Apple Watch Series 3

Usual result from Apple support – Watch generally ok, vo2 mysteriously stopped working. As with all my apple issues, Apple support fails……… Apple support generally give fixes that don’t resolve the issue, even after multiple attempts of applying their fix, updates, restarting devices etc, etc, etc. Very crap experience Apple. Can’t be repaired – I have had my Apple Watch over a year and unfortunately dropped it on the Bathroom floor and broke the glass screen. I took it to Apple to repair and was told they did not repair but offered a small discount on a new one. This meant the price to fix the screen was $400. Show details

Watch is great but original band is hopeless – The watch is great but the band has already worn out after 6 months of wear. I contacted apple and they said I had to bring it into a store - which would be great if I did not live in the country. It is probably $5 band for apple to replace but they want me to do a 2hr round trip to get it looked at. Of course Apple make the product in a… Read more
particular way so you can only replace it with an Apple band. Poor service!! I purchased two watches, one watch we replaced the band as it gave my daughter a rash. Second watch - replaced the band at our expense, but watch now lost as the band came off in the surf. Do not buy watch with the regular band, get a stretch band
Apple Watch 3 is not durable, fell from my wrist a short 40cm height ,screen cracked – For a watch that should take a bit of a knock for everyday wear I don't recommend this watch and battery life only lasts a day. Watch band opened as I was crouched getting out of car fell face on concrete and this is what happens. Shortly after a hairline crack appeared across the screen. I have a Xiaomi 3 smart watch and I'm happier with its… Read more
quality and durability wearing it to work everyday and cost just $35. Apple quoted me $563 for a repair, I paid $499 for the watch. I'll never buy an Apple Watch again or iPhone. The experience with dealing with Apple support, Department of Fair Trading NSW (they're useless and toothless) . Spend your money on something of more quality than Apple.
In-depth reviews
Read this review BEFORE buying!!! – So, this seems like a good watch... right? In my previous (now deleted) review, I said how good the watch was, but things have changed since when I posted my last review a few months ago when I had only used it for a week. 1 - Battery Life When I first was using the watch, the battery couldn't last a whole day, even with power reserve. I had made… Read more
sure all of the updates were installed overnight, so it can't be that, but rather the lovely optimised charging feature. Make sure you don't charge your Apple Watch when it goes low for the first few days, as charging it will make it think that you will charge it often, and always have a charger.
2 - Storage Due to the watch only having 8GB of storage, and 5.1GB of those are used by watchOS, that doesn't leave you with much space. Updating to a new major version of watchOS requires completely formatting, which deletes all of your data. It also means it's much harder to do things like download your Spotify or Apple Music. I could only download about 2 hours' worth of music via Spotify, even though Spotify says I can download 150+ hours. Apple Music doesn't download at all, as this model of Apple Watch does not support it.
3 - Performace Seeing that the watch has a CPU with around the same power as an iPhone 3GS from 2009, it doesn't work very well with watchOS 8, which is essentially a stripped-down version of iOS 15. When opening applications, there is a noticeable lag, and when listening to music, it frequently stutters. It even takes almost 4 whole minutes to boot when it randomly crashes.
4 - Apple's discontinuation The final nail in the coffin for this watch is definitely the fact that Apple will not be releasing watchOS 9 for the Apple Watch Series 3. watchOS 9 will be the newest version of watchOS, expected to be released on September 8th, in Apple's Far Out event, alongside the iPhone 14, iOS & iPadOS 16 and Apple Watch Series 8. If you're looking for an affordable Apple Watch, I recommend getting an Apple Watch SE, as it's much better value for money, has better battery life & performance, as well as a cellular version and watchOS 9 support.
Useful, functional, stylish – I couldn’t live without my Apple Watch. I upgraded last year to the series 3 with cellular, so I could go out horse riding (trail rides) without worrying about bringing my phone. While I mainly use it just for simple things like the time and weather, I occasionally use apps (Endomondo mostly), and find the apps quite easy to use, once you get… Read more
used to the reduced functionality of watch apps. I love the customisable faces, meaning I can see the time, date, moon phase, and have short cuts to apps all on my watch face. The battery is much better than I thought it would be. (Unless I track a horse ride, which kills the battery in a few hours!!). For normal use, I only recharge every couple of days. The only downside is this: I recently smashed the screen on mine. Apple do not replace the screens!!! I took it to a phone repair shop which wanted $359 to repair it (more than half the cost of a new watch). This is very disappointing. Hopefully my home insurance covers it. Apart from the screen issue, I am very happy with it.
Yeah.... but it’s just not able to be alone – Ok I purchased my watch directly from Sydney apple store. Had lots of fun being served by a extremely helpful salesperson. My whole family was in for this and my wife’s iPhone X purchase. But to the watch.. Waterproof it is. I have wanted it for when I’m in the shower on call, and yes it’s been able to alert me of a call. Water and the screen… Read more
don’t do well. It removes the ability to touch and can press screen buttons for you... annoying if you are not careful.
My biggest Hang up is why I purchased it. Freedom from my phone..... yeah. No. Two different carriers since I purchased my red dot gsm and I cannot send a text message when I’m not near my phone..... why apple why!?! I can call out. Just my texts fail to send. And I am looking at the tower.... calls come and go but never a text... looking into this issue.
Battery.
I generally get a full day out of this 18 hours with some time away from the phone and also in poor reception zones. Lead walls make it a little hard for Bluetooth to communicate to the phone some 40 meters away in internal building.
Messages are best dictated to the phone and for the most part come out well , mostly correct. I have had some wild ones.
Close your rings... oh now this is the fun part of the watch. Excercise. I’m not a big runner, no bears chase me so I don’t run. But trying to close your rings becomes a game all in its own. And if your always beating your rings the watch asks to make new goals. So you let it. And you will need to do more to close those rings. Love it!
Alerts and other apps.
Not much other than about 20 apps are worth it for the watch. Apple needs to really push this with developers and make this a better integrated experience. I look at my watch more than my phone. Some apps are just useless and buggy. Others time out due to not syncing with your phone... but wait I want to be free from my phone. Come on apple push for gsm linking to phone or data!
Feel and look. Wear this anyway you like change the band and you can then tell the watch (from your phone) what way it’s being worn and hand. That’s great.
Bands. Pricy but I have always gone back to my Nike Black it’s best to wash and easy to flip on and off.
Music control.
I use my watch to control my music everywhere. This has the best voice control for playlists and with the crown being volume control you can adjust all without ever fiddling with your phone. Skip pause etc all from your wrist. This makes it great when I’m relaxing at home working on my hobbies or have friends over and you want to change out your music or just lower the volume.
Now to share a really good reason to have this.
A friend who brought one because He saw its merits with myself and another couple of colleagues has his life to be thankful for it! Sailing he had boat difficulties and the boat became flooded. He was able to call his wife from his iwatch who was able to send the lifesavers to him and his location from his iwatch. They took a while but he was safe.
Cashless purchase
I have a card linked to my iwatch just for this.. shout out to Bank Australia. It’s the best way to always have cash on you. And no if your watch comes off your skin it locks and no one can access your payments without your pin.
Would I buy this again knowing what it’s like
Yes

Great watch – I owned a few Fitbit watches before deciding to switch to Apple Watch and it is a world difference. Very convenient if you also use an iPhone to sync all the apps and notifications. Only trade off is it has a much shorter battery life compared to Fitbit. Show details
No issue. Good watch. A bit pricy for me – I have no issues using the apple watch. it's very convenient and lightweight. Battery-life is amazing. I get to use it for a whole day. no connection issues. It's just pricy but overall great quality
Amazing no regrets – I was a little hesitant with reviews saying the battery life isn’t that good etc etc. but I’m glad I went ahead and made the purchase. I didn’t want cellular or anything too advanced. Hence why I went for the S3. It does everything I need it to. It’s good as I can still answer calls, respond to messages and receive other notifications when my… Read more
phone is near. It is comfortable to wear, the style is sleek and simple, and it’s super easy to navigate and use. The battery life actually isn’t too bad! I recommend!

A dodgy watch and appalling after sales service – I bought a second hand apple watch 2 and it was great until the face fell off. I went to the apply shop to get it fixed. They said could not be done and sold me a new apple 3 watch. 5 months later same problem the face fell off. I have been trying for a month to get them to replacement even threatening legal action. They forced me to go to the… Read more
manufacturer when under Australian law the retailer is to provide a remedy and they are refusing to relace it despite it also being Australian consumer law that if a product has a major fault the supplier must replace it. I advise avoid having any dealings with apple if you can - you may lose you sanity. I would have been better off throwing the $300 watch in the bin straight away.
Worst experience – I bought series 3 Apple Watch 2018. After 3 years of using it, all of a sudden it stopped turning on. While turning it on, it stucks at apple logo. Took it to apple store, and they told me it’s not repairable. Need to pay $350 to get it replaced. Paid nearly $600 for a watch which can work only for 3 years was my biggest mistake. Please make… Read more
sure about the life expectancy of the watch before spending so much of money on a watch.
Very disappointed.
Walking outdoor goal intensity requirement – Exercise intensity level should be changeable!! I wanted the motivation to reach activity goals but I am not moving fast enough for my exercise to record. 45min walk no result!! Show details

Veey handy – it is very useful to tract our health record like heart rate, pulse etc. Bluetooth makes easy to check phone calls and received messages. We dont need to talk on phone if driving or working as we can talk on this watch. Althouugh it says 18 hours of battery life but we still have to charge everyday which is really annoying for me. Water resistance to 50 metres. Good smart watch. Show details

Its what you have to get if you have apple – Got this as a birthday gift and have been using it constantly. I have worn it to sleep, takenna bath with it on and pretty much done everything wearing it. It does look a lil big on my wrists and heavy too but that is different for different people. I feel I sweat a lot on my wrist when I wear it and the band gets dirty a lot. other than that the functionality is good, has good charge life and works well. Show details
Love this watch – Love the watch face and how clear the watch display face is. watch using hundreds of apps as well. This apple watch has so many useful features and the colour selection offered is great.
