Cut Flower grower – The course gave me the right amount of material to expand our cut flower business, the content was well delivered and very informative. The course was about medium rated for difficulty and just hard enough that it made you explore for more information on certain topics, overall, very pleased with the course. Show reply

This course provided me with the information I was seeking. I was grateful for the opportunity to work at my own pace and had regular follow up from the tutors. The course was not difficult, though there was some research and reading required. Show reply

I just finished 3 units of the Social Housing Course and was satisfied with the balance of learning intensity as well as the ease in following instructions. This is an excellent way of taking the course at my own pace, which is important for me. Going over the resources, across topics and completing assessments have been motivating, and matched my determination to finish what I've started. Show reply

I've always wanted to be a vet since I was a child but life has decided otherwise. After a career in management, it is about time for me to change direction and to come back to my real motivation in life, animals. I have recently had the privilege to be accepted in an equestrian club near my place to come and observe horses anytime I want. I… Read more ·  2

already have noticed a few points of improvement, thanks to what I learned in your Animal Behaviourist course. The equitherapy is also very interesting. I've watched a documentary on YT about a centre in Australia that helps young children in distress by reducing the rate of suicide among them, that's just wonderful. After a little bit of experience here in New Caledonia, I would like to come and visit how horses are handled in Australia on this matter. Horse welfare could also be a direction for me to consider. I will certainly register to more courses in the future at AOC.

Total waste of money, the Horticulture course is super super basic, it doesn't not go into any depth of useful information. Total waste of money. Contains plant pictures with black outline that is supposed to be useful. Purchased this to learn more about pests and diseases and learnt nothing that is of value. Very disappointed.

Very basic course – As a new small business owner of a cleaning business, I thought it would be best to do a course to ensure I am doing the right thing when it comes to cleaning and products. I thought the course would of had more content, to cover in more detail about basic ideas of cleaning. The course did give the basis about domestic and commercial cleaning, however for the price you could of learnt this from google. Show details

Waste of Money – I signed up and paid in 2020 to do my Certificate in Import & Export Logistics. When I commenced the course the information was no more detail than what you could search online. I never submitted any modules or completed the course. An Import & Export course with no module on Incoterms is no good to any person. Not once did I get a phone call to… Read more

interactive learning options beyond reading, the material itself was well-structured and informative. The assessments were challenging in the best way, they pushed me to apply and manifest the knowledge I had gained, which really reinforced my learning. The response times from tutors and the support team were swift, professional, and straight to the point, which made the process smooth and stress-free. Overall, I would highly recommend this platform to anyone looking to learn new skills, further their education, or gain practical knowledge for work. In a time when people are hungry for knowledge, this is a brilliant way to upskill without going through the traditional TAFE or university route.

Great Learning Experience – I signed up for the Horticulture course last December and completed it in about 50 hours, or about 2.5 weeks for each module. The content was organised in a way that gave me the information I wanted or made it easy to find, which was better than trying to teach myself. The cost was reasonable and the tutors were great. I suggest using "WeTransfer" for large files and an online reference generator for citations. Show reply

Very Disappointing – AOC are more interested in financial gain than education. I enrolled in a Transcription Editing course. A few weeks later I suffered a serious back injury and was unable to walk. and type for extended periods so my course was no longer suitable. I contacted AOC and asked for a refund given the extenuating circumstances of my physical ability to carry out the course work. The response was, we can only give you an extension. I explained that my condition was ongoing and indefinite so an extension was no use. The response was that I could just complete the bits of the course that didn't require typing. Ummmm, well what is the use of half finishing a course that I can't actually seek ongoing employment in? I'm sure a half finished course would look great on my CV to future employers? Not! I then asked AOC if I could transfer to a different course that was more suited to my physical ability. The answer was no. Quite clearly, AOC are more interested in taking your money than actually educating students. Extremely disappointing.

Disappointed and Let down – What annoys me is that they use BSBHRM unit subjects (as i completed a certificate of HR) which are national training units and when i asked are you a RTO the answer was no (fair enough) except on my completion individual records states they are an RTO and they use national framework units. I would recommend the "Prepare Tax Documentation for Individuals" course – I did the AOC Tax Preparation course (Unit 3) (“Prepare Tax Documentation for Individuals”). In summary, this was a good course, especially if you want something immediately available. I would recommend it for an overview of tax preparation. After reading the few negative reviews for AOC (courses not stated), and from some bad experiences with… Read more

other training courses, I wasn’t sure, but the course was online and the dates very flexible so I took a chance and booked anyway (also unhappy customers are more likely to leave reviews than happy customers are).

I’ve now finished the course. It took me about 2 months, but only because I had other commitments. A good half of that was spent on the assessments, which required about 16 pages of writing all up, and some internet research. I can’t really gauge the difficulty of the course because I had some background in tax already. I found it quite straightforward reading. I think it would be hard for a non-native-English speaker. It was marked very quickly and I have my digital certificate already, with the hard copy coming soon in the post. Unlike my previous courses, the tutor didn’t arbitrarily take off marks for unnecessary personal/subjective reasons, such as because they liked a different writing style. The tutors seemed professional and the marking fair.

Tutor assistance: I had a few questions and the tutors replied promptly (within 24 hours). They generally took the time to understand what I was asking, rather than fire off an automatic glib response. I got the impression that student help was taken seriously by my tutors.

Course material: I attended an ITP tax prep class several years ago, which took 2-3 months and was very detailed. This online course was very different. This AOC course was in depth and I found it informative and interesting, but unlike the ITP course it has no details of specific deductions, all the ins and outs of meal allowances, etc. Also not everything that it says is covered, is actually covered. It has a lot of generalised and background information, and the ATO viewpoint on various issues, but no information regarding this year’s changes to offsets, deductions, thresholds, Medicare etc. I was fine with that, and I feel the course gave me something that the ITP course didn’t, which was a useful, background, bigger picture understanding of the many aspects of tax preparation. It would have been a very good complement to the ITP course.

It does cover what you need to know, such as CGT, depreciation, PSI versus contractor, what makes a deduction allowable, GST and BAS statements, offsets etc, but for specific current details you would need to look elsewhere (which shouldn’t be difficult). There seemed to be a lot of overviews of business accounting, which seemed over the top for simple tax preparation, but will probably come in useful. You also need to read around the subject, but the ATO website is good for that. I googled anything I didn’t understand.

Some parts of the assessment were odd. For example the information on balance sheet credits and debits could do with a thorough revamp, or else not to be part of the assessment. Some parts seem to assume you are doing the course in a work environment, and perhaps this is who the course is aimed at. So for example I needed to write to the tutors and ask them to send a fillable tax return for one of the assessments, and it seems slightly unhelpful that this isn’t sent automatically. But this was a minor thing that didn’t hold me up at all, and otherwise I had really no criticism or complaints! It was a much better and more thorough course than I was expecting!

So in summary, the pros: Flexible, online, helpful tutors, good background for tax preparation, generally overall good value and a useful course. I learnt a lot I didn’t know before.

Cons: Nothing much really. Before being fully competent as a tax preparer, you would need to read up on this year’s thresholds and deductions, and you would need to read up on deductions in general, but that applies every year anyway, as the tax rules change every year!

Improve your English Grammar - won't recommend for a starter – To start with, the support of the course is very minimal.
