I bought a used refurbished laptop from ACT and I was very pleasantly surprised at how good the quality is. The USB C supplied was not the best and i advised them of the problem and they immediately replaced with brand new cord. Very good customer service. Good reurbished product as advertised. I suspect this is a fake business. Avoid. Took my money, never sent the product. Cannot contact them. Messaged via “contact us” form and attempted phoning 13 times. Show details
Rigid Policies and Awful Communication! Absolute nightmare experience. I made a mistake on an order and filed a cancellation request within 5 minutes of placement. Rather than honouring a standard, immediate request, this store waited 48 hours to decline it, falsely claiming the package had shipped. The tracking number they provided proves it… Read more
hasn't even been picked up yet, they just printed a label to lock in the sale.
They are now ghosting my messages. I am incredibly grateful I bought this through eBay, as their team is stepping in to force a resolution. If you buy from them directly, you will have zero recourse. Proceed with major caution.

Just picked up an iMac from ACT today that I originally ordered online. I personally had a decent experience with them, nice customer service on the phone and in person, at their store and warehouse. (FYI their warehouse is about 15 min drive from their store). The computer was packaged suitably for me picking it up (and babying it home). I've… Read more
added some photos of the condition of the refurbished iMac, freshly unboxed, and a video showing that it turned on and connected a bluetooth mouse easily.
Mine was sold as an 'A Grade'. The screen is perfect. There are a few noticeable scuffs on the back of the monitor only, and some tape residue on the front. The scuffs are fine - I haven't noticed them again since unboxing. I think, however, the tape residue could have been removed by ACT. Likewise the cord to the monitor was pretty disgusting honestly, with questionable gunk and caked-on dust (photos shown). It hadn't been wiped, so before plugging it in, I just used some antibacterial wipes and it came up fine. ACT leaving this mess on the computer showed lack of care or respect to customers.
I would recommend ACT, however I would ***strongly advise picking up your purchase at their store or warehouse*** (if you're able), rather than risk issues with delivery through a third party. If you're yet to experience an horrific delivery experience, please heed peoples warnings about that. I originally ordered my iMac to be delivered then called first thing the next morning about picking it up myself. On the call the ACT consultant told me "that was a good move because 90% of delivered computers arrive to customers damaged". It surprised me that they would have still allowed my computer to be delivered despite knowing this.
The iMac I received says it has 24GB RAM 1TB Fusion Drive as listed on the ad, however the system is very slow on startup and opening programs like MS Suite or web browsers initially (seems to work fine once the windows are first opened). This machine is not used for gaming or watching media, just occasional online meetings - very light use.
Broken PC – bought a pc online from them which arrived to me broken, got one response from them, then they just ghosted me i would like my money back, they gave me a refund so im updating the review to honor the refund, thank you to them.

Bought an HP elite book laptop, it was shipped fast, and arrived exactly as described at the start of March. I've been using it almost every day for Uni and have had no issues so far. Seems to be a very legitimate company, I was a little worried when buying from their store online initially, but it has been a seamless, easy, affordable experience.… Read more · 1

this. Spent considerable time and money thinking I must be doing something wrong. Local computer shop just started laughing, photos taken as unit had never been assembled correctly. Returned by self as have spent too many days asking supplier. Stress full, frustrating, angry just hoping to get money returned this year ? Do Not Buy you have been made aware.
Follow-up · Item returned. Full refund recieved. The advertisment for item wrongly worded, to my wayof thinking. Hard drive is a hard drive, item had an on board memory chip not stated in the add. Item still failed to turn on for me. Customer service improved my view a fair amount. So an increase in stars was required.

Someone's not picking orders and sending out the right products , Ordered a standard Dell desktop , received a computer ready for gaming instead with more ram and newer Intel gen CPU . Can't complain
My experience was positive. I was very happy with the condition of the laptop I purchased but not with the peripheral I ordered. Initially I had some trouble getting in touch with them but when I did, I received a prompt refund. They also assisted me with a setup issue that was outside the scope of customer service. I would buy from them again. Show reply
My initial dealings with APT were not that positive. I ordered a laptop, it got here quickly and was well packed. However, I could not login in to it as it was still logged in to an administrator. I contacted APT, and they initially assured me that it was easy to get around. It wasn't. It then took some time to be able to organise a return and… Read more · 1
replacement - their communication does need improving. However, they did keep trying to remedy the situation and I now have a working laptop. So for that I have given them 4 stars.

Absolutely disgraceful after-sales service. Do not buy from this company. I bought a laptop here in November for my son to use at school. A few months in, a line appeared down the screen — a clear fault with the product. I posted it back to them and I have AusPost delivery confirmation that the laptop landed at their premises on 1 April. It is… Read more
now 20 April — almost three weeks — and I have heard absolutely nothing from them.
I have called their support line more times than I can count and no one ever picks up the phone. Not once. I rang the store directly in desperation and was told someone would "pass a message through" to the support team. Surprise, surprise — no call back. I submitted a web enquiry asking for an update. No reply. Complete radio silence.
Meanwhile my son has been without his school laptop for weeks because this company cannot be bothered to answer a phone, return a call, or type a single email to a paying customer whose product failed. It is an absolute joke. Taking someone's money is apparently the only part of the job they are interested in — the moment something goes wrong they vanish.
Save yourself the grief. There are plenty of other retailers out there who actually stand behind what they sell. This one does not. Never again.
2 laptops 1 for my son for schooling and 1 for me for home , both laptops were supposed to be GRADE A both had several issues from battery , to software to hard drive issues usb slots not working ect sent both back several times to get the problems fixed to only receive another laptop with more issue , after being told they would be checked… Read more

Purchased a Dell XPS13 laptop. It arrived promptly but when I went to set it up, the computer was still locked to the Aust. Govt. Dept. who previously owned it. This is 100% evidence that the computers are not looked over thoroughly as advertised. If this was the case, then they would have picked up that the computer was still locked to the… Read more
original owner. ACT offered to fix the issue if I send it back, replacement or refund which is all very reasonable with the exception of my time. However, I only purchased this computer for specific training which is time sensitive and none of these solutions will work for me. I purposely ordered an "A" grade refurbed computer to avoid any such issues and they were unable or unwilling to offer a suitable replacement. I spoke to two people there and am awaiting a call back. Not sure why they could not action the refund immediately.
I’m leaving this review after a completely unacceptable experience with ACT regarding my Surface Book 2 — both in terms of after‑sales service and the condition of the “refurbished” device they sold me. I reported a clear hardware fault and was issued an RMA. I paid out of pocket to return the device. ACT received it and sent it straight back on… Read more
the same day without addressing the issue I logged. Their “inspection notes” were generic and didn’t reference the fan issue at all, which strongly suggests they didn’t even read the fault description.
I repeatedly asked for a return label so they could re‑inspect the device properly. Instead of acknowledging their oversight, communication suddenly stopped for three days — despite previously replying within an hour or two every time. Only after I said I would escalate did they respond, and the tone changed completely.
Rather than addressing their errors or providing the return label I requested, the representative leaned on the “if no fault is found, you will have to pay” line as a pressure tactic. It felt less like customer service and more like an attempt to discourage the customer from pursuing a legitimate issue.
On top of that, the refurbishment process itself was deeply concerning. The device I received did not resemble the “A‑grade” condition advertised:
The laptop arrived dirty, and when I asked for a cleaning kit, I was told “we don’t have cleaning kits,” which does not inspire confidence in their refurbishment standards.
The operating system was not properly installed. The device repeatedly BSOD’d when attempting to boot into Windows, and I had to reinstall the OS myself.
The battery was completely dead on arrival, indicating it wasn’t checked or charged before being boxed up.
A non‑genuine charger was included, and this charger caused significant electrical leakage, making the entire laptop tingly to the touch — a genuine safety hazard.
The device had one major dent and two minor dents, plus general wear and tear — nowhere near A‑grade.
The Surface Book 2 contains two batteries (tablet and keyboard). The tablet battery wear was exactly 20%, and the keyboard battery wear was above 20%. ACT claimed “only the tablet battery matters,” which makes no sense because both components function as a single unit. No reasonable grading system would classify this as A‑grade; it wouldn’t even qualify as B‑.
All of this was compounded by clear procedural failure. ACT did not follow several steps they claim on their own website, including proper inspection, acknowledgement of the logged fault, and maintaining transparent communication. None of the promised process was followed in practice.
In the end, I accepted the faulty item back and lost money on postage, with no resolution and no accountability from ACT. This experience shows a complete lack of care, transparency, professionalism, and adherence to their own procedures.
I’m sharing this so others know what to expect: poor communication, ignored fault details, misleading refurbishment standards, procedural failure, and a refusal to take responsibility.

They were terrific in terms of sales- of course. Problem is when something goes wrong and you have to send items back, they don't give you any information, and then when the same issues keep happening they are terrible to respond. Eventually they ignore or palm off until you are out of warranty and then too bad you are left with an unusable laptop. Will not be purchasing from them again and telling others to avoid. My second purchase from Dodgy Brothers Computer Traders aka Australian Computer Traders. This is my first and hopefully, last review on this (and similar) website. My intention is to help potential customers from going through the hell that I went through. after several desperate calls from me) 2. Turned out to be completely unusable because it was still attached to the previous laptop owners company (Allianz should know that their assets are being sold to the public) 3. Required several follow up calls and emails from me to get a refund. This has easily been the worst online purchase experience in my life. I spent countless hours trying to get an answer from them and this ordeal took a heavy toll on my mental health- I didn't purchase the laptop to play games, I urgently needed it for work.
To make matters worse, it's extremely hard to get through their customer care number and when they do pick up, you will be lucky to receive help from their support team. Most of them were outright rude and/ or disinterested. They also failed miserably to do the one thing that they should be good at: ensuring these second hand laptops are actually wiped clean and usable for their customers. It boggles my mind to think that they couldn't even check if the laptop is still attached to the organisation they bought it from. I wouldn't be surprised if they barely have staff left to do either the technical work or attend to customers. You will be better off getting a second hand laptop from some sketchy person on the street than this so-called company.

Bought a supposedly A-grade refurbished HP Elitebook X360 1040 G6. Wasn't even wiped down with a moist cloth.
