sent my bank details for the claim payment on 27th January and was advised the payment would be made between the 5th and 10th of February. Again slow but acceptable.

We are now at 2nd of March and I have received nothing. I followed up in mid February and was advised there was a technical issued but my payment was high priority, yet here I am two weeks later with nothing.

To make matters worse I lodged a formal complaint with them in mid February. Their complaints process states I would receive a response in 1 day and updates every 10 days. Guess what - no response in two weeks.

Terrible company, I will not purchase any insurance from them. From all the signals I am receiving they are a failed organization.

Absolute garbage service- Booked a Jetstar flight and insurance, changed flight dates, they did not change dates of insurance, called them 4 days before flight, AIG rep said he would send an updated certificate, Just called again, the day before my flight, said it was still pending a decision! I could have got on that plane without insurance. Bunch of jokers, not sure what country I’m calling for customer service?? Stat away, go to RAA instead. Show details

The airline re-booked me for free to the closest available airport Boston-Logan, MA BOS, and from there I rented a car and completed my trip.

Upon returning I filed a trip interruption claim with AIG. Trip interruption due to weather is a covered event according to the policy. I submitted the letter from the airline stating the flights were cancelled due to weather along with all the receipts that coincide with the trip interruption. As of the date of this review (14 November 2023) AIG has still not resolved the claim. I get repeated requests for "Required Documents: VERIFICATION DESTINATION MADE INACCESSIBLE DUE TO HURRICANE." (That is copied directly from their e-mail.) Repeated calls to customer service and no one can tell me what the burden of proof is that they need. Apparently correspondence from the airline, coupled with every news outlet in America reporting on that hurricane is not enough.

In my opinion, AIG makes their product sounds great to travelers looking for piece of mind, however when it is time to pay a claim they find a way to weasel their way out of it. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

Over 45 minutes over the phone waiting to no answer and can't submit claims online! – It is so difficult to try and get a hold of them, I have called numerous of times and each time waited for over 45 minutes to talk to no one! I have tried 20 times to submit an online claim on different devices, tablet, laptop and desktop computer and it just won't process! Show details

claim on 26 May, but it took months to resolve. In the end, not even half of my claim was accepted — only about $400 was approved, and after the $200 excess fee, the outcome felt like a joke. This was my first time using your company, and unfortunately it will also be my last. I hope you review your claims process so future customers can have a smoother and fairer experience.”

Australia. AIG requested scant information and refused repatriation, without properly investigating the seriousness of the injury or the local facilities and offering no alternative solutions. We were in no position to argue with the local surgeon or AIG so we had to arrange our own medevac with Careflight (who were wonderful). AIG subsequently reimbursed approx. 1/3 of our costs. Do not rely on AIG in your hour of need.

very reasonable claim for food at $40 per person per day for three meals. All of these claims were denied without any sufficient reason relating to PDS. Jetstar needs to review which insurance company they are offering for travel insurance.

holiday, don't book one. You can't rely on this company to do the right thing. After what I saw and experienced through AIG, I understand now, this company cannot be trusted, depended or relied on to act in the consumers' favour. Even in the most extreme cases where consumers have been victims of crimes. Shame on you!

I will never use AIG or Jetstar again – Utterly useless insurance. Jetstar cancelled a whole flight due to "operational issues". Could not rebook with Jetstar for nearly a whole week. Had to rebook with another airline at huge additional cost. Insurance claim rejected as I did not get preapproval and was not covered in the fine print. Not recommended at all – Had a multi trip international policy with Qantas Travel Insurance (AIG). Could not recommend at all. Had 2 simple claims & talk about having to jump through hoops. They paid up eventually but it was self evident that the left hand did not know what the right hand was doing. God forbid if you had a medical emergency. 5 Months for a simple claim – Booked AIG travel insurance due to the connection with Qantas, and have received nothing but continuous problems. Have called numerous times to get an update on my claim, and every time they say the system is down. Finally got in contact with an employee through email who after 5 months of emailing back and fourth decided to stop responding. Rubbish – Would submit with zero stars if I could. Cancelled flight, no alternative with same airline same day. Needed to purchase new flight to get home to children and other commitments same day. Cancellation was due to engineering issues - so claim denied as this is within airlines ‘operational control’. Also denied as time from original departur to new was <6hrs. Unqualified Clowns – Unqualified Clowns! They take your money, service is disgraceful and unprofessional. My claim was denied on basis that I did not put “lost”mode on stolen iPad. Excess relates to each section of claim and they refuse to send hard copy of policy wording, schedule and pDf. Qantas engaged AIG as their underwriter. Go to hell! Show details

Great help in an emotional situation – My husband travelled overseas. While he was overseas his father became very ill. The dr requested that he return home immediately. Aig were very compassionate the process of making the claim was very easy and I provided all the documents required. Avoid at all costs – AVOID AT ALL COSTS! They received all my information, approved for me to get my phone repaired, then once I paid for repairs, turned around and said I am not eligible. Despite knowing all my information and telling me to get it repaired to begin with. You could have told me this BEFORE instructing me to pay for repairs! Now I am out $330. Please avoid at all costs!
