to provide a “refund” of my insurance excess deposit, it’s up to his discretion if he returns it, and he’s not inclined to do so.

FULL STORY: “All Age Car Rentals”/“Gold Coast Car Hire”/“Surfers Paradise Rental Cars”

While initially very happy with the business and the owner - the car was affordable and he seemed friendly - we were eventually left very disappointed with the owners conduct and the unprofessionalism of the business.

To begin with Nissan Pulsar provided to us was faulty and the air conditioning/heating fan was jammed off and was not able to be turned off. The owner of this business also has identifying photos of previous clients in his office whom have received traffic infringements, stapled to the wall with statements such as “OUR FIRST IDIOT!”

However, this pales in comparison to the experience with receiving our insurance excess deposit back. We were involved in a minor not-at-fault accident while returning the car. The person who caused the accident happily provided all their insurance details and admitted liability (we were hit from behind whole stopped) and the vehicle was returned. The business held our insurance excess deposit as expected, while the insurance liability was established. This took place 29/03/25

The vehicle was provided to the business’s repairer 07/04/25, where the repairer was provided the incorrect insurance details and contact information (and left unable to repair the vehicle) as confirmed by the repairer in later conversations.

28/04/25 - I attempted to contact the business to ask what was happening and when I could expect to receive my refund. I was informed that he had no idea what was going on, would follow it up and return my call the following day. A call which was never received.

29/04/25 - Subsequently, I made contact with the at fault party and their insurance company confirming that they had accepted liability. This information was relayed to the business and I was advised that he would check with the repairer, and get back to me.

09/05/25 - I made contact with the business, asking for a status update and was informed again that the vehicle was with the repairer and he didn’t know the status but would check the following morning and get back to me

10/05/15 - I followed up with the business that afternoon was told that he had been trying to contact repairer “all morning” but that the repairer wasn’t answering his phone and wasn’t working. I requested the name of the repairer, and immediately made contact with the repairer myself. The repairer provided me photos of the information that had been given to him with the car, showing that it did not include the correct insurance contact information but that he had attempted to make contact. I contacted the correct insurance company, got the contact information, provided it to the repairer and he immediately sent it to the insurer.

12/05/25 & 13/05/25 - After spending several hours on the phone with insurance, I was able to receive written confirmation that they had accepted liability from the accident and that they would repair the vehicle. I spoke with the owner of the rental company and advised him of this, to which he said to email him through my account details and he would return the insurance excess deposit.

14/05/25 - Made contact with the owner again and asked the status of my insurance excess deposit return. He told me that the insurance companies written confirmation of liability and intention to repair his vehicle “means nothing” and that he is not legally obligated to return an insurance excess deposit. He advised that in his view, he is entitled to keep any deposit, and that he’s inclined to keep ours - and that if I had a problem with this, I should take it up with the Office of Fair Trading.

This is what I’ll be doing at 9am tomorrow morning, and I am happy to provide the written or audio transcriptions of our communications to any hesitant prospective clients of this business.

Great to deal with – Initially hired a car for a week whilst waiting for repairs to my car, which turned into 3 weeks hire after delays by the repairer. Stay away! – Stay away! The owner is dodgy and rude, the most unpleasant experience I had in a long time. Luckily for me, I managed somehow to get them the car back and get my refund in time, but the whole experience was so bizarre. could return it to the car lot. He was also extremely racist when we went to pick up the car initially, making rude and derogatory comments about people of Asian descent. Do not rent from this man!!

Bond not refunded – Do not hire from All Age Car rentals on the gold coast. The car was faulty (computer issues, no speedo) and on return Amil processed my 550aud deposit incorrectly. I have emailed him and called him 6 times from NZ, each time he has said he will redo the refund. 3 months later still waiting Show details

Great Economical Car Rental! – We are currently renting for six weeks and we have a Toyota Yaris it is perfect for getting around the Gold Coast, AC works really well and Amil gave us a great rate much less than big rental firms and made everything so easy for us Thank Amil! This is the worst car rental place they have hidden fees and hidden information ! – The customer service was great at first until I found out that he had lied about a fee. I told him I was going to the airport on the 22nd and he told me it would cost extra to do so but when I just spoke to another employee, she told me that it is covered when you buy over a 5 day car rental but due to corona they don’t want to do it as it’s hard !!!!!! Good fun car hire – Hired car for a day and picked it up at Broadbeach. Amil very friendly and funny guy and some of the print outs on his office wall are hilarious. Awesome service with a great car!! If I could give more than 5 stars I would!! – Amazing service and a great car!! refund and deposit has not been refunded after almost 3 months.

I would not recommend this services to even my worst enemy . I have a pending court case with them now and then my bank is involved.
