Hi I recently moved into a house with one of the Archer bay window log gas heaters. It’s ran on natural gas and I haven’t had heating on gas before. I’m just after any tips on running it, like is it ok to keep running of a night while asleep? If yes is it expensive to run, maintenance required. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Sam

Hi Sam....I have this same unit only a little older. I find that I use the unit to heat up our space then I turn it off once it gets too warm. I do not leave it on overnight. I feel I wouldn’t have to as I am warm enough under covers. When I get up in the morning I turn it on right away but always find I don’t need to leave it running for very long because it heats up the space quite well and our home holds the heat effectively. I cannot tell you whether or not it would be safe to leave it running overnight but I can tell you a unit such as this should be serviced once a year and you can call Aurora to see if there is someone in your area that does this. I have had this unit for over 20 years and just love it. We also have ducted air conditioning and heating and we don’t use the heating at all because the gas fireplace is effective enough and it is inexpensive to run.

On another note you could download the manual from the internet. You can get a lot of very useful information about your unit from the manual.

Hello, Alan our smallest heat output unit would be the Archer 720 series which only uses a maximum of 20 megajoules an hour on high or as little as 10 megajoules per hour on low also this unit is very efficient with an energy star rating of 5.9, so you probably would not need to run your slit system at the same time depending on the size of the area you are trying to heat the heating area for the 720 is up to 100 square meters depending on the glass area , ceiling height, and insulation, etc if you have any more questions, please give us a call on 1300 388 953 hope this has been of some assistance to you best regards from Aurora climate systems the manufacturer of the Archer gas log fires...............

HI.. My gas log heater remote control keeps playing up so decided to remove the remote control and place back in manual operation.Looking at the manual to place back in manual operation you remove the battery operated receiver unit from the heater which also removes the wiring loom to the red light and reintall the links which were left in the heater in case you wanted to return the heater to manual operation. . After reinstalling the 3 piece links that can only go one way the heater does not work anymore and worse still wont work if I put it back as was..Previously when you turned the 240 v ac power on the unit made a noise like a relay or something like that closing now just a slight hum of the transformer Front panel led, only light up from the batteries in the receiver not from the heater .If the 240ac power is turned off the front panel led per the batteries still shows led power on. Any help please? Regards Greg

Just adding a bit more info. My mistake looks to be 100 series with electronic control not a 300, We only moved in a couple of months ago and only recently found the instructions to the heater when we realised the remote was not working..Upon inspection at the heater found the receiver with four badly corroded AA batteries.which in turn had damaged the battery contacts.I suspect previous owners had not changed them for years. My thought was after reading the instructions on how to attach the remote control in the first place by removing the three links was to remove the damaged reciver even though it had a toggle switch to bypass the remote and reinstate the three links to put back as exiting before the remote was installed. As stated before that the links provided can only go one way on the pins so are completely puzzled by the end result..In the end cleaned the receiver and contacts up as best I could and placed back in wih new batteries .240v power on with no led power on light on front panl . With batteries in and reciever in remote power led light comes on even if 240v power is off, Heater does not work and are the batteries back feeding the system? Any help appreciated. regards Greg

I have a 2 burner Gas Log Fire (Archer) My problem is the noise after I shut down the unit. It is a clicking noise which I have attributed by guesswork to the pump system. I removed the front grate just now and saw inside that the noise was consistent with the movement of some liquid in a glass valve which seems to pulsate up and down with each click. You can take a look at this happening via this video I put on Youtube, link below:

Is there a quick fix I can carry out? Thank you.

Hello, Gerry, the first thing you can try is to clean out the inside of the pump container and then clean the probes in the pump container lid they are the screws with the red, black and white wires attached, they will need to be filed or sanded on the ends, also while your in there you should clean the inside of the 10mm clear tube that comes from the sump at the back of the heater to the bottom of the pump container, this should stop your pump from oscillating if it doesn't you may need to change your control box, its probably best you give us a call and we can guide you through the necessary procedures, this is easier than trying to do it in writing, our phone numbers that we can be contacted on are 1300 388 953 or (03) 9795-8895 from Monday to Friday between 9:00 am & 5:00 pm, hope this has been of some help best regards from tech support at Aurora climate systems the manufacturer of the Archer gas log fire's P.S when and if you ring it is best to have your serial No and date of manufacture available Thanks.....

Is it possible to fit a ducted system to a 300 series heater? Regards Dan

Aurora
Aurora   DM

Hello Dan it may be possible, but the heater needs to be an insert not freestanding, it would also need a cavity above it to fit the duct offtake, you would also need to speak to Aurora about getting a top heat shield made up to fit the duct offtake I don't know if it is possible but you can only ask, also if it is a bay window insert I would suggest you don't run more than three points, if you want more outlets you would have to go a more powerful model, Archer, if you have any further questions please speak to the staff at Aurora climate systems the numbers are 1300 388 953 or (03) 9795-8895 thank you for your question best regards from tech support at Aurora climate systems...

Hi I just moved into a place and I don't know how to turn the heater on. I flicked the 2 switches and pushed the little red button and nothing

Thermals

Hi Give Archer a call in Melbourne they are helpful ... if your power was disconnected it can cause the control to need to be reset which is easy ... but easy start 1. make sure the red button is off and both switches are off

2. Push the right hand switch to the on position (this switch on only first as two switches on at same time will blow the gas out)

3. Wait 3 minutes until one burner is fully lit

4. Push the other switch on

5. Wait 3 minutes heater should be fully lit

6 push in red button as this will keep heater going and not cut out when the room it hits a certain temperature

Hello, check power is turned on at the wall plug, should be a small red pilot light on the control panel. Find the remote control unit and press the Mode button to ON THERMO this will control the fire to the set temperature. Takes a little while to go through the start up. but you should hear fan noises straight away. Cheers.
