We returned a hire care to South Hampton airport where the woman inspecting noted everything was (in her words) “perfect”. Two minutes after we left she reported the car damaged and over $3k was deducted from our credit card giving us no chance to query the so called damage. Despite our complaints about the dubious and highly unprofessional… Read more
behaviour of staff, Alamo showed little to no care. Given their response we highly suspect this behaviour is condoned, possibly even encouraged. A stressful and expensive experience.
We booked a car from Sydney airport through vroom vrooom vroom (which is fantastic) and when my partner arrived to pick up the car, the guy on the desk said my partner had a black mark against his name and he couldn’t process the booking. I reckon this is from a previous rental where we complained about the misdirections to the shuttle bus to pick… Read more
up the car which put us an hour late. Outrageous! Back on vroom vroom vroom and fortunately Avis had a well-priced car available and no problems. We will NEVER EVER use this company again. It may just be the Sydney airport staff, but we could have been left without a car upon arriving at this airport with no advance notification!!!!
We were given a vehicle with not one but two warning lights illuminated, which was a much smaller car than we had booked. This car was returned to them after two days and we were given another car that also had two warning lights illuminated. The… Read more
cars(both) were not clean and both seemed very tired. I would not use Alamo again even if they were cheaper.
Follow-up · The second car was a CX3 which was what we originally ordered. The two warning lights were one saying it had a puncture and the other was a rear collision alert. The customer service was awful, we were treated like lepers because we dared to complain

Excellent as always – Used Alamo rent a car at Belgrade Airport again. As like last time they were fantastic. Received an almost new Skoda. Whole process was very easy and I had no issues picking up the vehicle and dropped it off.
Pathetic – **Review:** I had a terrible experience with Alamo at Vancouver Airport. Despite booking and paying in advance, I waited over 3 hours for a car due to their car wash being down. The manager was rude and unhelpful, offering no solutions. The car I received was old and faulty, with no working phone charger, making navigation impossible. After… Read more
wasting a day trying to swap the car at another location, I was stuck with the same vehicle for the entire week. Upon return, I was unfairly charged $800 for minor damage that wasn’t properly inspected when I picked up the car. Overall, the service was appalling, and the staff, particularly the manager, were unprofessional and dismissive. I will never use Alamo again.
Grifters! – What ever you do DO NOT USE ALAMO!!! They claimed a chipped windscreen when there was no evidence, then charged me $1,230!!! Use anyone else - Alamo will try and charge you and claim unverified damage. Show details
Alamo -Worst Auckland airport car rental hire – My Flight details were provided to Alamo. Flight delayed and no contact was made from Alamo, they closed office, turned answer phone before closing hours, left me and my 3 year old daughter stranded at Alamo Auckland airport branch which is 5 minute drive from airport with nothing around, with many suit cases and 3 year old in tow. Such a horrible… Read more
experience. Called Alamo in the morning after staying in a hotel and the lady couldn't have cared any less about me and my 3 year old being stranded after arriving in unfamiliar country. I uber back to alamo and find Alamo had given my originally booked vehicle to another person again without any communication. This made an uncomfortable drive being a smaller vehicle they found sitting in the car park! The customer service was soul less so Un New Zealand and just disgraceful. The children's car seats available for hire at the Alamo Auckland airport branch are extremely dirty and I don't think they get cleaned often. I will never use Alamo again and I hope no one in my situation will have to experience it. I have tired to make contact with management on many occasions and still no one will acknowledge this disaster.
Extremely terrible – Originally booked an 8-seater (Kia Carnival) via a third party website (Enjoy Travel . com. au). $60 of deposit was made. I arrived at Brisbane airport. Sorted out all of the payment with one of the staff and another staff came in to inform me of the car downgrade to a 5-seater (Kia Cerato) due to my age under 25 which was not even written on the… Read more
T&Cs provided to me. I was also told the daily rental rate of an 8-seater and 5-seater were the same which was ridiculous. I was also charged $50+ extra mistakenly by the staff which I have requested for a refund that has never happened. I attempted to ring the customer service multiple times with no response. Upon my return of the car, I managed to get the staff to connect me to one of the reservation team members. Her name is [Name Removed]. I was promised to receive an email of my the account receivable amount on the same day of my enquiry regarding the refund of the amount which was charged extra including the daily rental rate (which one of the staff (His name is [Name Removed]) tried to lie to me that they were the same rental rate) and the amount they mistakenly charged me. It has been 3 days and I have not received any email aside from an email asking me to pay $55 extra for the close full fuel which I was informed by one of the staff upon my pickup date. Luckily, I knew this company is a big scammer, so I took a photograph of the fuel tank on the dashboard before I left. My $60 deposit was not credited to the rental rate and they asked me to sort out with the third party which is extremely unethical and irresponsible. Overall. I ended up paying more than twice as much as what was advertised and shown on the reservation with the car being changed from 8-seater to 5-seater without any refund and apology regarding my inconvenience. A big scammer and cheater in car rental industry.

Please DO NoT use the Alamo car rental service. They gave us a wrong key code over the phone instead of texting it since we reached after hours . And they aren't even willing to pay the out of pocket expenses fully which amounted around $500 Show details
Follow-up · They paid only $100 as out of pocket expenses while my out of pocket expenses were around $500+. There was a email in writing to pay $200. But even after follow up there is no response to date When wrong key code was reported they argued saying a.correct one was provided. But had no process in place to email or text the key code Fortunately the vehicle was in good condition when I received it
Follow-up · Just a correction , they paid $170 as out of.pocket expenses instead of $500. In summary it was a terrible experience dealing with Alamo

Just Brilliant – I am just simply blown away by the personalised service, efficiency, honesty and professionalism displayed by Julia Meade and the CSR (I am embarrassed I do not remember her name) who were on the frontline and dealt with my Rental Contract. Contract, Payment, Renewal, Service, Car ALL EXCELLENT. I have rented many cars from many companies… Read more
(personal and business) and I was floored by the speed of service and friendly environment that I was welcomed into it. Both employees totally enjoyed their job and were very honest. I pride myself on 'knowing' people and I find it easy to see through honesty and just 'words'.
I was told of the history of the company and many things that kept me totally interested and completely keen to honour their service by 'staying' with the company in the future. Return business is the key and this is ensured.
In fact, I have many professional friends and acquaintances and I can 100% guarantee that at least three accounting firms and eight close friends I am associated with have or are in the process of booking rentals with Alamo / Enterprise / National Rentals.
In monetary terms, this will account for an immediate 15k+ income thrust and return service (of the very minimum three year cyclical company rental) declared opportunity. One firm has indicated this will mean at least 215days rental of cars per year throughout Australasia.
People are quick to complain and rarely compliment. I find it easier to compliment because it recognises service and actually makes me feel appreciative of those who do more than what is required. These people are often overlooked and I believe that a company such as yours should offer their thanks to these frontline support service workers.
Pass on my thanks and I would like it if they were provided with a gift that is more than a tangible certificate. After all, with the business they have secured in the future in just one interaction with me will mean at least $75,000 worth of business in the first year.
Having been an accountant in my previous career (17yrs), I do have a very solid knowledge of forecasts and the value of such.
So, Julia and friend (sorry, once again), take a bow and take a big thank you. I understand by your nature(s), you both believe it is the bare minimum of service however you two went over and above (x100).
Kind Regards,
One Happy Return Customer
Excellent service – Excellent, organised pick up. We had a flight cancellation and staff at Brisbane terminal helped us out. Will definitely rent from them again. Show details
Gold Coast Manager is a star – After being truly screwed over by Virgin Domestic, I had to return my rental to Brisbane rather than Gold Coast depot. This would normally attract a $220 fee, however Lisa the manager contacted me and asked the circumstances behind the change, she was so sympathetic and genuine, she actually refunded me the entire amount. Lisa, you are a star!

We rented a car from Alamo from the Gold coast Airport Queensland location and returned yesterday with a full fuel tank, I receive and email that all is received and no money owing, Than in the afternoon I receive a notification of a charge on my Credit card for over $150 from the same company, than an email says I have been charged for 33 litres… Read more
of diesel at $4.00 a litre
I rand and was told yes it was a mistake the service station put the incorrect rego number against the fuel purchase.
So, I was told i would get a full refund, however the Salesperson Callem says we refunded less the merchant fee the bank charges and there is nothing we can do about it.
We my question is who raised the invoice for the fuel charge, plainly they could see it was for Diesel and the car I hired runs on Petrol. I travelled under 100kilometers so the car could not have used 33 litres of fuel!
I think the staff at the Gold Coast airport office are trying to cover for their mistakes and won't even offer the full refund or any compensation for the frustration it has caused me and the time to call and email back.
Would it be nice to offer a $300 credit for the next rental or a full refund for their lack of customer service,
regards Gerard
Never ever use Alamo from Gatwick airport UK. They will rip you off, they will find damage under the car which is not visible easily to the eye and charge you for it. have dismissed the dispute. We are to call internationally to chase everything up over the claim. Nothing was sent to is unless we made repeat calls. SHOCKING customer service. Good luck to anyone who tries to get in contact with Alamo after returning your hire car. We rented from Manchester Airport Alamo, UK. from management, only office staff who have apologised on behalf of their management team. Branch manager Conor Sutton and area manager Saeed Musa have ignored my emails and phone calls for the last 3 months. I have given up with trying to communicate and just want to try and warn others before booking with Alamo. Other Alamo/Enterprise branches we had to visit on our trip (due to incompetence and things not being organised so we had to run around and try organise by ourselves) also expressed their frustration with Alamo Manchester airport and were not surprised. We were also promised a partial refund that never came through to us. All I have requested from Alamo is proof of refund, which they’ve been unable to provide. All I can say is stay away. Book with a trusted car rental company.
I would never rent off Alamo again. I have never done anything wrong by any hire company or Alamo for that matter yet when I went to pick up my vehicle, the staff member looked at me with a look of horror and said "I cannot rent to you, you're on the DO NOT RENT list". Do not use these guys under any circumstances
The actual car was nice, however had not been cleaned internally from previous use (i.e finding a rotten banana under the seat half way through the day). For me, this was not the actual issue. The issue has been the terrible customer service after the fact. I have tried to follow up Alamo to discuss this on several occasions to no avail. Would not use this company again.
Experience terrible service from Alamo rentals auckland airport. I paid for a mystery car but was given the cheapest option available, which was more than I had spent. No help from customer service.

Unfortunately this is one star but not due to the local staff involved, more the company policy involved & the woeful communication of ultimately the most important requirement needed to collect a car from Melbourne Airport. physical drivers licence was provided & I followed all pre-checkin procedures. But be warned No card = No Car = No refund = No help or support. As a result I missed my interstate appointment & am out of pocket to boot . Apparantly a week after booking, an email auto generates from Alamo confirming all your booking details (tick) & further down the email they provided a list of "Helpful Hits" where it mentions in small font the need for a physical card amongst the list. This should be THE NUMBER ONE requirement flashing on the screen at the top of the email, not buried down the bottom in company blurbs that nobody reads - especially if offered as a helpful hint...like it's listing things such mundane things as "carry an umberalla on a rainy day". Staff said its a daily/weekly issue they face so WHY doesn't the company improve their communications & HIGHLIGHT this key requirement NEVER AGAIN!!
Good experience – There was a queue (slow) but Jacqui & team at Perth airport were fast, friendly - getting us in our car in 5 minutes. Thanks
Disgusting – Bad company, ask for a thousand dollar deposit and told will be returned on completion of hire. Over a week now and still no return of deposit. Spoke to rude customer service and abruptly told wait min 14 days. Never again will I hire a car through this company.
Absolute scam ! – Absolute scam ! To be avoided at all costs ! The rent fee appears attractive (200 euros in my case) but then they charge you supposed reparations (1200 euros in my case). Better choose another Rent A Car company
Bring up insurance – We got in to Hobart at 7:30 pm and went to the Alamo Service desk. First time renting a car and had a Gentleman serve us. Alamo Ruthlessly Stole My $635 – Alamo are greedy sharks! On July 6, 2024, I had made reservations recently to travel from Pensacola, Florida, to Kalispell, Montana on August 14-18, 2024. Priceline. I was able to get a full refund from United Airlines, American Airlines and Travelodge by Wyndham, but Alamo refused to refund a single penny of the $635 they had charged me (to reserve an economy car for 4-days). My reservations were made 5-weeks in advance. There is absolutely no reason for Alamo to be that stubborn to refund a customer's money. The only reason is plain old ungodly greed. I contacted Alamo and kindly asked them to refund most of my money. I kindly told Alamo that I don't mind paying a reasonable penalty for cancelling within 48 hours, but Alamo refused to cooperate. They kept the entire amount. They couldn't care less about ethics. They horribly mistreat people, financially bullying and taking advantage of their customers. Alamo are ungodly dirty thieves! I will NEVER use Alamo car rental again!!!
Appalling company. Why does it still exist? – Agree with all that said it was the worst experience ever to deal with Alamo. Really wanted to give them zero stars not one star. I second the comment to check your tyres carefully before leaving in your Alamo hire car. The guy that checked our car upon its return to the same place was unprofessional, rude and agist. Suzanne
Worst car rental experience ever – Charged me over $1800 for a chip in the windscreen that nobody heard happen. She then called her boss by phone whos English was terrible So obviously by phone it just was more time wasted. Finally the desk girl went and got someone from out the back. She told me that I must have a reciept for the last fill. Which was obviously lost when the first girl mishandled the book There was a petrol station about 150 metres away So I suggested that she drive the car and fill it and I will pay it She said she cannot drive the cars So I said,ok I'll drive She still said she can't go with customer FINALLY after ONE HOUR she did drive the car to the petrol station The operator put 1 Litre in the tank, then click, click, click on the trigger Obvioysly he must have thought there was an airlock, cos no oene would bring in a car for ONE litre In the instruction booklet, they tell you not to fill above first click Anyway He managed to get 3 Litres in I gave her the money for one litre ¥1.60 So They didn't believe the customer, even after they viewed the fuel guage I asked them to take us to Yokohama station, as a customer courtesy She refused I will not be using Alamo or Nippon Yokohama ever again
