13+ years as AHM customer (Home, Car, Health) I was happy with AHM .... Until I had to make a claim for my 2008 car, which had a dents and scratches from a minor collision with an object in the parking lot. been canceled, even though I had sent them an email asking them to cancel the claim as I was ready to fix the car at independant bodyshop.

Fun fact: I got a few quotes from independent painters who said it would cost $1,400-1600 to fix.

Now they are offering me about 3.5 K for and want to tow it away, just because paint damage, the car in a good condition and probably will drive another 5-10 years.

Most likely I will be canceling all my other insurance policies with them and move to another company with a better customer service.

Value fir money – I’ve chosen AHM for my car insurance this coming year because a 10% reduction in premiums was offered for existing health insurance customers. The value was better anyway than my previous insurer. Show details ·  1

I changed to ahm car insurance because my health insurance is with them. The value is better owing to the sliding insurance cost depending on the projected number of kms to be driven during a year. It was easy to do. Show details ·  1

Truth and honesty still pays – I did ring earlier prior to due date of renewal to let AHM be aware of my change of Driver Licence from "Condition S" to "X" i.e. modified/restriced licence now which I guess was in my favour? Similar experience with the car insurance, slow and not helpful, had a not at fault accident over a month ago now, they didn’t want to provide a hire car even though it was a clear not at fault and other party had admitted fault and was happy to take full responsibility, but ahm said they needed to still do their assessments and investigations and… Read more

tried to delay, luckily I know my rights and didn’t bother with organising with ahm and organised a hire car through a third party carbiz the next day and have had that and they have been amazing, still have the car as ahm still hasn’t paid me for my written off car yet their assessor saying I’d have the money in my account by Friday…which is funny because I just spoke to someone wanting to confirm when the payment will be made and they said they don’t provide time frames. Anyway, my car was sent off for assessment and not Ahms fault but just ties into the overall experience of the claim process and it is their choice of repairer and the repair shops they chose to engage in business with, they told me the 16th of July they had to complete the assessment, so I wait until 16th July, don’t hear anything call the shop no answer, texted them and they said that my car(including registration number so couldn’t have been mistaken for another car) is due to have repairs completed by 21st July, so I’m like oh sweet I’m getting my car back, did seem a bit odd that they were going to repair so quickly but figured they must have made a start on it already, the guys said on pick up it’s close to being written off but they will try to repair it, so I go ahead and hand in my notice at work start a new job the following Monday I need my car for, and was all ready to pick up my car this week on the Wednesday 21st July…Monday morning I get a call saying they’ve only just now completed the assessment and it’s a write off…obviously shocked and disappointed as that’s not what I was told the week before, the repair shop told me last week in a text it was being repaired, they obviously were meant to put assessment but for some reason used the word repair so that was poor communication, a massive let down and not a great way to start the week, he says the money will be in my account by Friday but I just had this feeling it wouldn’t be, so I’ve gone ahead and purchased a car out of my offset…low and behold Friday is here and ahm still giving me the run around sending me emails to confirm I’ve collected my personal belongings etc which I’ve confirmed 3 times, each time I speak to them they make out as though it’s in the final stages of the claim but then just keep asking more questions or delaying more, I’ve been patient but a bit over it now. They also cancelled my policy from the date of the accident but didn’t confirm until today that I’m required to pay the remainder of the policy out which is quite a fair chunk, no option to arrange a payment plan just full amount deducted off the claim, so have now insured new car for a higher value to allow for all these deductions in future as when I insure a car for 20k I expect to be paid 20k, not really happy about the rego and ctp being deducted as well as I need to go back to repairer now and collect plates to hand into service NSW as I know they don’t issue refunds without the plates, had same issue earlier in the year with car I wrecked last year service NSW do not issue rego refunds without plates being handed back, should be advising of this on all your prior communication about collecting personal items from the car INCLUDING PLATES to obtain refund on rego & ctp. Told my money is with the accounts team now for final sign off and once that’s done and processed 3-5 business days for bank to process money…will believe it when I see it at this point, beyond poor communication and run around at all stages of the claim process.

Absolute incompetence, took out full comprehensive insurance with a wovi history, they did not ask about it at all, had a hunch and phoned them to be told I was not covered after taking my money. Absolute idiots. Show details

Son has both Health and Vehicle insurasnce after my recommendation. AHM have increased his premium wont offer a discount for lump sum upfront yearly payment or Multi Policy discount as their own web site states and also refuse to vary cover even though car is under secure parking. This together with the absolute lack of value of their health cover sees us both cancelling PS another provider offered same cover for $500 less PA !! Show details

Still carless after months - extraordinarily slow, unresponsive and frustrating experience making a claim – AHM reduced my agreed value by $6,100 without clearly conveying this reduction on automatic renewal. police report reference. -My car was towed after around a week following its recovery. -The initial 'inspection 'and 'sharps removal' took 4 weeks. -I attended the repairer and confirmed the damage in early December 2024. -My car was subsequently towed to a separate repairer around 2 weeks later. -I reconfirmed the damages in early January 2025. I noticed that there was now mould growing in my car. -My car was towed back to the initial repairer. I was sent a very high level stating a mechanical assessment had been completed. I sought further information on my claim on 18 January including an update on AHM's investigation into the culprits and whether they would be pursuing my excess with them, and highlighting that mould was growing in the car and this needed to be addressed. I have not heard back since. -The rims were 'sent off for an inspection' 3 weeks ago. I have called the repairer multiple times for an update on the status of the rims but have been left in the dark.

Every time I have called AHM I have been on hold for over 45 minutes.

Go with a reputable insurer and don't put yourself through the nightmare and sluggish process of dealing with AHM.

I have raised two separate complaints with ACFE about my experiences.

Poor Service rejected claim – Moved to AHM from Youi very good rates and was already with AHM Health receiving excellent service, had an issue with the vehicle and needed some repair work done and lodged a claim, extremely bad experience claim rejected mainly because their mechanic was incorrect about the repair price, quoting OEM parts when they would not be suitable, and somehow reached a quote that was lower than the excess. Courteous and friendly – This is my 2nd year with AHM and I still checked around comparing prices, as I'm still here that says a lot. One other company was about the same price but I didn't have the confidence in them even though I've never had a claim with AHM .I had to phone to change a couple of details and I was treated very well, not made to feel like I was wasting people's time with something I could have done online. Show details ·  1

Terrible experience – have had 2 collisions not at fault , AHM did not repair my car , I still have mechanical issues with my car , they don’t respond to emails , they are rude , and my premium went up by $500 also , I have since canceled my policy and am now in the process of taking it to AFCA Show details

Will let you know after a year – I cant give a review really, as the insurance only started yesterday. I hope I never have to comment on making a claim but if I do, and the companies attitude to that claim will largely indicate my attitude to your company. The policy appears to be good value and was relatively easy to set up with good help from your staff. We have had medical insurance with ahm for a year or so. That is going OK. Show details ·  1

Not a happy customer with increasing premiums – My premium for comprehensive car insurance on the same car, used and stored in the same way, has gone from around $550 per year to around $940 per year over the two years that I have had it covered. The level of cover or what is included has not changed or been upgraded. Price gouging by AHM. Show details
