I purchased a Mabe Pearl diamond and yellow gold necklace from Glendale on 06/06/25 valued at $1,299.00 on sale for $649.00 This was for my 30th wedding anniversary on 15/10/25 and I didn't wear it till then. I only had it on for a couple of hours when it fell off and luckily I found it. I went to Greenhills Angus and Coote and asked them to send… Read more

it to be soldered so this didn't happen again. They were not too keen but did as requested. This was an additional cost to me I continued to wear it on occasions and about 2 months ago I found a piece of a circular pearl shell but didn't coincide this with my necklace. It wasn't till I went to wear it again I realised this piece I found fitted perfectly on to the pearl of the necklace. I returned it to the store of purchase and it was sent to head office. Head office sent an email back to store saying it was due to customer damage and has MOST LIKELY been worn in water. Out of good will I have been offered to purchase a new one for $549.00. I do not swim or go into spas so l don't feel this explanation is justified. Mabe pearls are cultured blister pearls grown against the inside of oyster as opposed to cultured pearl which grows in the body of an oyster. If this is a genuine mabe pearl as is on my docket surely it would not fall apart that easily. I am very appalled at the lack of care to the customer from Angus & Coote. This is not a piece of junk pasted jewellery it is supposedly a piece worth setting with gold and diamonds. I would have liked a refund so I could purchase something else and I think I am entitled to this given the time frame. I definitely wouldn't buy from Angus & Coote again and would warn other buyers to be aware as quality is obviously not found in this store.

I am writing about a highly upsetting and unprofessional experience my three sisters and I had at your Angus & Coote store at Plenty Valley, Westfield, Melbourne on 5/2/2026 around 11 AM. We spent nearly two hours in the store browsing and selecting watches from the clearance section. With assistance from a young staff member, we reviewed several… Read more

watches that were clearly tagged with clearance prices, including watches marked at $79, $109, and $119. After careful consideration, we finalized three watches. Unfortunately, the third watch we selected was later found to have a scratch, so we decided not to purchase that one and proceeded with the remaining two watches, one of which had been clearly tagged at $79.

When the $79 watch was scanned at the counter, it rang up as $159. We politely informed the staff member that the watch had been displayed and tagged at $79. At that point, another staff member — a red-haired woman who had not previously been assisting us — intervened and stated that the watch was full price and did not have a clearance tag.

She then began implying that someone had removed the clearance tag from the watch, repeatedly stating that there were “too many hands” involved, strongly insinuating that we may have taken the tag off ourselves. This was extremely offensive and distressing. No evidence was provided to support this claim, and despite our calm explanations that we had selected the watch from the clearance section as tagged, we were made to feel as though we were being accused of dishonesty.

What made the situation worse was that the initial staff member, who had been helpful earlier, appeared to support this narrative by saying she was “sure” she had not removed any tag — further reinforcing the implication that we were at fault. We even pointed out that there are cameras in the store that could easily verify what occurred, but this was dismissed. Later I noticed $69 & $99 tags on their locked shelf. But the staff members denied displaying those watches under clearance.

The second staff member eventually offered only a 10% discount on the $159 price, which did not resolve the issue. After significant back-and-forth and feeling increasingly uncomfortable, we decided not to proceed with the purchase.

We left feeling humiliated, disrespected, and unfairly treated. While no explicitly racist language was used, the repeated insinuations, tone, and assumptions made toward us felt discriminatory and deeply inappropriate. No customer should ever be made to feel like they are being accused of theft or dishonesty simply for questioning a price discrepancy.

I am requesting that this incident be formally investigated, including review of in-store CCTV if available. I would also appreciate information on what steps will be taken to address staff conduct and ensure that future customers are treated with respect and fairness.

We chose to shop at Angus & Coote expecting professionalism and integrity, and this experience fell far short of that standard. There was no apologies from the staffs who misled the customer with wrong price tags. Very disappointing service.

I purchased this earring in July last year, and it broke shortly after, without any pressure or misuse, which suggests it may have had a manufacturing defect. I tried to return to the store where I bought it at High Point Mall, but it has since closed. I also reached out to another location through the company’s website, but unfortunately I never… Read more

received a response. This has been quite frustrating, as no other store is willing to repair it on their own, and I haven’t been able to resolve the issue through the brand either.

Don’t shop at Angus & Coote! Necklace on sale at $449 down from $749 less than a month ago is now $899, more double the sale price and a $150 jump from the normal pre-Christmas price. Staff in store didn’t even attempt to secure a sale and let me walk out after they wouldn’t come even close to the sale price. Talk about price gouging!!! You’ve just lost me as a customer! Show details

Misled and Frustrated – Angus & Coote Must Take Responsibility for My Engagement Ring" – "I am beyond frustrated with my recent experience at Angus & Coote. worse, despite my disappointment and clear dissatisfaction, the company refuses to offer a refund and has instead suggested a gift card as a solution. This is unacceptable. Engagement is one of the most important milestones in life, and I trusted Angus & Coote to provide a product that would reflect that. Instead, I feel misled, taken advantage of, and ignored.

I expect better from a company of this caliber, and I demand a full refund. It’s shocking that a well-known brand would prioritize policy over customer satisfaction, especially when the product clearly does not meet the promised standards.

I am posting this in hopes that Angus & Coote will finally take responsibility for their actions and resolve this matter promptly. If you are going to sell high-end products, you must also stand behind them and respect your customers. I will not rest until this issue is resolved."

day. She was Not offered a refund, other than her earrings to be sent away for repairs. On 19th October my friend.and i attended the same store for collection of her earrings. The store manager was not on duty, but a supervisor was present on the day. The middle eastern female in appearance was serving us. My friend open and closed the earrings to ensure they were fixed. She brought to the staff attention her earrings were still faulty. The staff in question implied, my friend had caused the earrings to become loose and faulty. We were both upset by her gesture. I challenged the staff member and requested to speak to the supervisor on duty, who was present, but my request was declined. The rude staff member then commented she.was spoken to in an unwanted mannor ,taking my friends earrings away and securing them in their glass cabinet . Another staff member was very pleasant, friendly and professional and took over the situation. Unaware the other female staff member had called security.of the Centre. At no time did my friend or i swear, threaten, yell or make the staff member feel her life was in danger where security needed to be called to the store. At no time did the supervisor on duty approach us or discuss our matter. We are appaulled that Angus and Coote staff can take it upon themselves and create such an upsetting experience. MAJOR ALERT for Jewellery store chain Angus and Coote – Update, 30 Oct 2024. The issue was escalated to the regional managers office and I was given a refund. Thank God. Original post. I am not happy that I have to give this company one star! They deserve none. I purchased an engagement ring (which doubles as my wedding ring) and have had to return the ring 4 x due to the diamonds falling out. 3 x… Read more

it has been returned for fixing. When the 4th diamond fell out, I returned to the purchase store saying that I wanted a refund. The diamonds have fallen out over the time frame of 2 years. Each time the ring was in repair, I was without it for three weeks approx. When I went the fourth time to the purchase store I said that I do not want it fixed I want my money back. [Note: After the diamond fell out the second time, the shop person told me they gave me a new ring]. So, the issue must be the design and the manufacturer. In emails with the main office of Angus and Coote they eventually said they would give me a store credit for Prouds, Angus and Coote, or Michael Hill. I thought this didn't sound right. How can they give credit to another store if they are not somehow in partnership with them? I chose Angus n Coote over Prouds and Michael Hill in the first place for different reasons, especially because I loved this ring. I then searched for reviews for Angus and Coote / and Michael Hill (as I was weakening regarding the voucher) and there are so many reviews with similar stories where diamonds and stones have fallen out of rings and people are disgusted with both stores. I contacted Fair Trading. I have waited quite a few weeks as they are pretty busy and today I had a call. I told the lady my story. She rang the store, and now I am even more disgusted as the purchase store said that this was only the second time when they know its the fourth. I asked Fair Trading what do I do if they lied? I got quite upset. She said Fair Trading is independent, so she can't say either way. She said I would have to go to the Tribunal to take it further. I assume that Angus n Coote knows this will happen, and they anticipate people won't go to the tribunal. What I want to say here is, PLEASE DO NOT GO TO ANGUS AND COOTE FOR A RING WITH A STONE OR DIAMONDS IN IT. Please do a review check. IF/WHEN THERE IS ANY ISSUE WITH THE RING, YOU WILL NOT GET YOUR MONEY BACK OR VERY LITTLE CHANCE. I ALSO suggest that if you have had OR know of someone who has had a similar issue or circumstance - PLEASE CONTACT FAIR TRADING so they can make a note. She said that if quite a few issues arise, they will have to investigate the company, which I say needs to be done already. On another note, how can I trust the appraising jeweller? He will not be independent. The jeweller who checked it said that I must have knocked it or dropped the ring - what sort of engagement ring product, if normal wear, is deemed the purchaser's fault - I do not ever remember dropping my ring, and if I had, there is carpet everywhere at home or where I work. I work in an office typing, I do not wear it at home, and I do not play sports or the like. If the ring can not hold up to normal wear and handwashing, what sort of manufactured product is it? Honestly, please do not trust them. Initially, when I rang to follow up on the request for the refund, as it was taking a while, I said - just to let you know I want a refund - the shop person said, 'We are honest, and our jeweller is honest' - why would they need to do that? I was only saying, 'Please note, I don't want my ring back - (because I told the other store where it was fixed, the same, but they just fixed it). Now I understand why. I warn anyone, especially any bride-to-be, to look elsewhere for your engagement ring.
