Don't use Agoda when going to Hong Kong
We are 2 couples that travelled to Hong Kong 23rd September, 2019. We booked the Hotel Panorama through Agoda some 8 or 9 months in advance because they offered 2 x Superior Gold rooms with included breakfast at a very good price. Final payment was made in full on 26th July, 2019 and confirmation sent. On arrival at the hotel we were allocated standard silver rooms and only 1 breakfast per room, when we went back to reception with our paperwork and advised them that we had paid for 2 x superior gold rooms and 2 breakfasts per room the on duty...manager advised and showed me the booking paperwork received from Agoda's agent, that 2 standard rooms and 1 breakfast per room had been paid for on our behalf, there was a little bit of a heated discussion but the on duty manager then allocated us to the rooms that we had paid Agoda for and fixed up the breakfast issue, he also rang Agoda and let me speak with them. Agoda want us to pay the difference between the standard and the superior gold rooms and they would then arrange for a refund. I explained that I had already paid for the superior gold rooms and they needed to pay the hotel directly for their error. The on duty manager also advised me that this was not the first time they had had problems with Agoda. Over the next 3 nights there was an email war between me and Agoda as they continued to say they couldn't pay the hotel for their error and I would have to pay the difference and then get a refund. I explained many times that it was their or their agents error and they need to fix it. I asked them what amount they had paid on my behalf for rooms below the standard I had paid Agoda for and they said they couldn't tell me due to confidentiality, I am they customer and I wanted to know what they had done. It really ruined our stay in Hong Kong as none of us could relax and fully enjoy ourselves as this was hanging over us the whole time. I will never use Agoda again.
Save your money!!
Paid for a 2 bedroom spa apartment for 3 nights. Instead received a 2 bedroom ground floor, NO spa apartment. Customer service was poor. Made us run around to provide documentation and multiple phone calls where I was put on hold for lengthy periods. In the end was offered $20 refund when the resort told us the difference is $165. Given no empathy or care factor. Will not be booking with Agoda again
I have been relying on motels of late 4 accommodation whilst travelling. Agoda sent me an email claiming that a hotel in the Blue mountains, had dropped from $140 down to $67. I found this rather exciting as it was a nice hotel. However upon clicking on the link and the app opening, the hotel reverted back to $140 a night. This discount was nothing more than a misleading hoax. Upon trying to contact Agoda over this, you can't contact them without having a booking number. There is no possible way of making a complaint. I would avoid this company like the plague. If they intend on sending out misleading crap to my inbox, then they are the ones that will lose out in the end!
Fraud prevention request
I made a booking weeks ago for a hotel in tokyo. The room was refundable till 2 days before arrival. They charges the credit card 10 days before arrival already.
Further to that I have received an email 7 days before arrival requesting a scan of my credit card and photo I.d to confirm is the booking was really "me"
I ring up my own bank and they did not recommend me sending over my details and it's is not the bank who request this check. However the agoda website say it's the bank who request this .
I rang the hotel and they are happy to ch...eck my ID upon arrival. Confirm with the booking directly with the hotel instead and don't believe agoda crap and don't give them your I'd. cancel the booking. Their website will block you cancelled the booking. Just let the due date pass.
Agoda failed to book a room twice "due to unforeseen technical error" & billed me both. Refund clearance time unknown.

Tried again while getting some on the phone help from an Agoda customer service rep.
After a second "technical error", and, at their suggestion, I checked my bank account to see if payment had gone through - it hadn't - the rep confirmed the booking wasn't going to happen
Booked same room on booking.com a few minutes later (for about $8 more).
* Fortunately didn't delete the "technical error' emails, so still had my "booking numbers".
Sunday - two days later, checked ban...k account, saw agoda had billed me for both the failed bookings. In my case "only" a bit over $350, but this process could potentially put one in tight spot. Tried to call agoda - on hold for too long, gave up.
Riverview Hotel in Calamba, Laguna Philippines
This hotel was extremely overpriced considering the location. The pictures of this so called resort were not reflective of what was on offer. Don't bother having the breakfast because it was absolutely woeful, repetitive and insufficient. They provided flavoured cordial and tried to pass it off as fruit juice, what an insult! Agoda app made two u authorised booking under my account with my saved credit card. They refuse to admit to the mistake. The matter is now going through legal.
Don't waste your time with them. Go straight to the hotel and ask for a price match and book your hotel that way. Hotel are more creditable than the asian run Agoda company!!!
Big scam!!! It said free cancellation and pay at hotel. Right above where it asks for credit card details it had said your account will not be deducted at this time in green letters. I thought they would deduct money once I got to the hotel, but nope after a few seconds it had been deducted from my account. When I called them they said I should have read the conditions, I told them I had and this is what it had said they told me I should have taken a screenshot before making the payment.
Usually on Agoda, if you go to a hotel you would still b...e able to view the rooms and deals that was offered before and see what conditions they had it for, but when I went back to look at it, they had dissabled this function for this hotel. They did agree to make the cancellation, but made it sound like they moved a mountain. Now I have to wait upto 30 days to get my holiday money refunded back to me. Didn't receive any apologies was just basically told I'm lying and I should have taken a screenshot. I pointed out they hadn't even apologized she said sorry you feel inconvenienced but it's not our problem.

Agoda booked an inferior room to what was paid for.
Booked a particular suite at a hotel on the Agoda website and agreed to the rate quoted. I received written confirmation.
Having read the reviews on this site I emailed the hotel direct to confirm the room type.
They informed me that Agoda had booked an inferior room not a suite like I booked.
There was a substantial cost difference.
It has taken 3 phone calls and 5 emails to get them to correct their “mistake”.
I am still waiting for them to book the correct room and update “manage my booking”.
Suffice it to say I will never be using this company again as they can’t be trusted.

Agoda does not publish negative reviews in a timely manner (sometimes even not at all)
I have always written reviews of very place I have stayed at using Agoda up to this point in time. I do a lot of travelling and have used Agoda for many years. I have noticed a definite trend whereby good reviews that I write appear very soon after posting, but negative reviews do not. My most recent negative review (for a property in Japan) still has not appeared after two months of waiting. Other negative reviews have taken at least a year to appear (way after I stopped checking for it). I have taken the time to contact Agoda about this ...(maybe 1 year ago), but I did not receive a reply from them. These days I certainly do not trust the Agoda review system and have decided to stopped wasting my time by contributing to it. If I do have to use Agoda to book a specific property I only consider booking properties with a 9-plus rating. From personal experience, I have determined that any rating less than this is effectively meaningless and it can actually result in a seriously unpleasant stay.

Does not honour price match guarantee
Site reverted to US currency mid search making it appear cheaper than other sites. Didnt realise until booking was confirmed, accept thats my own fault, however contacted Agoda regarding their price match guarantee. They sent me a list of conditions required to be met and I provided evidence requested. They then refused, listing a condition which had not been, and is not, stipulated on their site.
Refund Take 15-30 business days
I booked accommodation for one night as a gift. I needed to cancel it which was part of the policy that I could. I canceled within 24hrs, the money was taken over night and I have been advised 15-30 business days to receive a refund. Thankful it's only one night accommodation imagine if it was a could of thousand dollars. Don't feel this is acceptable when not stipulated in any of the T&C never again

Horrible customer service, side with the hotel.
Arrived at the hotel booked through Agoda and was given the wrong room. There was multiple options available when booking and I didn’t book the cheapest room but was given the cheapest room when I arrived and told they are the same room by the hotel. Complained to Agoda and after a couple of emails with 24hrs between each I am now 3 nights of my 4 night stay in the wrong room. Agoda are siding with the hotel and not seeing the problem. This isn’t the first time I’ve had bad customer service with Agoda but will be the last, not booking any more rooms with them!

Great service :) My booking was made and cancelled with no issues. I have received my receipt of funds transferring already and think this is a brilliant company should you need to book a hotel.
site double booked
due to a fault message as i was booking with this site it has double booked me. i have canclled one but can,t contact agoda, they will not replay to email or phone so i can be refunded for second booking .do not book with them

Duplicate booking payment due to their system error and no intent on refunding
I booked accommodation through their website, using PayPal as the payment method. The transaction went through fine, and then a minute later, it did it again. So now I had two PayPal transactions for the same booking. Contacting Agoda was a complete waste of time as they did nothing, They did not refund the erroneous transaction. They clearly have no business ethics or care about their customers
