? Thanks Jason

Hi. we have this generator and we wanted to use it to charge our solar batteries but every time we plug this into a transfer switch it trips the 15amp rcd on the generator. we have had 3 generators in the past and none of them have done this and they were cheap power built generators. any ideas ? thanks.

Hi, we used the same AEG generator with a Latronics Automatic AC Transfer Switch (to run the house instead of the inverter) or it ran a Stanbury 48V 60A battery charger. The difference between the AEG and the cheap generators would be the AEG has an RCD, which seems to be detecting an imbalance somewhere. A possible reason maybe the Multiple Earthed Neutral (MEN) system on your house. Our system is separate to the house with its own earth. There is no earth wire between them so our AEG RCD would not trip because of the MEN on the house. You should talk to your local electrician to confirm if that is the issue. Hope this helps.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. I recently done a lot of research on this and yes you are correct and your answer confirms this for me. It seams to be the multiple earths and the rcd is picking up an imbalance. The solar system is in our garage which feeds through to the house. The garage was our temporary home so i think the solar and the garage are earthed the same( which is where the imbalance is coming from) than the house has an earth aswell. I will talk with my electrician and solar guy and see . cheers.

I had a similar issue with a different generator, which I was using to power the house through a transfer switch. The solution is that the MEN link in the generator has to be disconnected, which an electrician did for me (the link wasn't obvious). This solved the tripping problem. Only side issue the generator can no longer be used to power earthed appliances directly plugged in to the generator.

Hello, what is the brand / make of alternator is run on the AEG generators that are powered by Yamaha engines. And do they have an auto voltage controller / regulator AVR. I asked several staff and they knew nothing.

I can only speak from my personal experience, I've run everything off this generator when I've used it as a backup, my computer, tv, fridge, oven, welder. I don't know whether I'm putting my computer and tv at risk, but so far I've had no trouble. The only down side I've found with this generator is that it is quite noisy.
