Absolute garbage service- Booked a Jetstar flight and insurance, changed flight dates, they did not change dates of insurance, called them 4 days before flight, AIG rep said he would send an updated certificate, Just called again, the day before my flight, said it was still pending a decision! I could have got on that plane without insurance. Bunch of jokers, not sure what country I’m calling for customer service?? Stat away, go to RAA instead. Show details
Overall, I was very disappointed with my claims experience. While I appreciate that my claim was eventually paid, the process was extremely slow, repetitive, and stressful. I was asked for the same documents several times, communication was poor, and being questioned in a way that felt like an interrogation made the situation harder. I lodged my… Read more
claim on 26 May, but it took months to resolve. In the end, not even half of my claim was accepted — only about $400 was approved, and after the $200 excess fee, the outcome felt like a joke. This was my first time using your company, and unfortunately it will also be my last. I hope you review your claims process so future customers can have a smoother and fairer experience.”
Took the policy out through Jetstar last year. Volcano eruption in Flores November resulted in one extra week stay in Bali. This took us over our 30-day visa and we had to pay for extensions on this visa. We also had to pay an extra week car parking. For food we ate at local restaurants for minimum price but neglected to get receipts. Submitted a… Read more
very reasonable claim for food at $40 per person per day for three meals. All of these claims were denied without any sufficient reason relating to PDS. Jetstar needs to review which insurance company they are offering for travel insurance.
Needed to cut trip short because of high level of toxins in the air in Bangkok. Provided evidence of 3 days Air Quality readings & associated health warnings. Still had my claim for return flight home (costs) denied several times. Won't use this company when travelling to Europe later this year, Japan next year or any other travel in the… Read more
future. RACQ just announced AIG is buying RACQ insurance so won't be holding home, contents car etc with RACQ once policies end.
Trying to make a claim and getting in contact with someone helping was really disappointing wouldn’t recommend using aig, having someone read you junk and not actually doing anything to assist. Show details
A truly regrettable decision – Stay Away! Had the worst experience with this useless company. Completely incompetent. Only bought this insurance as it was linked to buying flights with Jet Star. How they got that contract, who knows…? Call centre in in Asia incredibly difficult to reach via phone, countless hours on call waiting, took days between vital contact immediately… Read more
after injury, finally provided confirmation of only a fraction of the claims they were ‘pleased’ to process. Get insurance ANYWHERE but here!
Worst communication, time consuming – One of the worst travel insurance companies I have ever used. Takes 2-3 weeks per email response. Still waiting 7 weeks later for a straight forward travel claim and still isn’t resolved. Will never use again Show details
5 Months for a simple claim – Booked AIG travel insurance due to the connection with Qantas, and have received nothing but continuous problems. Have called numerous times to get an update on my claim, and every time they say the system is down. Finally got in contact with an employee through email who after 5 months of emailing back and fourth decided to stop responding. It has been 5 months now and they still have not even attempted to help resolve the claim. Show details
Stay away from AIG TRAVEL INSURANCE – Had travel insurance with this company through jetstsr. Decided to increase our trip by aweek before we left. Was told that we needed new travel insurance had to pay again although first insurance policy would be credited back with 15 days. 2 months later was still waiting on refund. Called after 6 weeks, assured it would be refunded. Had to… Read more
call complaints line, finally after 2 months we received our refund. I am sure if I didn't follow this up, we would never have received our refund. I'm sure with everyone's busy lifestyles, they were hoping I would forget about it. Not impressed AIG !!!!
Nonsense Insurance – Nonsense Insurance, do not waste your money. They never return and make excuses and interpret anyway that benefits them in denying your claim. Show details
Unqualified Clowns – Unqualified Clowns! They take your money, service is disgraceful and unprofessional. My claim was denied on basis that I did not put “lost”mode on stolen iPad. Excess relates to each section of claim and they refuse to send hard copy of policy wording, schedule and pDf. Qantas engaged AIG as their underwriter. Go to hell! Show details
Terrible customer service – Will not be using travel insurance with Jetstar who uses AIG. I have used others never had any problems. AIG take forever as too many different ppl handle the claim. Then you get conflicting emails. I’m still waiting for payment 6 weeks later. Really slow at paying out the claims Never again Show details

Great help in an emotional situation – My husband travelled overseas. While he was overseas his father became very ill. The dr requested that he return home immediately. Aig were very compassionate the process of making the claim was very easy and I provided all the documents required. My husbands extra cost for the emergency flight home and lost accomodation costs were reciprocated very swiftly. Show details
Scam scam scam – The most useless travel insurance I’ve ever had. They don’t honour accommodation costs due to flight cancellations. They don’t honour baggage damage costs. BUT they willingly accept money for travel ‘insurance’. It’s a money making scam! I’ll certainly be warning family & friends not to use them. 0 stars for these crims!!! Show details
Scam - do not purchase – This insurance is a scam and Jetstar’s advertising is misleading. At the end of purchasing my Jetstar ticket they offered this insurance which ‘provides for cancellations up to $10,000’. My flight was cancelled, I had to rebook a new flight, put in a claim and it was rejected as AIG don’t cover if cancellations are made by carriers? Is this a… Read more
joke, what have I paid insurance for then ? I would like to start a class action as how can Jetstar lead their customers to purchase this insurance which does not fulfil its advertisement. Please contact me if interested.
Worst insurance ever – Lodged a claim with a stated turn around time of 3 days and 2 months later after numerous follow-up emails they are still not responding! Incredible Show details
Terrible Travel Insurance – I would never use them again, I book travel insurance for 3 people to Thailand. I hadn't to cancel trip as one person had a massive heart attack and was put on no flying by hospital and his parter couldn't go because he had to stay home to look after them. I got medical forms everything and even Jetstar finally refunded after alot of running… Read more
around. Set all information to AIG and they offered to refund just $50 from the $380. Now they don't even respond to emails after a week. Terrible don't use them.
I gave 1 star because zero is not available! – Crooks, to put it quite simply. We took out a policy with AIG through the jetstar website for a trip to NZ. Flights back home were delayed out of NZ to Melbourne and then again from Melbourne to QLD. 2 days of crap and being messed around by jetstar already destroyed our first family holiday in 3 years but then we get thee added crap from aig!… Read more
Filed a claim when we got home, got an email back saying it this matter would be addressed within 10 days. 13 emails, 7 phone calls (hours involved here) and finally we get a claim notification that basically says they are only going to pay for 1 days delay not 2 (despite their policy wording being very clear; (We will pay: 5.1 Your reasonable extra expenses, actually and necessarily incurred, if, due to any unforeseeable circumstances outside your control, the departure of the scheduled transport on which you are booked to travel is delayed for at least 10 hours. 5.2 We will pay up to $250 for each day the delay continues but if you claim this benefit, we will not pay for any accommodation, meal and travelling expenses under Section 4.1.)
Absolute crooks and the biggest mess around ever. Also, impossible to speak to anyone in Australia!
Why is a zero star not an option? – Paid for this crummy travel insurance for my entire family of 4 (jetstar international) only to have it refused because the fine print (certificate provided after purchase) excluded travel claims for cancellations due to "operational" issues. This fine print exclusion was not provided at the time of purchase through the Jetstar website, and if it… Read more
was would I would never have purchased it being a direct flight. Therefore this practice is extremely shady. One, will never again travel on Jetstar and two will never select AIG Travel Insurance, under any circumstances.
Do not waste your money on this con. Rather seek proper travel insurance. I hope this helps other customers caught in the same boat.
Waste of money – 1. The number they provided changed, without any update, and they had to be contacted by email. 2. Asked for reports that required a C T. Scan and blood tests and then waited until we were leaving the country and it was too late. Worse than wasting money is the realisation they have no intention of acting on your behalf. Show details
This is a Joke – I have been trying to get a claim processed for months. They pass me back to Travel agent, who tries to pass me off to airline. It goes round and round. Its like a game they play. The only credit the airline will give is a USA Credit, where the original flight originated. It was originally cancelled by airline due to Covid. However, I live in… Read more
Australia and have no plans to visit USA. The credit they offered expires in 12m.
So i claimed on insurance.
They passed me back to Travel agent for a credit. They offered the same deal as the airline . No good! when i live in Australia and have no plans to go to USA.
So i want my insurance payout. I cant get a response anymore.
No one answers the calls at AIG. Sometimes they answer and dont say anything. Probably to clock up their stats on calls answered. How can they do this???
what a joke they are. Meanwhile im out of pocket for almost 18months now.

Dodgy, poor customer service and wild goose chases – I have been trying to obtain a refund since April for my trip to Europe in July this year, at first I waited it out to see what would happen, when it became apparent that Europe would be off the cards I put in my claim (I bought my tickets in Nov the prior year with full insurance including full cover in the instance of a pandemic). The fact they… Read more
are trying to force me to book a ticket to go on a holiday whilst a pandemic is still underway is grossly negligent on their behalf or I can take the other option where they keep the airport taxes portion of my ticket. Which financially isn't viable for me. At the end of the day, I purchased full flight insurance, they need to honour it. They have sent me chasing for months trying to get released from the voucher by the airline, they can't do it as the airline says it is to do with Expedia and AIG, it's been a nightmare and people's mental health has already been really pushed this year why is a large company doing their best to damage it further? Why are they trying to take money from people during a recession and why are they not honouring the insurance they sold to me? Why do they make it so difficult to discuss or mediate a resolution, they wouldn't even negotiate the amount of money they wanted to take. In fact, they bank on the fact that people will no longer be able to chase them and give up, that is foul. They offered a product, if they can't deliver it they should not have sold it.
Disgusting liars and cons – Took out travel insurance These guys flood you with emails and literally ask you for the same information over and over and over and over and over and over and over! Then every time you reply to their email you are responded with a generic email stating that they received your reply and they will respond to you within 10 business days! Every… Read more
time! They are scammers and just play the game of passing you around the office until you get so fed up you dont bother! We paid alot of money for travel insurance through AIG and we are disgusted to say the least at the lack of care or professionalism that you would expect from a large insurer like AIG! We will NEVER use AIG again and hope that you wont after reading this and clearly so many more unhappy customers!
Waste of money – Jetstar offered a voucher which I cannot use and I had taken out this insurance. My flights were just over $900 and this is the response: Please note that a policy excess of AUD$100 per event per insured person applies to each and every claim made under this Section. The possible reimbursement amount is AUD570.30 after subjected to a policy excess of AUD400.00 I fail to see the value in the insurance. Show details
Never use american companies in australia! – My trip to New Zealand to visit a dying friend, flights were cancelled and after many calls not answered they refused to consider refund as it was not cancelled in time. responded so time passed the due time. Tough Luck! Both companies are American Wotif and AIG DO NOT BOOK THROUGH EITHER ONE! they do not care and it has been a nightmare. Lies and misinformation from both companies. AGAIN NEVER BOOK THROUGH EITHER companies they are not operating under Australian Laws. They are refusing any type of refund.b
