I just bought my second Aldi mower. I can’t remember when I got the first but it is at least six and possibly ten years old. It has worked flawlessly until yesterday when I couldn’t restart it after refuelling. I may have used contaminated fuel (mixed with diesel) but there seems to be little compression. I checked with the bore scope and the… Read more
inlet valve seems heavily gooped with black material. My fault. At $299 this mower is a steal. Sadly, cheaper to buy a new one than pay for repairs, although I will have a crack myself.
It’s ridiculously cheap and yes it does cut grass. For that it gets 1 star, but absolutely no more. Catcher is small and fiddly to remove, doesn’t bag very well and leaves behind half the load when you remove it. The wheels are awful and because the mower is already light it skids if you try and cut on setting 3 or lower. Engine is very easy to… Read more
start but like other Ferrex products (6 in 1 multi tool) it’s only a matter of time until it leaks fuel everywhere and eventually dies.

Useless as the blow hole is too small and gets clogged – Very Disappointing. I bought this because ALDI products are usually very good. We have a large block and liked that it was wide cutter. The problem is that it's blow hole is way too small and continually gets clogged with grass and therefore is useless....Never buy! Show details
Aldi Ferrex Petrol mower 173 cc ,20 " cut – This is a great mower and works every time , but the only downfall is the exhaust is slowly melting the side shute flap which is in picture , the design needs to change that part and not be made out of plastic , otherwise it is an excellent mower . I got a replacement mower from Aldi under Warranty and this one has had an engine change ,the… Read more · 1
exhaust is further forward and it doesn't burn the plastic Shute, so the original one did have a fault but since been rectified .i just giving update on 3/11/25 and the Mower is still going strong .
SELF PROPELLED ;; less than $300 What a bargain – So happy with this little beauty , I have a large block so need the self propelled version and it works like a dream. The price is amazing compared to Bunnings and it comes with a 3 year warranty. There were no problems assembling it as basically just hd to attach the handle and off I went. Cleaning was easy as there is a hose attachment for cleaning un der the machine. Great product at a great price. Show details
Aldi Lawn Mower. Seems like Good Value – Purchased Feb 2023 from Aldi $249.00. Comes in box somewhat disassembled, half and hour to assemble. Need to purchase Engine Oil for it. 4-Stroke; so normal petrol is used. Tested on large corner block lawn. Went well. Seemed a little light (33kg) but was easy to handle and the 173cc engine was powerful enough. Self-propelled worked well. No… Read more · 1
throttle control (but I always set previous mowers on maximum anyway) . 60L Catcher was a bit small for my needs but would be OK for the average lawn. Overall I’m happy with the purchase.
Engine exploded on second use – Only used twice then the engine exploded, I assume a piston through the side casing of the block. Grass was blade grass but not very long and not at all wet. Oil levels correct and checked prior to use. This looks good but is actually dangerous and faulty. Show details

No one will work on it in Rockhampton – Hi I been using your mower for awhile now and the problem I have is no won in Rockhampton will work on it because I brought it from ALDI. I have changed Spark plug, oil, fuel filter I have cleaned all of the mower but I still cannot change the engine revs.so no power to make it go faster and I have to flood it to what is going on with it could it be the float?. Thanks Kelvin Iam still waiting on a answer. Show details · 1
Purchased mower recently a Ferrex Motor Mower, so far I would recommend it to anybody – The only problem I found were the Drive Wheels slipped when the grass was wet. Show details
Good value – A few small build quality issues - e.g. one of the wheel covers falls off occasionally. However, when you compare the price to what you get it's easy to see it's a good deal. Show details

Good mower but warranty help has been very poor – The mower worked quite well for nearly 2 years. It then developed a fault with the self-drive so I attempted to contact the service and warranty provider, a business called Scheppach in Victoria. I tried calling two different numbers several times, only to hear a message that warranty claims are not accepted by phone. I then lodged a claim online… Read more
via the website, no response. I then emailed the business directly, no response. I eventually contacted Aldi direct; they were very good and I heard from the warranty provider within 48 hours. Had a conversation about the fault and the technician said he would check something and get back to me. That never happened. Went back to Aldi again and said I wanted a replacement or refund. Aldi was very good and offered a refund. Aldi are being let down by a very poor third party provider; they need to change contractors.
No Back up – I bought this mower on the 12/10/24 I'm going to return it due to being unable to contact any ALDI personal and support@scheppach.com.au. 2 emails sent bounced back each time, also contacted phone 1300 855 831, we only contact on line, no help what so ever, and no back up. I find ALDI a waste of time and effort. Show details

Very accurate warranty – What can I say. It was working good without any issues. Just couple of months after the warranty is expired head gasket is blown off. Started to produce lots of smoke and oil is pushed through inlet. My luck Show details

Good mower, might need reinforcement on the deck where the motor mounts – I have had my mower for a couple of years now and recently had an issue where the motor tore its mounting bolts out through the deck. I disassembled the mower and got the deck repaired/welded back up and also had a ring made of 3mm thick steel cut and drilled as a support/reinforcement for the motor mounting bolts. The ring goes under the deck and the bolts go through the ring then the deck and then into the mower. This worked like a charm. Show details
A Lemon – Do not recommend Aldi Ferrex Motor Mower & wish I read review's 1st. Looks great that's it apart from starting 1st time once. Small yard grass looks chewed. The green lever, the wire keeps coming out. Mowed half the yard had a break next thing I pulled the lead and all I hear is metal on metal and it's not the blade. I expect more for 250$ returning tomoz got box but I'm wheeling it in and not hiding an Aldi Lemon. Show details
Cut short, mower to rubbish in no time – Only used the mower a few times and then the pull start stopped working, as in would not engage with the motor. pulled it to pieces and found the plastic housing that holds the inertia tags was broken. After reading other posts wont even bother wasting my time to fix. This is not a mower any more its now a piece of rubbish, thanks for adding to… Read more
the worlds waste pile Aldi. The manufacturer should be charged for pollution. I wonder where it was made ?? good different !!
Disappointing instructions – Ferrex petrol mower on sale 17th February 2024. Assembly of handle instructions not clear. Handle flops around. Unable to use as is. No rating until assembly worked out. Handle worked out. Mower awkward to use especially in small area. Catcher flimsy but not necessary. Clean function is good. Show details
what service? – ALDI does want to know you after selling their item. Can not find spare parts mower mechanics do not want to waste their time on something cheap Show details
Beware when buying Aldi Ferrex lawn mower – Bought a Ferrex mower from Aldi mower refused to start , call customer service three times , everytime you call register the service someone will call after a few days if you do not take the call a voice message will be left to re register the service and you immediately return the call no one answers, they do not have the courtesy to call you… Read more
back. Bad customer service if I purchased this item from Bunnings I would have definitely got a replacement on the spot. VERY BAD AFTER SALES SERVICE . IF YOU BUY A FERREX PRODUCT. IF YOU HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE PRODUCE YOU WILL BE STUCK WITH A NOT WORKING PRODUCT ....WASTE OF MONEY
A piece of scrap in less than a year. I might have cut my small lawn twenty times before this crap finally died – Revised review. Spent 100 dollars to get it fixed and within a month the self propulsion system has now stopped working and just fell apart now my hands. What a piece of junk this is. Never buy Ferrex mowers a complete waste of money is a piece of junk it is a waste of money. Bought this last year and it worked pretty well started on2nd or 3rd… Read more
try. Grass is growing again I took it out put new fuel in and Nada nothing will not fire up. Any ideas?????????
Rubbish – It seems I flushed $300 in toilet. Who gives certificate to sale this product. He/she deserves to be flushed in toilet too. Lots of white/blue smoke at first session of using. It also doesn't fill the catcher. It's a piece of rubbish.

garbage lawn mower – Motor locked up after less than 2 hours use, unrepairable. Should not be allowed to put junk like this on the market. Aldi should be ashamed of it self for selling garbage like this. People who make this crap should be put in jail. Show details
Do Not Purchase This – Who ever created this is stupid as hell. The doesn't even assemble properly. So much for being smart you made it 10x harder to use then $1200 lawn mowers. This garbage ain't even worth it. Within minutes, the mower completely stops and gets jammed.
Up in smoke – I was about to spend 800 on a Honda self propelled mower but seen this for 300, Because of all the rain lately all my business lawns were long. So I was putting the Ferrex to the test 1st day, So I put 10w30 500ml oil as stated.....not 450ml?? that someone else said. First I mowed my lawn very small and the amount of white smoke that it blowed out… Read more
I couldnt see and I chocked in it. So I tipped out some oil and it went fine after that. Next day mowed some very big lawns went fine?? 3rd day again more some lawns on an angle and the plume of white smoke again so this time I lowered the revs and the smoke stopped then I started again did 2 strips and smoke again, this happened 2-3 more times then mowed rest of lawn with no more issue?? Another day the pull cord went loose and wouldn't catch to start?? But this seems to have gone away now??? On the good side when it mows its great especially when I add the side attachment for longer lawns so half goes in catcher half out then I mow in a circle take side attach off then pick up rest of grass with catcher. I love the hight adjuster handle and the hight levels.
Would I recommend this mower and would I get it again???
NO and NO!!
Ferrex 161cc with 18inch cut – I have the 161cc ferrex and I'm sorry to say NOT HAPPY. It uses more oil than fuel, unable to use on my buffalo grass with the front of the deck so low . Its like a bulldozer. Its has no decompression valve, so starting this mongrel is , well not easy. Noticed the governor not working i think from new. It's a all rounder pain to use. I'll never buy another. Aldi at taree Show details
So far I'm IMPRESSED – 1. Build quality appears strong 2. Cuts the grass beautifully 3. Easy to put together 4. Self propelled works well 5. It was a good purchase and easy to use 6. Starts first full most times One thing, if you don't mow your lawn regularly and it gets over 50mm long, the mower has real trouble throwing grass into the catcher and the motor can bog down a little. Best purchase ever – Best value for money product I’ve ever purchased. I bought a Makita brushless mover for $1300, at Christmas and it’s junk , the Ferrex cost me $199 and it out performs the Makita in ever way. Show details
Works just fine – Starts easily each time, cuts well and has a low cut option. Good wide body, self propelling function works well, albeit makes mowing slow. It’s a risk buying a reproduction brand but mine is fine Show details
Worst purchase ever – Worked fine three times , then went dead , followed all FAQ steps to no avail . No help at all from nobody , the fixing cost is the same as a new one. Threw it away and invested in a reliable brand . No more Aldi to me Show details
EVERYTHING FALLS OFF IT – The only good thing about this mower was the self-propelled for up hills, but even that has fallen off. One by one the pieces have slowly vibrated off and been lost in the grass. Even though I have my receipt of purchase, it's not even a year old, I can't get a refund because I didn't keep the damn box! Show details
