Complete scam - Amoma.com – Amoma.com is a complete scam. I booked a hotel in Perth for 2 nights. They charged my credit card, sent me a confirmation then cancelled the hotel booking and kept the money. I selected the link through one of Trivago or hotelbookings.com I’ve now looked at reviews and can see they have been scamming people for years. How is this still happening??? Show details

Booking Cancelled At Sofitel - No Warning! – Booked with Amoma in August 2019 and turned up to the Sofitel for a wedding in November 2019 To our disbelief and without any courtesy call or email notification from Amoma we flew into Brisbane, turned up to the Sofitel to be told our booking was cancelled in September... Money was paid in full from our account in August and we were left to pay… Read more

again in full at the hotel when we arrived ! Luckily they had one room left!! What a disgrace and bitter experience leaving us very weary about purchasing with online companies ever again!! To leave customers stressed ,financially stung and with no notice of a cancelled booking is shameful.

Agoda'a best price guarantee is a scam – I made a booking through agoda.com on Thursday evening of 17 August 2023 for $103.50 for a night at Carlton Suites Goulburn NSW on 22 September 2023 and I then about an hour later I did a search of the same hotel on the same date using booking.com and I discovered that I could have made the same booking for $91. And so I submitted a "best price… Read more

guarantee" request to agoda.com using their email address CUSTOMER.SERVICE@agoda.com, and I did as they asked which was to take a screen shot of the new quote and a copy of the URL which was on the booking.com website. When I had sent this to them they then replied with many more requirements (see attached below). By the time I had gotten their response the following day I looked again at the booking.com URL and I discovered that the price had gone up to $110, so I phoned agonda three times and on the first occasion I was told that they could not view the information I had sent them, and that I should send it as an attachment so I sent it again as an attached pdf.doc, and second time they said they could not read the pdf.doc, so I sent it again and the third time I was told the information I had sent was not enough and customer service agent Haziq said that I had to send them my response to the new request for information, and I told her that the price had gone up on booking.com, and she said she understood and would escalate my request to her superiors, but I have yet to hear back from them, and I have now waited 10 days for their response.

This was the new information they wanted ...

To proceed with the request, you can submit a BPG claim before 11:59 PM property local time of the day before the check-in day by sending screenshot(s) showing the following details:

Same property, check-in, and check-out dates Same room and bed type Same or higher room occupancy (e.g., number of adults, number of children) Same or superior benefits (e.g., breakfast, meal plan, spa inclusion) Same or more flexible cancellation and amendment policies Same advance purchase requirements, prepayment and deposit requirements (if any) Same currency Final price with breakdown including promotion (if any), taxes, and service fees The room must be available for instant confirmation at the time Agoda’s agent checks availability Best Price Guarantee cannot be combined with other offers, promotions, and auto-applied discounts.

After we have received the required supporting document and validated it to ensure that these conditions are met, we will either match that rate or credit the rate difference in AgodaCash to your Agoda account.

Website crashed, booked a different room than I wanted – I was booking a room yesterday and the website kept on crashin. I wanted a double room but when I have clicked pay now , the confirmed booking they gave me was two beds in a shared room , rather than the double bed. Mind you the prices of these two rooms were the exact same. So I talked to the customer representative and she was of no help. She… Read more

wouldn't budge to swap out my rooms, even though the prices were the exact same (and still is the exact same) and she pointed out that I tried to book the double rooms three times in their system. But she said that in the end, the shared room was the one that came through? It makes no sense. As I made sure that I booked the double room. Especially since she even saw that I was trying to book the double beds.

I have just recently read all of the bad reviews on this company. We will see if the booking even came through... becoming doubtful though.

Dishonest with no genuine customer care! Booked a room for 4, got a room for 3 – Booked a room in Phuket, Thailand for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children 6&9). My booking was for a Superior Room with the capacity of 4 pax. (see attached). The room given to us was Superior Room with 1 king bed and 1 single sofa bed, too small for a family of 4. Novotel confirmed that room does not suit our family. (see attached) … Read more

Correspondence with Amoma's customer care in Bucharest, Bulgaria was frustrating and useless and I did not feel the element of care in the course of interacting with them.

Had to pay extra 2400 BAHT direct to the hotel so that they move us to the same room type (Superior Room) with 2 double beds.

Very unhappy with the experience we had with Amoma and they seemed they couldn't care less.

I would not recommend to anybody – I did not intentionally go out of my way to book a hotel room through AMOMA, but I was directed to it through a different travel site where I was convinced it was safe and reliable. When I showed my voucher to the hotel upon arrival to check in that AMOMA had emailed me, they did not have any record of my name in their system. The strange thing… Read more

was that the reference number AMOMA supplied me with was in the hotels system, but under a different name from a different person who stayed at the hotel a year prior. The hotel did not have any rooms left to book, nor did any hotel nearby. This was obviously a huge damper on me and my partners weekend getaway. Thank goodness the person at the front desk was extremely helpful and warned me to NEVER book through 3rd party sites, especially AMOMA, as they have never heard of them nor were they familiar with ever doing business them. While AMOMA did refund me the money they charged me for the room (which I wasn't convinced would ever even happen) it was quite the process to get it done. I called and called and was on hold for awhile each time, without anybody ever answering. I emailed somebody about my terrible experience through their site and about getting a refund. I currently have about 10 different emails in response from them from about 8 different people. And only one person out of all these supposed members from this company said "sincere apologies for the inconvenience". Nobody could even give me a straight answer, and I fear that if I didn't reach out in an email, I would have NEVER received my refund. I even used their online chat tool to get a hold of somebody and they just kept saying the same thing, "note that I cannot provide you with an answer as your case was treated by another department." I wasn't even aware it was being treated at all. It was a big let down on an otherwise good trip. I just believe their site to be a one big [Word Removed] and I honestly feel stupid for having fell victim to it. They even went as far as to REPORT my review on a website as "Inappropriate Content" to have it taken down. Please don't make the same mistake I did...

Incredible servive and experience – Everything about my Amoma experience was great. From finding what I was looking for, to even receiving a call from one of their agents to ensure I had everything I needed. I even got an additional discount code, which was incredible. Definitely met my expectations and will be using again! Show details

Concentrate on what still can be fixed – I don't see any reason to think this was a fraudulent bankruptcy. It's quite credible that Amoma genuinely went broke - I suspect as a result of shaving its margins too closely in an environment of declining consumer spending. What does seem dodgy is that it took them 3 weeks to admit to anyone that they'd ceased trading, leaving thousands of… Read more

customers in the dark until they turned up at their hotel to find they no longer had the booking they'd paid for.

The CBA was able to arrange a cashback on my Mastercard with a minimum of fuss, meaning I got back what I'd paid Amoma. This suggests they at least know the identity of the receiver, even if the public don't. So try this first.

The trouble came when I went to my travel insurance to try and recover the extra $500 or so it had cost me to make a new booking on the spot at the cheapest rack rate the hotel was able to offer. My policy (Tick Top) was advertised as covering losses caused by the default of a travel services provider. However, when I notified them of my claim, they revealed some fine print on page 36 of the PDS (not brought to my attention at the time I bought the policy) which excluded accommodation booking agencies from the definition of "travel services provider". I don't believe this rort can have been peculiar to just one pop-up insurer (as travel insurers tend to be), and it's likely it came down the line from the underwriter. So if you've been hit by this collapse, I advise you to check your policy carefully and make sure you haven't been cheated out of cover in the same way. If you have, please get back and report it, as it seems like something the ACCC, and the industry regulator, might be interested in, and (subject to legal advice) there might be an opening for a class action.

Total thieves – Found out today when i went to book airport pick up that they had cancelled our accommodation booking with the resort back in September. Paid in full in June. I had no notice at all and would not have know until landing in Thaliand if I had not contacted the resort today. Clearly scum bags knew they going bust and grabbed back as many people's funded bookings as they could first. Long awaited holiday just devestated like that. Show details

This is especially so since I discovered the terms of my travel insurance did not extend to insolvent suppliers failing to deliver what had been purchased (which surprised me). Contacting your credit card company could be an option for others, even if they have travel insurance that covers this kind of situation (since insurance claims usually have an excess).
