I have only taken my car to Automasters twice in 15 years. The first time was at Midland where I was quoted 3 times what I would regularly pay for the next service for my Kia Rio, the second was after purchasing a $200 "VIP" Voucher which claims to discount the cost of servicing to parts only. The second Automasters experience from a branch NOR … Read more
was worse than the first, and a timely reminder why I have avoided taking my car to them for so many years. After receiving an inflated quote for the service with all the "extra's" exceeding 3 thousand dollars on a different vehicle this time, which is a Hyundai I am not going to bother to use the rest of the voucher and I will return to my usual mechanic. The blatant and aggressive upselling will mean I will avoid Automasters in future - I have given two stars because the quality of the workmanship appears satisfactory and the car was ready on time, it's the misleading and aggressive sales tactics that have deterred me from this company for life.

I went to the Barossa auto masters for a full service and the next day after the full service I noticed one of my wheel cup is missing and I put a complain because there was a misunderstanding, however the next day they ordered new wheel cups for my car and fixed it for free, which is great and thank you team Barossa. Beware of Auto Masters Thuringowa & the VIP Club I recently took my car to Auto "Masters" Thuringowa for a routine logbook service, but what followed was incredibly frustrating. Immediate Issues: My car was running perfectly before the service. The moment I drove home, acceleration problems appeared. The next time I started it, two fault lights… Read more
came on—two unrelated failures at the exact same time!
Their "Diagnosis": Auto "Masters" denied any responsibility, claiming it was a coincidence and insisting two sensors had suddenly failed. They wanted to charge me nearly $1,000 for replacements! Their so-called "compromise"—waiving labour—was meaningless, as I had already paid for their VIP Club, which includes free labour anyway!
The Real Issue: Thankfully, I got a second opinion at Double D Automotive. In just 3 minutes, they found the real cause—a disconnected hose! (See photos). They reattached it, ran a check, and the fault lights disappeared instantly—no need for expensive sensor replacements.
Lost Trust: Even with "free" labour, I will never let Auto "Masters" touch my car again. After this experience, I can’t help but question whether the other "necessary" repairs they recommended were even genuine.
⚠️ Be Cautious: If you take your car here, think twice before trusting their diagnosis. Next time they send you a video claiming something is faulty, ask yourself—would you actually be able to tell from the video, or are you just taking their word for it?
Beware Auto Masters DO NOT give refunds for work not done – Out of desperation to find a local mechanic to do some extensive work in stages over a period of time (for affordability) I took my car to Auto Masters on 173 Commercial Road, Port Adelaide. It all started with the light's switch in need of replacement. I took it twice for that to be replaced and both times, Auto Masters had it for two… Read more
clear days, even though a specific appointment was made. The problem was then rectified. After that I kept taking my car back to them to have other things done to get the car up to roadworthy standard. Each time Auto Masters kept the car for two days. On one of my last visits, I had to have the A.B.S. unit replaced to stop the lights on the dash coming on. There was also the risk that if the car was involved in an accident, the Air Bags may have not deployed leaving me without a right to claim on my insurance for lack of maintenance. After two days of waiting I was told the issue had been fixed. I paid $440.00 for this job when I was originally quoted under $200.00. They also charged me $100.00 before this to isolate and locate the problem, This job went from just under $200.00 in the original quote to $540.00. This was justified with some sweet talking which I could not argue with. I started my car and drove around 5 metres when the lights for the A.B.S. came on again. I stopped the car in their driveway, went in and told them the issue was still there. They told me they would have to hunt down an A.B.S. unit and they would call me to take it back to fix it. After no communication for about 3 weeks, I found another mechanic who fixed the issue with a replacement past for $195 and it was completed within 30 minutes. I approached Auto Masters and told them the issues had been fixed and specifically asked for a refund on the money I paid up front for the job that was not done. I was told that Auto Masters DO NOT do refunds. I also highlighted to them that when I took my car in for a service the coolant was not topped up and was extremely low. I was asked if there were any leaks. My car had no leaks. After escalating my concerns to Auto Masters, head office, I was offered a $200.00 voucher for future work. Lets equate this in numerical terms.
Charged $100.00 to locate and isolate problem. $440.00 for job not done. NO REFUND for work not done. Total outlay $540.00 - $200.00 voucher Out of pocket $340.00 Paid another mechanic who fixed the problem $195.00 Total $735.00
If and when I use the voucher in the future Auto Masters has a win with the new charges that I'll be billed with after the voucher.
Needless to say, 'NOT HAPPY JAN.'
I don't think I would recommend Auto Masters to anyone if this is how they do business.
VIP discount cards are a hoax - overpriced and opaque billing – after purchasing a discount VIP pass that claimed I would save $220 for a logbook service Booked our Ford Focus into Tweed heads for a logbook service (and replacement of wheel speed sensors) No discount was applied when my wife picked the car up. I went back o back aand pointed out the error, was told I misunderstood the offer, the they… Read more
reluctantly gave half the discount. The logbook wasn't filled out I asked them to amend it, they didnt The total cost was over $150 more than the same service from the dealer (with the VIP AutoMaster "discount") also see attached invoice image Notice there is no labour amount itemised anywhere on the invoice They charged $190 to fit a $35 part, that takes just 7 minutes (check it on youtube) I contacted the head office of the Franchise to discuss the opaque promotional and billing practices, was told they would call back. They didn't The tweed branch mechanic said the owner was aware of my questions around the invoicing and would call. He didn't
The VIP card gives value to several hours free labour - yet AutoMasters do not give a breakdown of labour time??
Three months of problems because of a mistake – Three months ago Auto Masters Mandurah worked on my car. Amongst other things they charged $127 to change the fuel filter. When we resumed travelling, the car would lose power on long drives. We spent a lot of money trying to determine what the problem was, until we found a mechanic who spotted the problem immediately. The fuel lines had been… Read more
replaced incorrectly. This was the cause of the problem. Such a simple job to change a fuel filter and they couldn’t get it right. The pictures show how it was and how it should be.

Awful Experience! Took my car to Auto Masters in June for a service — they found the turbo pipe was broken and being held together by cable ties, then quoted me to repair it. I declined and went back to Volkswagen under warranty, who advised that… Read more
these pipes don’t just “break” — it was clear pressure had been applied. When I went back to Auto Masters, they claimed my car was already like that in December when I had my previous service done with them. They provided footage which only showed the engine partially covered — hiding the area in question. I paid over $1,000 for that December service (including $700 worth of “recommended repairs”) and yet somehow, they didn’t notice my engine was cable-tied together? Their own December service reports stated no issues with the engine. I would expect that a company that prides itself on “thorough” servicing and safety checks would have picked up something so serious. Consumer Protection has now advised that Auto Masters have taken no responsibility. Their only offer was to “fix it at cost” — which is completely unacceptable. I have since had the car fixed via the dealer direct and I will be escalating further.

Another great experience at Automasters Slacks Creek and it's why we drive our 5 family vehicles 40 minutes away to be looked after properly and honestly. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME ON YOU My young son took his car to Auto Masters Canning Vale on 04-02-2026 expecting honest advice and fair pricing. Instead, he walked away with a bill of over $2,400. Yes, a battery was included in the work, but the price charged for it — along with the overall invoice — was, in our view, completely unreasonable. As a… Read more
young driver with limited mechanical knowledge, he trusted the advice he was given. Unfortunately, that trust was not respected.
What made the situation even more concerning was that he was also told the car needed new tyres, even though those tyres had only travelled about 10,000 km. Our previous set of the same tyres lasted roughly 40,000 km, so that recommendation immediately raised serious questions.
After reading through many other reviews, it is hard not to notice similar concerns being raised repeatedly — high bills, unexpected recommendations, and customers leaving feeling they were pushed into work they did not truly understand or expect. Several reviews from women and younger customers describe very similar experiences, which is troubling.
Before the standard response appears saying “we can’t find the booking”, “this isn’t an authentic review”, or “there was a video explaining the work”, let me be clear:
• This was a real visit to Auto Masters Canning Vale • The date was 04-02-2026 • The invoice total was over $2,400 • One of the recommendations was for new tyres at only 10,000 km
The issue isn’t that work was done — the issue is pricing, transparency, and trust. When a young person takes their car in, they should receive honest guidance, not leave feeling like they have been talked into excessive costs.
I strongly suggest anyone — particularly young drivers, women, and families — get a second opinion before approving major work here.
In our view, this was not service — it was opportunistic selling dressed up as advice.
This experience left us feeling that a young customer was seen as an easy sale rather than someone who deserved honest advice.

Salesman going door to door selling discount vouchers for Automasters. I was willing to talk to him until he opened his folder and overtly showed me the personal details of other people in the street who had bought them. excused myself for a minute to go to the bathroom. I called my friend up the road whose name I saw on the sales guys folder. No surprise that he was told he was buying the last two vouchers and he was also annoyed that he was shown the details of our neighbours. Back at my front door, I politely farewelled my new friend and sat down to think about the line between salesmanship and lying a manipulation. I didn’t have to think long, as my friend had posted this guys antics on our Community Facebook page and the verdict was unanimous. It left a sour taste in everyone’s mouth and we won’t be eating what they’re serving. I liked Automasters until this point. Years of advertising “transparency” as a key part of their brand went out the window with our community. He looked like he had sold 30 or so vouchers, but lost at least 1,350 opportunities based on the “likes” on my friends Facebook post. I was going to write a short review sorry. But I didn’t have time.
Oh, and our location wasn’t in the list below. It was Hervey Bay.

level of detail they go into to explain the service being performed, issues they find, and the level of detail in the paperwork they hand you back. You can see from all of the information provided, including the video, that everything is legitimate and there is no "scam tactics" that one would usually have apprehension from dodgy mechanics. It's actually the first time ever in my whole life I have received a clear, detailed video from a mechanic explaining the issues they found. It really instils confidence in their work. They were also very honest in their billing and they refunded for an item they didn't end up using. The service was timely, the premises were spot clean and professional, the gentlemen at reception were super friendly and approachable with my questions, and they provide the paperwork in a nice little envelope so you don't lose anything. And further to all that, the car windows were cleaned and the car vacuumed. You have created a new loyal customer and I won't even think about going anywhere else. I will recommend Auto Masters to everyone I know for trusted, friendly, professional, and exceptional service. Thank you
