Would NEVER book through this company again. We booked 10 days in china and they have already cancelled one of our optional tours and offered us a very poor alternative. We were given no other choice . All through the process we were told our departure day was 25th march but 3 days before they changed our flight carrier, told us we were leaving on… Read more

the 24th and had a 12 hour layover in Xiaman. All our connecting travel to Sydney is for the 25th. As I write this, we have 8 business hours left before we leave and we have not received an itinerary, no hotels, no details at all. AND no e- ticket . This means we cant do our online checkin and when I called the airline, they have NO record of our booking at all. So, if we turn up at the airport day after tomorrow we are going on a magical mystery tour where we don't even know if we will get there or be picked up for tours or accommodation. We honestly don't know what to do.with extra tours, we spent a lot of money. Have never felt so angry or disappointed.

Do not book a holiday through this group, they get you in promise you an amazing holiday but our time away was not a carefree holiday. Booked 1 year ahead choosing the itinerary that suited us only to receive a different itinerary 2 weeks before we were set to leave. Included with this new itinerary we were told that they wanted $15 per day per… Read more

person for tipping for the guide, which in our case they said it worked out to $390, which I paid. The strange thing about is that other members of,the group were given different amounts, one couple paying $300. I questioned this with AVG who told me that the couple had agreed to pay the extra $90 on the last day of the tour. I questioned this with the couple who told me that that is not correct they had never had had that discussion with them. In actual fact to should only be 10 days not 14: 1st and last days were travelling - no guide; our last day was a free day - no guide. Our guide on the last day asked us to tip him, we all explained that AVG had collected the tipping amount. Not sure if he has received the money!!! I have asked for a refund of $90 plus the luggage forwarding amount of $56. They are refusing to do it as they still claim that it was 14 days Some of the accommodation was not close to places that you could get to easily, we were put into Osaka Bay which has nothing to offer tourists. We spent Money on an Uber as a group of 6 to get to the centre of Tokyo to get dinner. Not a cheap ride. Another hotel we stayed at was next to a truck stop, could only go to the farmers market on site to get our dinner. This was at 5:15 with the place closing at 6 pm. We got through this thanks to assistance of the hotel assistant. She was amazing. The original itinerary was that we would stay in 1 hotel in Osaka, all we would be travelling with was an overnight bag whilst in Hiroshima and that the bus would drop our bags at the hotel so we were not catching the Shinkansen from Hiroshima to Osaka with our cases. The bus driver told us that it would be difficult to do travel with luggage, I suggested to the group that we use the luggage forwarding company to forward our suitcases to Osaka. Great service. No assistance from AVG. We met up with another AVG group who as us were very disappointed with AVG same sort of issues. Japan is a wonderful beautiful country and should have been a holiday with no issues at all, if they had stuck to the original itinerary, shown a bit of care for their clients it would have been different. It has put us off ever doing another tour. BEWARE OF AVG.

Recently booked a Japan tour at an already discounted price. Paid deposit & then 2nd payment as per payment schedule. Within days of payment I get a marketing email from them offering same trip for $1000 less. Rang to complain & asked if I could be transferred to the new deal. Categoric no, you took the 1st deal & it's now non-refundable as it's… Read more

after 7 day cooling off period. Very obvious that the 2nd offer was only released after all takers for the 1st deal were already locked in. Very poor form, unfortunately we're locked in now at the original price. I hope the trip is better than their conduct so far, although I doubt it after reading all these shocking reviews. I wish I'd read them prior to booking now.

SCAM SCAM SCAM Don’t book any tours with this company, I’ve been dealing with [Name Removed], she promised my refund 30 days after they cancelled our tour to China! 30 days, that has come and gone, and even with emails no refund or confirmation on when it might come, they are obviously not a very financially stable company as I know lots of people are in the same position! So booking with them there’s no guaranteed they will book your trip even though they take your money! [Name Removed] CEO you need to sort your Business out, as this is an absolute disgrace for an Australian business in Melbourne, I want my $2099.00 back. I’m a single parent and can not afford this. They did try blackmail my girlfriend by saying remove the negative review and we will refund the money! Absolutely disgusting!

I would strongly advise against booking with AVG Travels based on my experience with their "12 Day Incredible China with Xi’an" tour. The communication from this company has been consistently poor from the start. as flight bookings. Repeated emails and phone calls throughout January and February 2025 were ignored. The tour was cancelled by AVG on 16 March 2025—just 28 days before departure—leaving us with no time to make alternative plans. While I was assured at the time that I would receive a full refund, I am still waiting to be refunded over four weeks later. The lack of urgency or accountability is deeply unprofessional. My family and I had organised time off work, planned our holiday around this tour, and now we are left with nothing—not even the courtesy of a timely refund. Despite being told that my refund was a “priority,” there has been no follow-through. It is now 15 April 2025, which would have been Day Three of our tour, and instead of travelling through China, we are stuck at home still chasing the money we are rightfully owed. The stress, wasted leave, and missed opportunity to rebook with another provider have all added to the frustration. Given how quickly financial transactions can be processed these days, the delay is honestly a joke. I will now be following through with the department of fair trading. Note: There is also 2 other groups. A total of 9 people and none of us have received our refund yet!!!!

Beware of additional costs and complications if travelling on school holidays or states other than Victoria or NSW – Perth travellers beware - cancelled tour or additional costs to pay. 2 weeks before travel(during July school holidays), we were advised the company could not book our flights, this had been booked for 7 months and paid in full. still have a holiday, missed out on the trip we actually booked at $2,600, it was raised $500 because of Perth departure, $300 for school holiday surcharge for 14 days in Vietnam and Cambodia, this was advised months before and agreed to and paid in full! then had to pay an additional $400 per person as they couldn’t get us there and take a shorter tour / got a 10 day Vietnam tour, no Cambodia! with a lot of stress! Tour guides in Vietnam were excellent, but many travellers were unhappy about flights and service from the Australian end. Melbourne office was who we dealt with.

Bad start , great trip – The trip was to Vietnam and Cambodia. Expect limited communication after you paid. We received our itinerary a week before departure **Accommodation:** Although the hotels were rated 4 stars and above, they were located well outside city centers—typically at least an hour’s drive—and in areas with little to no nearby attractions. This meant that if you opted out of the additional… Read more

optional tours, you were essentially confined to the hotel with limited alternatives.

**Tour Pacing & Priorities:** Daily departures were relatively late, often after 8 or 9 a.m., followed by lengthy bus rides (1–2 hours) to each site. This significantly limited the time available to explore actual tourist attractions, while more time was spent at commercial stops like silk factories and other government outlets.

**Optional Tours & Access Issues:** In the early part of the trip, those who chose not to participate in optional tours had to wait on the bus due to the remote locations. Later, when optional activities were located near interesting areas like markets, guests who didn’t pay for the optional tour were not permitted to accompany the group—even if traveling to the same location.

**Review Incentives:** We were told that guests who posted a five-star review with a photo of the tour guide would receive a $50 discount on a future booking. This raises questions about the authenticity of some online reviews.

**Optional Shows & Ticketing:** Some of our optional performances were booked last-minute upon arrival. Despite paying for premium seats, we were sometimes given lower-tier seating. While the agency claimed their prices were cheaper, we found online booking alternatives that were comparable or more transparent—suggesting the markup is more about convenience than value.

**Attraction Access & Hidden Fees:** One notable example: the itinerary included a visit to the Wild Goose Pagoda, We were told upon arrival that entry required us to book an optional tour. Those who declined could only view it from a distance.

There were a few incidental charges not clearly stated upfront. Guests were required to rent headsets at some attractions due to local noise restrictions. Despite the itinerary stating “all transport included,” we had to pay extra for shuttle buggies at major sites like lakes and the Terracotta Warriors. Not paying meant missing out on the visit with the group

which we booked for our 1st night in Toyko (Sunshine Prince Hotel). We wasted our 2nd day in Tokyo trying to get to Toyoko Inn Imba Nihon-idai Ekimae which was where the tour started the following day. This hotel was literally in the middle of nowhere, Hotel staff advised for dinner to try the vending machines which had snacks (Poor). Every hotel on the tour was at least 60 minutes from tourist location, which resulted in not experiencing the Japanese culture and food. E.g. Hiroshima Airport Hotel 50 minutes from Hiroshima in the middle of nowhere with 2 options for food Airport or Hotel. The tour guide had limited English and limited knowledge of Japan. We were told via the very late itinerary we had to give the tour guide and the bus driver a tip of $10 per day which we didn't budget for, why do they not pay the tour guide and driver properly - Scam.

for our own international flights at a personal cost of over $2,900 — nearly five times the partial refund we were offered (which took nearly two months to receive).

Communication around this issue was confusing and stressful both before departure and after our return when we sought clarification. We were initially told all Australian travellers were affected, which we later discovered was not accurate.

The land component of the tour was well-organised, and the local guides were knowledgeable and helpful, particularly with language support. The itinerary included high-pressure shopping stops, which are common for this tour style. The land tour alone was a solid 3-star experience, but the unresolved flight issue and poor communication significantly impacted our overall satisfaction.

We hope our experience encourages improved transparency and customer care in the future.

sites was poorly handled. Surely AVG includes entrance fees in cost of trip. Tips are for service received! Our guide was unwell and left us for a day and a half, so we actually had him for 8 1/2 days on a 14 day trip. Our replacement guide for 1 day was far superior and we wished he could have stayed! Hotels were located far from tourist areas where it was difficult to find eating places where people spoke any English. We did not visit some of the places included in the itinerary. Poor communication with company prior to leaving; late final documentation and changes to hotels at last minute. Generally, as we were disappointed with our guide and we would not recommend travel with AVG.

I booked a 17 day Vietnam small group tour as surprise birthday trip for my husbands 50th birthday, it would be 2 adults and a 15 year old. We were told there would be 12 people in our group. appeared to be well out of the tourist area. It was in fact a 10 minute taxi ride to the city area where most tourists stay. We were picked up the next morning for our transport to Halong Bay where we were to spend the night aboard a boat with our tour group. There were 24 people in the tour group (double the advertised and confirmed amount). Upon arriving at the harbour we were then told we would be joined by 14 other people from another group. We now had 38 people on board a ship that originally was meant to be 12. We completed the Overnight at Halong Bay and returned to our hotel on the outskirts. We had to check in again and were all given different rooms. The first night our rooms were ok, the second time however, the floor in our room sagged and I was worried we would actually fall through and our sons room smelt strongly of urine. We were not able to change rooms. Our tour guide advised us on the coach that we would need to pay a tip of $10 per day per person. As this was our first time with a guided tour, we did not know it was actually optional and we should not be paying for days when we did not have a guide available. When our booking was made, I was very clear that our son had a disability and would need to stay in a hotel on the same floor, preferably close to us. ( The tour company advised there was no tripe share rooms so he would need to stay in his own room at an additional cost). I had advised our booking consultant who was a direct employee of AVG that due to his disability he would not be able to climb up onto a bunk in a sleeper carriage for the train to Hue. I was assured this would not be a problem. We arrived at the train and we were told by our tour guide, that it was tough luck about our son, but he didnt have a choice he would need to go on the top. The other person in our group could not climb up either, and she was told the same, climb up too bad. She ended up going and finding another carriage and paying additional money to the staff on board. We arrived in Hue on the sleeper train and taken to our hotel, another 2 or 3 star hotel that had no facilities for anyone with a disability. We had a passenger in our group with a walker and cane and each day he moved with difficulty. There was. no pool or spa at this hotel. We were left to our own devices. I asked our tour guide about a money changer in Hue as the hotel rate was very low at 1400, and the street/bank rate was 1600. He said that the bank was a long way away and he could offer 1500. I said no thats fine, tell us where the bank is, it turns out the bank was 300 metres around the corner from the hotel. I didnt like the idea that he appeared to want to take advantage so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. However, I was under the impression that we were paying for guides that were there to assist and help. The other traveller in our carriage on the train became very unwell and needed to be admitted to hospital and our guide just gave her directions to catch a cab. She was in hospital for 3 days with Influenza A and remained very weak for the rest of the trip. At no time did he check in on her. She also had to find her own way to the airport to arrive at HMC and Phu Quoc island. When we arrived by coach to Hoi An, we were taken to a place of accomodation that does not even have a star. The beds were broken, the curtains were torn, the bathrooms flooded and there was no restaurant nearby and it was in the middle of nowhere, they said the pool and gym were being repaired. A google check revealed the pool has been under repair for over a year. Several guests complained to their travel agents and we were moved the next day to a lovely hotel that was about a 15 minute walk from the city of Hoi An. I emailed our consultant Paul regarding the dismal accomodation but never received an answer. They also tried to put our son and us in separate hotel buildings and when I objected our guide told me to just deal with it. I had asked our travel guide Hoang about organising something special for my husband on his 50th birthday, and he said he could help. He had contacted me and told me it would cost 1 million dong for the hotel to help decorate it for me. I accepted this amount. I went to see Reception about paying the money and they told me that it was no charge, it was their pleasure to help celebrate. I made sure twice that this was ok, as I was happy to pay. Both times I was advised it was no charge. On the morning of my husbands birthday we went out and I keep receiving messages from Hoang about the money. He keep saying I needed to leave him 1 million dong in an envelope or the hotel would not be able to decorate. I told him I had sorted with hotel, and he asked for the money again. It was not until I told him they had said no charge did he stop messaging for the money. I cannot believe how dishonest this man is, he is paid tips and a regular wage yet he is trying to steal from travellers. I did not see him the next day. AVG cancelled our flight out of Danang to Ho Chi Ming City and put us on another flight, which would have been fine, however, they divided the 26 of us as we had more people join the 12 person tour, sent some of them on Vietnam Airlines which is a service airline and put the rest of us on Vietjet, the cattle truck of airlines and we sat in the airport for hours as our flight keep getting delayed. We thought we would just not arrive at one point it was getting late. We missed a tour we had booked based on our arrival time. When we did arrive our guide that met us was very rude and told us to hurry as he had had to wait around for our plane to arrive. He had no cold water and couldnt find the bus. We were all very tired and hot as HMC is close to the equator. When we arrived at the hotel in District 10 again we were told our son was on another floor to us, you cannot access any other floor than the one you are on, so this meant he could not come and be with us. He started to stress and I told the hotel that this was not acceptable and I was tired of the same problem at every hotel. It was documented that he needed to be near us. Our guide Nam Huy told to suck it up and wait until tomorrow its no big deal. I told him it was the wrong day to say this and that it would be fixed tonight. He left. Our guide took us on a day trip that was two trips combined into one due to the change in our flights so again we all missed the additional tour we had paid for as we did not get back until very late. We stayed in a business hotel in District 10 and I would give it 3 stars. There was no facilities at the hotel. We were in an area that did not see tourists really, as we needed to use a translator app for everything. We were so far out that the only time we saw another Westerner was in our own group. We were lucky to find a restaurant by chance who happened to have a customer who could speak English otherwise we would have had to eat in the hotel every night. Whilst we absolutely loved Viet Nam and we met some beautiful people and will be back to visit again, we would not recommend AVG to anyone. Hoang was fillng in our reviews on the bus and telling us we needed to leave 5 star reviews and send to him before sending to the company. He changed two peoples reviews! Being told you are on a small group tour and then finding out there is 24 of you was not a great experience, everyone in our group was great, however, small is small for a reason. The attitudes of the guides was disgusting. Our guide in Hanoi was great, informative, funny and made the journey enjoyable. Our other two guides Hoang and Ham Huy should not be tour guides. We value honesty above all else and found that this tour did not provide what was promised, there was no follow up and the employees are dishonest and would steal from the guests if given a chance. If you ever happen to be in District 10 in HMC then please visit Xom Chai Ong Nau at 30-32 Dong Nai, P15, Q10, most amazing restaurant and would eat there everynight if I could. If staying in Hoi An, then the Babyloon Riverside Hotel is lovely, its small but the staff and facilities are great. There are other tour options available for Vietnam and they would be worth following up on before looking at AVG.

Extremely disappointed with my experience with AVG Travels. I booked a China tour (12 Day Incredible China with Terracotta Warriors) for April 2025 nearly a year in advance with a group of about 20 friends, paying in full — and even paid extra to depart earlier on 17 April with a friend, while the rest of our group flew on 20 April. Despite this,… Read more

AVG failed to book flights for four of us — and didn’t inform us until March, just weeks before our trip because they messed up with the airline.

Communication was awful from the start. [Name Removed] was our original consultant but rarely responded. Later, [Name Removed] took over and requested our passport details in January to confirm flights — but then we heard nothing for nearly two months. When he finally responded, we were told our flights were never booked (we suspect they oversold seats with China Southern Airlines).

AVG then offered completely unacceptable alternatives: • Change to the “land only” package and pay $1,500 out of pocket for our own flights — which were included in the original package. So they’re making us pay for their mess-up! • Change to a later date (25 April) that separates us from our group — and falls during Golden Week, a national holiday when most things are closed and it's extremely crowded. • Or after constant back-and-forth, take a full refund (though they initially insisted on credit) — as if that fixes the emotional stress, wasted time or ruined plans.

How is it fair that we're being punished for their mistake, while 16 of our friends (some who booked later) are travelling as planned without any issues? This was meant to be a birthday trip with my sister and close friends — now completely ruined!

Even after agreeing to a refund, AVG said it could take 14 - 30 days to process the request, despite delivering zero service. We did everything right — paid in full and on time — and they didn’t honour their part. It has now been 30 days and they responded that it's on the "wait list"....like WTH does that even mean!!

To top it off, AVG Travels also deletes negative or complaint comments on their Facebook page and bans you if you voice out too much which makes them so misleading and deceptive!!

Avoid AVG Travels. I would never recommend them to anyone.

December 2024 trip to $7,587.

From the very beginning, communication from AVG Travels was lacking. After full payment was made, we received no confirmation of flights or key travel details. Multiple emails and phone calls throughout January and February 2025 went unanswered.

Then, just 28 days before our departure, on 16 March 2025, the tour was cancelled by AVG. This gave us no time to organise alternative plans. We were assured of a full refund, but as of 15 April 2025—four weeks later—we still haven’t received a cent.

It’s now the third day we should have been on tour, yet instead of experiencing China, we’re left at home chasing the refund we are owed. We’ve taken time off work, lost the opportunity to rebook with a different company, and been left in the dark.

Despite repeated assurances that our refund is a "priority," there has been no action, no urgency, and no accountability. It’s incredibly stressful and frustrating.

Considering how easily and quickly financial transactions are processed these days, the delay feels completely unacceptable. I’ll now be lodging a complaint with the Department of Fair Trading.

Do not book with AVG Travels.

A Disappointing Experience with AVG – A Disappointing Experience with AVG Unfortunately, our experience with AVG left us feeling like just another number, with little to no attention to detail or genuine client care. The Highlights? Ironically, the best parts of our supposed 5-star Vietnam tour were activities we arranged ourselves once we were in Vietnam though other agencies * A… Read more

street food tour in Hanoi. * A private cooking class in Hoi An. * A Ho Chi Minh City show recommended by another tourist. * A Jeep Tour through Hanoi

The Lowlights? There were several, but the most notable were:

The Sapa Leg of the Tour

The 2 day Sapa portion of our 12-day Vietnam tour was disappointing. We were a group of four (two couples who met at Hanoi Airport). My husband injured his knee during the Halong Bay cruise and couldn’t do the 3-hour Sapa walk. The other couple (both in their mid 70s), had already informed AVG that they couldn’t do the walk either and were assured that an alternative plan would be arranged.

The ‘alternative’ provided? “Just stay in your Sapa hotel for two days.”

Given the 5–7 hour drive from Hanoi to Sapa (depending on traffic) our group collectively opted to remain in Hanoi and cover our own accommodation costs which we all thought was fair enough. However, when we asked AVG to allow the designated Sapa driver to drop us at our chosen Hanoi hotel or to pick us up afterward and transport us back to the AVG-designated hotel, the answer was a flat “no.” We also requested a half-day tour in Hanoi as an alternative but AVG declined.

Lack of Communication and Organization

Even before departure, there were warning signs. Getting a detailed itinerary was almost impossible until 1.5 weeks before the trip. While we understood flights would be booked close to departure, we needed approximate dates to coordinate with friends in Vietnam. The number of messages, emails and people we had to deal with to get basic information was overwhelming and chaotic.

Requesting ‘Extra Leg Room Seats’

With a very large husband, seat selection is important. We duly noted on our forms that we required extra legroom seating and were happy to pay the additional cost. I spoke & emailed AVG 4 times to ensure the request was received and was assured it would be actioned. 2 days before departure we were told that we could only book those seats at the airport. On arrival at all international & domestic terminals, zero ‘extra leg room’ seats were available and we were told we should have booked them through our travel agent

Final Thoughts

The overall experience with AVG was marked by a complete lack of customer focus. Once they had our payment and issued our tickets, it felt like they washed their hands of us. For a company advertising 5-star tours, the service and care were severely lacking.

I would highly recommend booking your own tours, accommodation & flights or use a more reputable customer focussed company.

Avoid this is a seamless cash grab – Jason is rude and forces partipants to attend "optional tours" stating there's no way to get back to the hotel even though the itenarary states you can go back to the hotel, told us we cannot take a taxi in china as no one speaks English and was rude and short when we told him we didn't want to attend one of the optional tours, your forced to pay… Read more

tips, my understanding is that tips are something people pay when they feel it's deserved not demended your ushered into sales rooms on every outing, we were asked to pay for damages to a hotel room TV that we never damaged. We're taken to a herbal institute told we would get a free foot massage then again tips were demanded. Lily from wuxi to shanghai was amazing however we'd already had a bad taste in our mouth And you know what we left the group at the end took dozens of taxi in china without being able to speak any Chinese shoped booked other accommodation and had a great time. Avoid the seamless cash grab.

Heartless & cruel when my dad died, I just wanted to postpone my trip to Vietnam – I needed to postpone my trip to Vietnam and provided proof that my father was suddenly ill (he passed around the date of my trip) all I wanted was to postpone my trip or at least get a voucher to apply when I rebook. This would've been a great help as I still plan to travel to Vietnam.. AVA was cruel and only offered 10% off our next booking with… Read more

ONLY a FEW days to start a new booking and I was in mourning. Cruel. I didn't even ask for a full refund. I've lost my dad and my money.

Terrible experience with AVG Travel – SCAM !!! Think a 100 times before using AVG Travel. We purchased a holiday to Japan, the itinerary was changed 10 days before departure. We asked to speak to someone in management and this request was denied numerous times. We were advised that if we did not go, despite the change we will not be reimbursed. The tour was terrible, the programs were… Read more

not as described and were unorganized. Of the 8 days, only 3 days had activities. One of those days we spent 4 hours each way to visit mount Fuji, for only a 20 minute boat ride before we had to return to the Hotel. Upon our return we put in a formal complaint and tried to have a conversation regarding compensation as they did not adhere even to the changed program. They advised that because we completed the tour we can not be refunded/ compensated. So on one hand if we didn't go we will lose the trip and because we went we are not entitled to compensation. It was a lose, lose situation for my wife and I. We are pensioners and don't have money to burn. Please do not use this company they are a scam!!!! They have countless reviews like this, I wish I had seen before we used them. Now I will be escalating this matter with Fair trading.

SCAM TOUR? Concerned The Company Had Folded Up – I booked and paid for a tour to China some months ago, the tour leaves in a month and despite many phone calls to their office have received no further information other than the original receipt of my payment. Now I see the original company has just changed it's name although has same owner. Very concerned that I now see so many awful reviews about people being stranded overseas with no contact or sometimes no hotel. Show details

Vietnam tour – I just finished a tour to Vietnam. The hotels chosen for this trip were way below expectations. In Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City we were in very bad areas. I would pay more for decent places to stay. Ho Chi Minh was the worst. Just walking out was dangerous. Was very upset to see with a city tour there were plenty of hotels in nicer areas. Will never go on a tour again. In future I’ll organise my own. Show details

Steer way from Asia Vacation Group – Steer away from Asia Vacation Group! It's a scam Advertising for 10 day Incredible China. The trip was only 9 days in China not 10 days. If I have to do it again, I would take my money to a full 10 day China tour supply by others, such as Flight Center, Tripadeal... Very low quality, unorganised tour. Hotels located very far away from the center.… Read more

For example, It took our bus 2 hours drive from our hotel in Shanghai to Shanghai CBD. Tour guiders confirmed that there's nothing to do around the hotels where we stay, so that, all of us should buy optional tours. Older people and little kids beware! Constant extremely late checkin. During first day in China, we have checked in the hotel in Beijing at 1:30am (yes 1:30 in the morning of the second day). It meant we didn't do anything on the first day. On other day, we checked in at hotel in Wusi at midnight, 00:30am. Bullet train arrived on schedule at 10:40pm. We had to wait 45 mins under the rain to wait for the bus coming to pick us up. Took money, did not provide the service. We bought optional tour at the same time with booking in Australian. When we were in China, local tour said they didn't received the money for those optional tours. We had to pay again. They promised a refund when we got back to Australia. After almost 2 months, no refund has been made.

Cstomer service – This review is for the customer service given by AVG and not for the tour itself, which is run by a Japanese company (they did a good job). We booked a tour of V&C which was cancelled by covid. AVG refused to give us a refund and lost our details. I had to send them a copy of all correspondence so they could find out how much I had paid. We opted… Read more

for the 8-day Japan tour. The itinerary clearly stated- ‘Please look for ASIA VACATION GROUP welcome sign when you arrive at your final destination. Our tour guide and driver will be waiting for you at the airport.’ We arrived at Narita airport at 7.30am and spent two hours outside and repeatedly walking through the airport looking for this sign. At 10am I sent an email requesting urgent assistance. No reply, although I later received conformation that this email was received. At 12pm We caught a bus to our hotel at our expense. I expect this to be reimbursed. This was a very stressful experience as we had left home (ADL) at 7.30am the previous day. I managed to contact the tour guide at the hotel (where English was not spoken well) at 8.15pm. Until that time, we had no clue what was happening. AVG needs to put customer service first -my experience was somewhere between abysmal and non-existent.

Horrible experience - I do not recommend AVG – Horrible experience, I strongly recommend not booking through Asia Vacation Group. We booked a fixed price Vietnam trip (inclusive of flights, accomodation and tours) to depart June 2023 with friends, using a Groupon voucher. AVG repeatedly rescheduled the trip, then asked us to pay an additional $300 per person due to “inflation after COVID-19,… Read more

the service prices and the airfares increase a lot compared to the original price”. This is despite the tour still being advertised at the price we originally paid. After refusing to pay more money, our trip was cancelled shortly before we were due to depart. Since then, we made numerous requests for a refund but AVG ignored most of our emails. Eventually they approved a refund but then never paid it. We recovered part of the money back via Groupon, but 10 months later we are still trying to get refunds for the portion we paid directly to AVG. Only Lealia responds to our emails, and just repeatedly says it’s “with the Finance team”. I believe they do not intend to ever pay the refunds. I would never use them again.

Poor Communication and Hard to Contact – I booked a trip and then they inflated the prices. demanded final payment but refused to provide any invoice , finally business class airfares increased by $8000, ignored requests for an invoice. Received email for remaining balance $2199 per person, this included a $400 "inflation fee" -- 2 days later (34 day before departure) they increased… Read more

this to $6350 per person they strung us along with their delays and bad communication to sting us with the increased costs. They seem to make their own rules up as they go. Stay away from Asia Vacation Group as they are not trustworthy and have poor ethics.

Terrible service – We have been waiting for a refund that supposedly ‘being processed’ for over a year now. How long does it take to process a refund? What a ridiculous way to run a company. If you can’t honour what has been paid for then a refund is the right thing to do. Do not waste your money on this company Show details

Worse travel organisation I have ever used – For 5 months I have endured nothing but problems with this company. They kept saying that dates were unavailable until I had to make the decision to change a pre-covid 20 day Cambodia & Vietnam tour to a 14 day Cambodia & Vietnam tour which they wanted more money because they didnt have enough numbers to eventually going on a 10 day Vietnam only… Read more

tour. Then one and a half weeks before our departure they cancelled the tour which I had already organised visas for. Two weeks later after rescheduling pet sitters and domestic flights on the day of departure my husband was still waiting on his visa. They claimed it was the fault of Vietnam immigration but they left it too late to lodge the new visas. The stress they caused for their incompetence is inexcusable. To avoid these problems do not book with this company they are not reliable.
