Excellent Lawn Mower – I love easy electric start and self prop. function. Especially good for sloped garden and you would expect from one of those more expensive mowers. Show details
Talk about value for money. !!!!! – Purchased for the advertised price of $79, that's right $79. Got it home, assembled it, fueled and oiled it, cut the grass as good as expected. Told the neighbour, she went straight off and purchased the identical machine. We've both now had the machines for three summer seasons. The fluid levels are always checked before use, it is appropriately… Read more
cleaned before being put away and with other due care and attention there has not been a single problem with the operation of the unit. I can also say the same for the neighbour's mower. I also cut a different neighbour's lawn, so my mower does double duty. I severely damaged the cutting blade on an exposed rock. A quick Ebay search quickly turned up a new blade for $30, Excellent. What is there to dislike about the product ??. I can not believe some of the published reviews -- it is obvious that lack of proper care/maintenance is the cause of many of the 'alleged' problems.
Buy it your on your own! – The lawn mower is a joke. Get a good cut if you only use less than half the mower. Secondly parts are impossible to get and aldi or the manufacturer haven’t responded to emails going back 3 months. Still waiting they never give out numbers and it’s only by email. Says bring the mower back and they will just refund. Pretty much anything you buy tools wise is just a throw away great job for trying to reduce waste. Show details

Best domestic mower I've ever owned – I have a tricky yard with all sorts of obstacles and with self propulsion this mower tackles it all with ease. Easy on petrol and instructions say never empty the oil...I've only needed to top it up twice in 3 years. Haven't needed a new spark plug or any spares until new blades today after 3 years. Starts 1st or 2nd time without fail. Bad news… Read more
is spare parts support is terrible. Aldi have offloaded that to another company whose number is on the back of the mower. When you call you get a long message telling you not to abuse staff or they will hang up so obviously something is very wrong with their service that they make so many people angry. When i called I was told no parts available for nearly 2 months which is obviously not acceptable so I won't be buying that sort of product from Aldi again no matter how good this one is. If you need a filter it's a standard briggs and Stratton item you can get at Bunnings or super cheap and I substituted TUFF CUT blades part number 17-5345 from Super Cheap, just reuse the old bolt and use the new nyloc nut, I ran on these today and they cut great.
Hopeless warranty spares support – The mower worked well for 3 uses with the exception that it was a little hard to start and the self propel function would take a few seconds to cut out from letting go of the handle. But then the electric start ceased to work. I could finish the job to hand because it has also a conventional rope start. But, it being brand new, I rang the Toolklub… Read more
(who look after the majority of Aldi's Gardenline range). They provided names and addresses of two local service agents...I picked the closest. The mower has been there now 6 weeks. Apparently the ignition switch is the problem which has been on order for 2 weeks. The local folks couldn't give me any ETA so I contacted Toolklub and they said there were none in stock and will be at least a month coming in from overseas...but again, no real idea if it were ordered or not.
I *think* the mower is good...but I can't say I have extensive experience with it. The warranty support is woeful. I have to chase answers, the Toolklub has drones answering the phone and there is no detailed information. Overall a frustrating and time consuming exercise!
A good mower but a few tweaks would make it better – Brought this Aldi Gardenline 18"cut mower because of the price and 3 year warranty. There is some assembly required but no tools are needed. You DO however need to buy the engine oil as a separate item. Why they cant pack it with the mower I don't know . It only needs 350mls which could be in a soft squeeze pack so that you can get the oil… Read more
easily into the filler neck on the mower. This would be tweak no. 1.
Tweak no 2 would be to design the oill filler throat so that it pokes out the top of the plastic engine shroud on top.
The catcher has to be assembled. Not that hard to do. The handles also have to be assembled. Pretty easy step.Takes straight unleaded petrol for fuel.
I followed the easy to understand starting instructions and mower started first go and ran well until I turned it off after cutting my lawn.
The grass I used it on was a mixture of different types, and this was the first cut in spring since autumn. Clover patches were thick, damp and about 7 or 8 inches high. Mower and catcher worked well.
Tweak no 3 and the one most needed...the mower needs a handle at the rear of the catcher. There is one at the top but the plastic material that catcher is made of is very shiny and hard to grip when full and makes shaking the catcher while emptying very difficult
The mower does NOT have a throttle. I presume that It maintains revs by use of a governor. It only has an off/ on switch which is fine. But you can't quieten the engine when emptying the catcher.
I liked the top catcher flap which you can raise to see how full catcher is. Height adjustment is good and easy to do. For the price... $139 ..it is hard to beat.
Positive reviews
Only problem is the fuel hose. Had to replace twice now. Other than that runs perfect – Very easy to start. Catcher a little small but does the job. Nice and light to move around. Uses very little fuel. Goes alright in long grass as well. Only problem is the fuel line twice have had to replace from a split in the same spot, just under the tank Show details
Definitely the best mower I've ever owned – My house yard is over 3 acres and it has mowed it easily with the grass around 1 metre tall. Value for money & very fuel efficient. If it ever dies, I'll definitely get another one Show details
Great Lawnmower – Lucky to keep it in my shed. People keep borrowing it as their lawnmowers break down. Yes I have hub caps missing because of lending which is a mistake. But it seems to just keep going. Nice wide cut and does a sharp cut every time. Great lawnmower and have had it a few years now. Show details
Negative reviews
Possible Design/manufacturing fault – The throttle contol unit has fractured where the circlip holding the throttle cable is inserted between 2 flanges. You cannot control the the throttle properly ~ You cannot perform an emergency stop ~ this is dangerous! Where do I get a replacement??? Show details
I love Aldi BUT not this, it is a heap of crap – While a cheap mower $139 the design is terrible. The engine is loud as a concert, it never rained where I live for 6 months hence never needed to mow the lawn so when it come to mowing the fuel line had cracked.....cost to much to repair so atm just sits in the shed waiting for the scrap heap. Still use my trusty old mower that is 15yo...looks terrible but still cuts a fine lawn. Show details
Good mower but it has a fault in the design of its throttle control mechanism – The design is such that a small metal clamp around the speed cable, is supposed to lock it into the plastic throttle cable sub assembly. Unfortunately the plastic is not strong enough and it has broken through. This prevent you from using the throttle to control the speed of the motor. I would like the THROTTLE ASSEMBLY assembly and the cable to be replaced under manufacturer's warranty. Show details

Absolute rubbish – First thing that stopped working was the on off switch followed by perished fuel line then the plastic bar that held the catcher on snapped off completely. Basically got approximately 15 uses before it was thrown out due to constantly fixing it & wasting my time. Frustrating. I know it was cheap but that is just rubbish. Got the 15yr old Victa… Read more
back out, still has the original fuel line as well doesn't miss a beat. Not the first Aldi product to let me down but definitely the last. Boycotting from now on. Cheap nasty & unreliable.
Hmmmmmm? – Have some acres bought this to mow a small .5 Hectare Orchard. It has a rigid blade, and was not particularly good with the slightest hint of dew/moisture. The "On/Off" switch failed on about the 5th use. So I have to run the fuel out to get it to stop. Then I hit a concealed rock, unlike modern convention mower with "pivoting" blades it bent the… Read more
blade managed to straighten it but my son has now done it again! Tried online to buy a new blade, everyone seems perpetually "Out of Stock". The motor runs fine and is very fuel efficient.
Nice looking little machine, was good for price – "Release date Aug 2017 Discontinuation date Aug 2017" ^^LOL...is this correct?^^Yes, one of the ones with no throttle lever, kill-switch only, runs constant at one engine speed only. anyway , I reckon it is the fuel-hose splitting that knocked most of them out. Google "help.tools", ph 1300 889028 is the number to call service/parts agent.… Read more
Product "57774" (if 141cc) or '60751" if 161cc, Gardenline/ALDI mower. (improved design) Fuel Hose @ $24 ea incl P&H. (ouch!)
Worked for 2 seasons. About 15 times – Worked fine for the first year, trouble free. Following season some parts broke off and the fuel hose developed a leak, fixed and still ran ok. By year 3 it became difficult to start, wouldnt hold a constant RPM and kept stopping randomly. Cleaned filter, plug and fresh fuel. Still temperamental. My previous mower lasted over 15 years, and it was… Read more
treated poorly. This is essentially a throwaway product, wouldnt buy another one. Lucky Aldi probably dont stock them anymore and save everyone else the problem.
drive belt problems – starts well mows well hard to push when drive belt comes off .2 issues found 1. spring tensioning gearbox pulley jumps out ,result no self drive . 2. drive belt comes off same pulley even when spring still tension in place. User manual should show how to replace.refit belt pulley back onto pulley,no service manual available .which would be helpful in regard to for mentioned problems. Show details
lown mover – good mover cut finely with less noise and efficiently will buy other one for my nxet gift to some one ,for the safety wise it is good product which stop when it jam Show details
does the job – cheap and easy to use with great options like mulch attachments etc had it for over a year now never had any problems love the key start never fails would buy again Show details
I fined it good really – Easy to start easy to maneuver it did lack little power and only 2 blade was not best idea I prefer 4 blades if your not to fussed by much I recommend this mower. Good price. Show details
Still unsure if I made the right choice – At face value it seems like a decent mower, but a lot of small flaws add up to a terrible mower. The biggest fault is that the catcher doesn’t fill up properly. It will start dropping clumps of grass when the catcher is barely a quarter full. The electric start is great and the battery lasts for quite a while but a big problem is that the key… Read more
barrel is poor quality and it’s kept running in the off position a few times now. Because of the catcher issue I’m forced to use it with mulching attachments instead which isn’t too bad but a frustrating compromise.

Garden line Aldi mower 196cc – I bought this gardenline mower last year , I have to be very honest with other people who buy this product “Please do not buy “ This is horrible mower, since new I haven’t fin cutting grass at once , it runs for 5 min and stops and won’t re start. I chean air filters, I clean choke doesn’t start. Very frustrating and won’t buy any of… Read more
gardenline product ever in my life . One day I will take this outside Aldi and leave it there. Such a waste of money
From bad to worse - given time it will fail you!! – OK bought this mower 22 months ago. Already had the throttle lever replaced twice. Now it stops after about 1/3 of the lawn being mowed (not that big a lawn - on a quarter acre block). Not sure why -over heats?? Starts again the next day. Runs quite roughly - checked oil is fine. Filter been cleaned. Has probably had at most 40 hours of use.… Read more
(Surely doesn't need service that soon)
Maybe it needs spark plugs checking (I can't do that) but really for the hassle it's given me I recommend buying a better quality mower.
The grass catcher doesn't fit neatly on, the design is very poor.
Powerful reliable and inexpensive – I have had this mower over 5 years now big mower that is easy to start every time never had an issue with any part of it. The self drive feature makes it feel like a much smaller mower to maneuver. I don't use the catcher as the mulcher feature works so well even if I let the grass get a little long. The only thing I don't like is the engine cut… Read more
off if you let the handle go. I know it is a safety feature but it means you can't stop to move an obstacle without having to restart (which is easy). Just an unnecessary feature.
Cuts great pitty about the wheels – Great mower no probs however the wheels bend and now the front right had sheeted off during a mow the frustrating thing is that for the rest of it the mower does a great job I had to cable tie the catcher and it now holds together ok . for the $150 I payed it would cost just as much to fix Show details
The wheels bend – Got this last year from my in laws and this year when using it for the first time the wheels have bent in and out wards. It uses loads of fual too for a standard side garden when my old mower use a much less. It was cheap but to cheap on the making of it I think Show details
Does the job – Does the job, reasonably priced and engine is strong enough to cut my medium lawn. Aldi is good store to shop at for bargains. So far had this mower for about 12 months and no hassles start first time every time, only thing I noticed it blows bit of smoke uphill more then normal Show details
Always starts first time - good simple mower – I have had this for over a year and it hasn't need any kind of service - nothing! It always starts first go too. Not sure if I lucked out and got a good one but my experience relative to the price has been excellent. I am more of a reluctant gardener (I mow because I am obliged to) so perhaps others care more about the details but for me this has… Read more
been excellent. The only cons are: I don't love the catcher design - its not that sturdy and occasionally I have to manually scoop grass out of the chute as it can clog up. That would be only once in a while and more often if the grass is damp. I can adjust the blades down and get a pretty decent low cot. Good mower (so far)
Its okay but small – its an okay mower it does the job. I find the blade quality lacking and requires to be sharpened often to ensure a great cut. The blade cutting size is also considerably small so if you have a larger size lawn than I would suggest a mower with a bigger blade cutting size. All in all a good mower for the price. If you have issue aldi is great with returns and replacement. Show details
A Week Early – Purchased while in Bundaberg because sold out at home then purchased a new home in Brisbane with artificial lawn. Grandson uses to do their lawns and he loves it. Has got to be the best value self propelled mower on the market so make sure you plan your day when next on sale. Show details
Great mower – This was a fantstic buy. Purchased after hubby had a recient illness and wanted something I could hopefully use myself when needed. Thus certainly delivered. Starts 1st time everytime. Cuts perfectly and super easy for even me and now our 13 yr old son has taken over the lawn duties in his chores and he even manages fine. Purchased a year ago… Read more
and still starts 1st time every time never had a problem with it would definatley recommend to anyone.
Works OK Quality Average – This mower is a cheap and cheerful Aldi special and it works fine. The quality is not the best and I don't expect it to last forever but it does a good enough job. It starts easily and is good on fuel. I am not in love with the design of the catcher or the way it attaches. This is a good solution for people who want a mower for a few years, not forever. Worth the price. Show details
Surprisingly Brilliant – My husband loves this lawnmower. Rechargeable battery operated key start (no more pulling, so even I can start it with ease). Self propelled. Makes mowing lawns much easier and more enjoyable. Easy to assemble. This mower is much better than you would think and definately one of Aldi's superior products. Show details
Excellent machine – I have honestly found this mower to be more than I expected for the low price I really did not expect it to perform like it did n I told my son about it n showed him how nice it cuts the lawn and he agreed it was a cut so even n he agreed it was a job you would expect from one of those more expensive mowers n he had a go and he could not believe… Read more
how good it monuvered around the yard and how easy it was to push and to clean it was a piece of cake so to speak
