We are extremely happy with our switch to Amber. Just comparing our monthly electricity bills is enough to justify the switch: Without Solar - $750 With Solar (no battery) - $350 With Solar and battery and switch to Amber - $30 Show details
Been with Amber for about a month. The Amber app is very user friendly. (1) Easy to toggle between grid power costs (in five minute increments for the coming hour) and solar FIT (Feed In Tariff) prices (again in five minute increments for the coming hour), with half hour anticipated (subject to change) prices for the next 24 hours. Very useful for… Read more
planning to buy (to fill up batteries - usually 12noon to 2 pm - we have 48kWh Sigenstor) or to sell (typically early evening). (2) Previous days usage and/or FIT sale shown promptly and clearly with kWhs and costs. (3) Just received my first bill. Again very transparent and informative Overall a very transparent and real time app. Very pleasantly pleased with my experience.
SCAM !!! Please DO NOT get caught in signing up with Amber. Wholesale rate are just bulls*t. I am sharing my real experience with Amber. I got charged $6 per kw as a WHOLESALE rate. "Evening rates" is the CATCH. I get a Massage every evening to reduce using electricity otherwise i will get charged a lot. My bill went up from $150 per month to $400… Read more

I recently connected up with Amber Electricity and overall the experience has been really positive. Getting set up was quite straightforward. The key is just to actually read the instructions in the email they send through, and if you follow those step by step the connection process is smooth with no real issues. For context, I’m running a 48kWh… Read more
battery system (FoxESS CQ6) paired with a H3-10.0 smart inverter, along with 11.9kWh of solar on the roof using a Sungrow SG10.0RT inverter. The inverters are coupled, and everything has integrated without any complications.
What I really like is the level of control you still have as the battery owner. You’re not locked out of anything, you can still manage how your battery is used, while also having their SmartShift technology working in the background. SmartShift optimises things on your behalf, including when to sell energy back to the grid, which helps maximise returns without needing to constantly monitor it.
Financially, it’s already been a noticeable improvement. In just 16 days I’ve built up $16.44 in credit. For comparison, over that same sort of period previously I would have been sitting around -$18. So it’s effectively been a $30+ swing in the right direction, which is a pretty remarkable turnaround.
Also worth noting there has been absolutely no disruption to my energy supply at all since connecting. Everything has run seamlessly, no issues, no outages, no complaints in that regard whatsoever.
From what I’ve seen, some of the more negative reviews seem to come down to setup or troubleshooting complexity in certain situations, and at times response times can be slower due to the high volume of battery uptake and support demand. In my view, it’s best to work through the setup carefully using the provided instructions first, and only reach out to Amber support if you’ve exhausted those steps and then wait for their response when they’re able to get back to you.

It gives $10 off per month for the first 12 months, and I also get the same benefit when someone signs up.

About 8 years ago before I had even heard of Amber I was getting huge gas bills especially in the winter, I only had gas heating, so I decided to go all electric and fitted 20 soler panels, solar hot water heater, 2 panels & (electric boosted), then a solar battery & Rev cycle Heat & Air conditioning. I changed to Amber about 3 months ago & the bills have been noticeably smaller than comparison periods in the past 4 years. SO FAR SO GOOD Show details · 1
We joined about 3 months age. Bills have come down even though we already had reasonable bitts because we have solar and a battery. Their communication is text based. I would like them to have phone support. Show details · 1

We’ve not had to pay a power bill for over a year now and are currently in credit by over $500!! Thanks Amber! Before joining Amber, we’d bounced between different power companies trying to get a good deal. In each case, these other power companies would increase their charges and decrease the solar export rate to the point where our power bill’s… Read more
would become painfully expensive - despite all our efforts to maximise usage of our home solar system and lessen the burden we placed on the grid. It was like living in a real life shell game, where the stakes were ever increasing and the house constantly changed the rules. Now with the Amber app, I can monitor our usage throughout the day and know from moment to moment how our imports and exports are valued, and change our usage based on real time, data driven information. This transparency is what sets Amber above all the rest.
Awesome platform and direct integration with my Sigenergy system. Only catch is if there is adequate price spikes that work in your favour to cover fees. For me in NSW, it has been great with $2k credits in 9 months instead of a $4,500 power bill. And that's charging 2 EV's as well. The Tesla integration also works well to charge from solar or… Read more

I have 8kwh solar and 28kwh battery. My power bills for the last 2 years have been ~$2700 in credit, as in I get money rather than have to pay. I dont need to be super fiddly with the settings, although I do keep an eye on it atleast once a day. But Amber app will automate my power optimisation in case I forget. Show details
I would highly recommend this as an energy solution if you have a battery and solar panels. We have a 6kw solar system and a 14kw Elektrobank 14 battery system. Our bill has been less than $5 each month during a variety of weather conditions. Show details

At the moment I am saving lots in dollars and helping the environment with my plan with Amber. Which makes sense in two areas I am interested in. Plain and simple - coupled with a reliable product. The setup was fairly painless, the NSW subsidy application was a bit cumbersome, but happened. My power generation has not been disrupted which is also assuring. regards Show details · 1
Using Amber Electric is amazing! I’ve had solar panels for a few years and had only been getting 5 c/kwh feed in tariff. After installing a battery it’s a whole different ball game! I can now more effectively decide how I will use my home solar generating capacity! Save it in the battery and use it when live prices are low or let it go to market… Read more
when the price is good! It’s so good to see a credit on my bill instead of the amount to pay! Changing my provider to Amber was easy and the app is simple to use. I’m also now able to more closely monitor my household power use and it’s exciting to see a predicted price spike and then the amount earned afterwards! If you’ve got a battery and you’ve been thinking about switching to Amber, do it now, you won’t regret it.
I have been with Amber now for over 12 months. If you are thinking of getting batteries or have batteries with a different provider then this review may help you decide to go with Amber. ~$35k however, I am confident that with the price of electricy consistently increasing, I won't ever regret investing in Solar Generation and Battery Storage, and in signing up with Amber Electricity. POSITIVES: I can easily control when I charge my batteries and when I discharge excess stored power to the grid. Since upgrading my Solar System I have never had an Electricity Bill where I am not in credit overall. My current credit with Amber is $121.17. I'm also expecting another negative for this month (March 2026). The Big Positive with Amber is the access to whole sale price of electricity with the average price I have paid for the last 12 months of 15.7c/kWh. Check your latest bill, without access to the wholesale price of electricity, you'll be getting charged ~40c/kWh.
THE 'NOT SO GOOD': 99% of activity on the Amber App for my Battery Charging and Discharging is done manually by me. I have been able to get into the habit of discharging power to the grid after 6:30pm when the sun has been shining. It takes about 5 minutes to do this and under normal conditions can provide $1 - $3 per day of income each day I discharge to the grid. This doesn't sound like a lot, but over a month it helps to offset the electricity supply charge and the Amber subscription cpost, particularly between late Spring and Early Autumn (When the days are warmest).
The NEGATIVE; The one charge on my electricity bills which I never fully understood, was the 'NETWORK DEMAND CHARGE'. In the past, this has had a devastating impact on the bill for the month. This charge and the impact it can have on my bill was never fully explained to me. In September 2025 the Network Demand Charge on my bill was ~$150. This resulted in all of the savings I had made over the month being wiped from my account. I am not the best person to explain this charge but it relates to the Maximum Power Demand you place on the grid when you are importing power from the grid. There could be any number of reasons why you may need to import from the grid when you have batteriess installed but if you understand the impact it can have on your bill, then you can make decisions on your usage and discharge behaviour to ensure this cost is minimised.
EXAMPLE: In September 2025, my 'NETWORK DEMAND CHARGE' was $150, this was based on the fact that I imported at a rate of 12.53kW for 'a short period' and was charged at the rate of $11.9333/kW for that period. On this occasion, I was charging my batteries from the grid while my hot water service was also using power. I imported 545kWh for that month but I was charged on the PEAK DEMAND amount for that month. Now I'm aware of the impact this has on my bill, I have changed my behaviour so that I do not import power from the grid AT ALL, if I can avoid it. This does reduce my potential earnings for the month however, my latest NETWORK DEMAND CHARGE for February was only $22.74 for a maximum peak demand of 2.11kW. On this occasion, the power import from the grid occurred during an evening when the batteries were exhausted and I needed to import power to supply the fridge, TV and other small appliances. My excess energy that was discharged into the grid for that same month earned me $88.37. A much better outcome.
OVERALL EXPERIENCE: It has taken me quite some time to understand how best to manage my Solar Battery Charging and Discharging pattern but coupled with this, being able to manage our household power consumption has made my overall experience rewarding. My electricty bills, prior to installing Solar Panels and Batteries were between $600 - $800 per quarter ($2800 per year). I Know.... It looks like the payback period for the system will be more than 10 years but that's if electricty prices don't go up. My ongoing reward comes from being confident that, for the forseeable future, I may never get another electricity bill. I'm no expert, and these are my own words, based on my own experience. I hope this helps you make your decision to get a Solar Panel Battery system installed and sign up with Amber. P.S. I wasn't able to upload photos because Google limits my upload options.
Do you have a home battery? Then you need to use Amber. There are two components to Amber Electric: (1) Access to the wholesale electricity market and (2) 'Smart' control of your home battery. The ability to access the wholesale spot market for electricity means that you can get extremely cheap electricity, particularly during the day (when the… Read more
sun is shining) and overnight (when demand is low). The price is dramatically lower than any 'fixed-price' electricity retailer might offer. However, it is important to realise that in times of high demand, the spot price for electricity can sometimes jump to many times the normal level. For example, at its cheapest it might be 5c/kWh, but it can jump to $20/kWh or even higher at rare times.
If you do NOT have a battery, this means that your price for electricity can be crazy high just when you want to use your air conditioner or cook dinner. Amber might not be for you.
If you DO have a battery, then you will be doubly-rewarded. First, you can use the energy stored in your battery to avoid the high prices. This means your average cost of energy remains low. Secondly, Amber for Batteries offers you SmartShift, which can intelligently control your battery. In times of high prices, it will sell the energy from your battery into the grid, thus EARNING you money when the price is high. It also supports the grid, making it more green and more reliable.
A typical Amber customer with solar and a battery will have totally free power during the sunnier months and cheaper power during the darker months. In total, it is quite possible that you will have a zero bill for electricity for the year as a whole but this depends on the size of your solar and battery system, how much electricity you typically use and where you are located (eg QLD vs NSW vs VIC).
While Amber for Batteries is automated, you should still try to understand what is happening with your household energy consumption to fully take advantage of SmartShift. For example, in times of high prices, it is a good idea to turn off your power-hungry devices (eg air conditioner) so that you can earn money from the power rather than consuming it yourself. Solar households work best if the energy is consumed while the sun is shining, so adjust your household routines to use clothes washers, dishwashers and air conditioning while the sun shines. Also, Amber works well with Heat-Pump Hot Water systems since you can program them to heat water when energy is priced low (daytime, overnight) and avoid the expensive evening period.
Put simply, if you have Solar and a battery, use Amber. If you DO NOT have a battery, then Amber is typically not a good option unless you are very aware of how energy consumption works in your household and you are prepared to sometimes stop using electricity while prices are high.

innovation behind real-time pricing and battery optimisation, I am finding the platform quite difficult to understand and trust in practice. The main issue is the lack of clarity between forecast prices and actual live prices. For example, I have observed situations where: The forecast price was significantly higher (e.g., $1.10/kWh), However, the actual live price at the same time was much lower (e.g., 87c, then dropping to 7c), Meanwhile, my battery was still actively discharging and exporting energy to the grid. This creates confusion about what price I am actually being paid and whether the system is making optimal decisions. Additionally, the system appears to act based on forecasts, but when real-time prices change quickly, it is not clear whether the system adapts effectively. As a user, it becomes very difficult to know: Which price to rely on (forecast vs live), When it is better to take manual control, Whether exporting at a given moment is actually beneficial. Overall, the platform would benefit from clearer guidance and transparency, particularly: A clear indication of the actual price being received at the moment of export, Better explanation of how forecasts influence battery dispatch decisions, Improved communication when conditions change rapidly. Without this clarity, it is challenging for users to feel confident in the system or understand whether they are achieving the best financial outcome. No confirmation so far from Amber for 1st month free of charge. I hope this feedback helps improve the user experience, as I do see strong potential in the model if these issues are addressed. Cheers Con

my emails and phone calls. If you think Amber Electric has a good energy plan there are heaps of better companies that do the same thing who aren't unprofessional thieves.
Their marketing is fake. They shows you will be in credit all the times but it is false. You pay minimum $55 for daily supply and their fee.
