AI reviews summary
Amaysim reviews reflect a deeply divided customer base, though recent feedback is predominantly negative. While long-term users appreciate the "data banking" features and competitive bundling of mobile and NBN services, a significant number of customers report severe difficulties with basic administrative tasks. The most critical takeaways involve a breakdown in customer support accessibility and significant technical hurdles during the SIM activation and account cancellation processes.

Verdict
Amaysim is a viable option for those seeking high data limits and bundled savings, provided the initial setup and activation go smoothly. However, the high frequency of reports regarding broken activation systems and non-existent customer support makes it a risky choice for users who require a reliable, quick setup or who may need technical assistance.
Total scam. I was on vacation in Oz for 1 month and went online to find a temp sim card. I unfortunately came across these scammers. I paid $15 for a 28 day sim only to find out afterwards that it will take up to 14 days to activate (basically useless). I contacted their customer support to cancel it but she pretended not to understand. I thought… Read more
I will wear the $15 and bought another one at the local supermarket. I now find out months later they have been taking $40 a month from my card ever since. Obviously they had sneakilly signed me up for a auto renewal a a higher rate somewhere in the fine print. I went online to cancel and there is no where to cancel it. The phone line (which is charged) kept me on hold forever without answering before i hung up, and the chat line does not answer either. Total scams - stay away!
Their plan fees have more than doubled over recent years. No more budget friendly plans at all - so now they're no better than any other provider. Amaysim service is no better nor worse than any other OPTUS network provider. The problem is I remember when they were $10, $12 and then $14 a month but now the minimum is $25 for 28 days. That's not… Read more
budget friendly that's a cash grab. I left AMAYSIM and moved to Spintel which are only $1 cheaper at $24 per month, but at least offered special of $14 for the first 6 months. After 6 months I will just look for another cheap OPTUS network provider as I have ZERO reason to be "loyal" to ANY company, and I consider AMAYSIM rip off merchants like every other provider so....

People to Use Google.(I Haven't For Years) I've Been With Amaysim for Years. Old App Works Fine ( For Now) To Me , Its Discrimination Against Non Google /IOS Users. Maybe Time For A Change?? As Amaysim Speeds (Rural) are quite slow. There ai Help is Useless , now off shore call centre , who know Nothing , didnt even know about App Update till I Told Them . And Amaysim after years want me to Create a Google Account , because of App Security Update , Google Itself is A Security Risk . Amaysim if You Cant Provide A Service for 100% of the Customers , then Stop Taking $$$ Out of My Account .

I was pushed to amaysim after my provider circles closed in April. The phone with the sim broke in April and so there has been no usage. I started cancelling in May they only confirmed it in July. I'm still being charged now at the end of October. 6 months and $230 later for a sim thats never been used. They've also been charging extra for excess… Read more
data top ups of a sim card that is at the rubbish tip. I literally had $33 until payday in 3 days time and amaysim just took $25. There is nowhere on the app or browser to cancel. I have to wait for someone to contact me back. Same as last time when i cancelled. I've attached screenshots of (marketing) emails confirming the cancellation and trying to lure me back, all whilst still taking money from my account (screenshots 3 & 4).
I have been with Amaysim for 2 weeks. the first for an internet plan. had enough problems but the clincher was that they didn't accept my internet medicare reference. (i am a 69 year old pensioner in a nursing home because of various medical conditions). fortuntely that was sorted after 3-4 emails. Then i bought a phone plan to transfer my number… Read more

Last 6 months the service has improved exponentially and I have no problem hotspotting our TVs and other people to watch lives streaming. , _________________________________ have amazing amounts of data, But the service is so bad that I just don't get to use it. support was tedious through chat or email. At least Amaysim has a phone number, And I answer their phone and they try and help.
But whilst I can make phone calls, Watching a video or googling anything is extremely difficult if not impossible. Most of today I haven't been able to even Google anything or send MMS messages. And I'm in the middle of town. I will be swapping to aldi Telstra because it's just too unreliable.
I have an older 180gb plan with unlimited calls to some overseas destination. The first year there was a sale (two years ago) and 1 year plan cost me around $60 after Cashrewards. Last year I asked the renew plan at $100 and they did! I asked again and they gave me $100 plan for 1 year which is the cheapest around ever! Data is also banking and… Read more · 1
now I have a total of 350gb which I probably don’t need. Really happy with amaysim. It was a bit annoying to get discount applied this time as I had to contact them multiple times but eventually it was all sorted. I hope next year I can get renewed at the same cost or at least discounted. I’m a light user and don’t need a lot of data.

Amaysim are 100% absolutely useless i am trying to start a new plan with a new $2 Sim and get a new number pick one and then get to the payment part and it won't let me pay by any form of transfer of money it won't let me put in my details. So… Read more
have spent hours Saturday night and talked to them and the said I have a account already have a account so again went through trying to get it going again it's stops at payment. I have spent 9 hours today with promises to through and have asked them to tell me what the other number I supposedly had and they can't do that. And as it seems I can't get anyone to close my account permanently. Its seems like they can keep my full name address and many other personal details. But can't help me remove my new old account. It seems like OPTUS is the full owner of Amaysim. Both have lost my interest in using them ever again. So was opening 6 new numbers and couldn't even get to activate 1. Your loss my gain to either Telstra or Vodafone so much easier to activate a Sim card. Poor attitude AMAYSIM in getting help and your higher next level people that I was promised it would happen.
Follow-up · Zero support had 2 $30 prepaid sims which also didn't work as it wouldn't accept me because i already had a account with them but couldn't tell me what it was so over a week of arguing with them. I do not want to use Optus owned company Amaysim ever again. Singapore owned company and Indian staff who cant speak clearly to what they are saying. OPTUS FLOPTUS DONT TRUST THEM.

Bottom of the range. Abysmal – Abysmal. It would be hard to envisage a more useless telco. A company that bought out a company and were then bought out. They have a customer disservive instead of a service. Live chat is dead few brain cells working there at all. How do these companies survive? Artificial unintelligence. Show details
Follow-up · They are typical of overseas conglomerates that don't give toss about their customers.
I purchased an eSIM and international roaming pack in Japan and it doesn’t work. I have no data no text and no phone calls. I can’t change providers as they need to send an activation text to transfer my number and I have no service with Amayasim. It doesn’t work do not buy it. Show details
Follow-up · Still not working I can’t receive texts or phone calls. It just doesn’t connect with any Japanese carrier.
Positive reviews
I've been a mobile phone customer for a number of years. No problems over that time. Bought their global roaming when visiting Indonesia. There was a problem (not their fault) and customer service was great. My experience has been nothing but positive. Due to this have just shifted my nbn to them.

I have an Amaysim plan and added International roaming before my trip. Travelled to NZ, Tahiti, Hawaii, USA, Canada and Fiji with faultless, easy connection in each country. A +++ service. I have used travel sims before but this beats that hands down.
Wish I’d found this Mobile Telco company years ago, excellent value on their yearly upfront payment plans, even with the occasional first year discount offers it's a good price. it was simple and seamless set up and easily managed on line and the app. Uses the Optus network which is fine with us. The real bonus is the offered roaming service for an… Read more
upfront and very reasonable fee, which has worked exceptionally well in Asia so far , and makes it so much easier than changing sims all the time and provides the ability to receive texts when you need them,(most telcos charge at least $5 a day until you cancel)Amaysims roaming plans last a year( or 6 months) or until used up. Of note we had friends in Japan who had a few issues with the E-sim side of things, but eventually it was worked out, we found no issues there on a sim card. but it does pay to read the instructions and procedures. Highly recommended
Negative reviews
Even one star is too generous for this joke of a company. I lost my phone recently, bought a new one and tried to download an eSIM. I had an old email on file and couldn't get access to my account. I then spent the next nine hours on chats, calls and was asked to send sensitive documents over email because they don't have a secure way to send documents. The offshore support centre is horrific to deal with. Never again.
I tried to use it on my latest phone and it didn’t work I’ve had it for 4 days and the sims been in I still have no mobile data . 0/10 don’t recommend never buying from amaysim again. Show details

Even though I have an a service with them their id verification process continually fails when trying to add a new service. Absolutely garbage service and processes.
I wouldn't have been disconnected from contacting amaysim support team if it wasn't for them charging me to call them every single time when an issue occurs they always debit your card which I'm on a prepaid on the Go plan they should be free of charge when calling their support line not charging their customers I wouldn't have wasted a whole… Read more

Can't talk to a human (567 just send you around in circles of different automated messages. When you have trouble and "chats" restart if you have to work while waiting for someone to attend. I used amaysim for a while, but I found the 5G network was not very consistent in city based like Sydney. It would often switch between 5G and 4G, unlike some Telstra-based MVNOs that provide a more stable connection. If network reliability is important, I would recommend a Telstra-based provider instead. However, amaysim is still a good option as a secondary SIM for occasional calls, texts, and light internet usage.
Bought a phone from them online and it was faulty. I complained online and over the phone. First they said it’s gonnna take 10 business days then they said go to PTC google authorised repairer for a brand new phone. Anyway I call PTC they said they ll repair it and will provide the phone report for a $50fee. So I call amaysim and told them whole… Read more
story they send send the phone back and our assessment team will check. When I send the phone back same day I receive notification that your order is on the way back to you. I was surprised but thought may be they sent the new device but no they send the same phone back advising that nothing wrong with it. Also they mentioned they have upgraded the software I thought may be it fixed but no. It still doesn’t work. Unbelievable. Paid 10 days ago for a phone which I still can’t use.worst customer service I ever experienced.
Terrible company , liars and thieves I signed up my friend with the promise for both of us to get $50 using my link we signed up together with the link that was provided never received any money Amaysim’s saying he didn't use the link , nonsense I used the link together with him sitting right next to me , don’t recommend this company at all , l'm also now looking at leaving them and going to another provided .
If I could rate 0 stars I would they claim this phone company to be budget friendly that is the biggest lie they are expensive they have no good deals there internet cuts out all the time and they are all round just crappy phone company steer clear unless you want to be ripped off Show details
I was disappointed to find that funds were debited from an expired credit card without proper authorisation. There was no prior communication regarding this restriction, and I only became aware of the issue when I urgently needed to make a call and was unable to do so.
When I contacted your support team, the only solution offered was to renew my plan, which did not want. The overall lack of communication and limited support has been frustrating and I'm glad that I won't be continuing with their service.
Online support today. 15.05.2026 suboptimal. Basically 29.64 taken out of my amaysim account to renew today however was told via text it renewed on Friday. if you take 2 seconds to respond but they can take as long as they want - so rude. SO UPSETTING. APP is rubbish. ?new? And having a $25 plan with discount cannot renew via sms as it is too confused. This is ridiculous. A tech company that has rubbish eveything. I am always a happy client but the constant dealing with incompetence and wasting my valuable time, Amaysim could not repay me enough for my wasted time on their app.and with their Agents who are ' Multitasking which is not a 'thing'. 1 thing at a time concentrate on 1 client and get the job done right! I am sure the repercussions from this negative review will not be as bad as what we have had to deal with over time!! Paying for this with the increase in costs.. for still terrible service....time to move on!! OR not have a phone altogether.
Been customer for over 10 years, missed a monthly payment and mega issues getting back to full service. Gotta say ZERO customer service now, that 10 years ago was great. Looking for another carrier. to correct missed payment. All chats with Amaysim 'service' persons ended up them not trusting my story or payment and my service was cut off. Luckily I had a second carrier (Telstra) so I could actually call people. Really upset with the total lack of customer service and their inability to consider customer loyalty.
I have been with Amaysim for over 10 years and have always used my mobile number as a secondary contact number. customer service and emailed support more than 10 times, I was asked to email them two ID which I did but yet my issue remains unresolved.
I then rang customer service today, spent over a hour on hold and speaking to someone, then transferred to another guy (James) worked in ID department asked me to hold my ID in my hand, take a photo of myself and send the photo to them. That's ridiculous! I asked why didn't tell me at the first place, I was told sending two ID and they can active my new sim manually. I wouldn't send it to customer services I even don't know where they are overseas. It could be used for scam.
I suggested a video call verification instead, but they refused. I found this process excessive and inconvenient!
I would like to keep my 10 years old mobile number but after repeated requests for information and no resolution, I decided to move to another provider and obtain a new number. Not recommend.
