Bought this TV July 2022 - recently when turning on the TV the screen is blank but you can see it is back lit. No sound, nothing. Cannot turn off requires power to be disconnected to switch it on again. Intermittent issue - Has anyone else had this issue?

From about 28 June, 2022 I have not been able to get iView, 7plus, 9 Now, 10 Play or Freeview on our Bauhn TV in our main viewing room. Prior to that I have not had any problems accessing these services. I have no problem getting Netflix or Prime or YouTube. Advice please. Our internet connectivity is good and our older Samsung TV in another room has no problems

I am sorry,but I can not give you an answer,as I did not watch any of the stations that you mentioned,I only watced the News and ACA (that was the only free 2 air that i wathced),I mainly watched DVD's and old classics from you Tube,which I had no problems with.

I have the exact same problem as Carol T. I've tried a factory reset of the TV and this hasn't fixed the issue. The software for my TV is also up to date, and HBB TV is enabled. Apparently Freeview UK has made some changes to their service in recent days and I'm wondering if Freeview Australia have done the same thing too. Perhaps Bauhn is waiting on a software update from Freeview?

Kylie, I too did a factory reset and it did not work either. My Bauhn TV said the software was up to date so no problems there. Perhaps you are correct and that Bauhn need to do a software update to allow this model TV have the ability to support Freeview and the streaming services of all the Free to Air stations I mentioned in my initial statement. Let's hope someone from Bauhn/Tempo will answer our concerns.

Update for Kylie and Greg W I contacted Bauhn/Tempo on 1300 886 649 and discussed my TV problem. They have sent me an email stating that the software on that model TV is up to date and they do not know why I can't use those functions on the TV. They advised me to contact Install and Fix on 1300 373 993 and arrange for a local repairer to have a look at the TV as they believe it must be an internal problem. I am not happy with this as I do not understand how it could be when the internet/wifi connection is good, Netflix and Amazon etc all work and the TV is less than 2 years old. I will contact Install and Fix and at least ask their opinion. I don't feel like paying big money to get it repaired so there might be one Bauhn TV on the scrap heap. Love Aldi and their products, but this time feel let down and disappointed.

Update for Carol T and Greg W I contacted Freeview via their online support form and their response was: "We have checked the make and model of your TV and it is not Freeview certified. Please note that if you have been able to access Freeview previously, technical issues can arise in uncertified TV's when we roll out new updates. Our technical team is unable to help you with any technical issues, please contact your TV manufacturer for further assistance."

I then contacted Tempo customer support and they emailed me to say there's no software update available. I contacted them again and they're now sending out a new remote control as they think the red and green buttons may not be working. I'll report back once the new remote control arrives, but I strongly suspect this won't fix the problem - from the sounds of things, Freeview have recently rolled out a new update and have suddenly decided that Baunh TVs aren't eligible for the required software updates.

Am really unhappy about this whole situation, especially since our TV is only 6 months old and now no longer has the functionality for which it was purchased.

Another update for Carol T and Greg W The new remote has arrived and unsurprisingly the problem still remains. I immediately contacted Tempo customer support and after being put on hold for a long time, they informed me that Freeview no longer provides support for Bauhn TVs. They said from now on, the only way to access Freeview on a Bauhn TV is to use a screencasting device such as a Google Chromecast.

Having had a 'dumb' TV prior to this purchase, part of the appeal of this Bauhn TV was being able to get rid of our Chromecast and just use the TV remote to access catch-up TV, Netflix and free-to-air channels at the press of a button. I can imagine a lot of other consumers will be very annoyed at the prospect of having to pay for another device in order to access content which was freely and readily available on Bauhn TVs prior to July.

Update for Kylie and Greg W. Thank you Kylie for the update. Thought that might be the problem and am very annoyed and unhappy about this TV not having access to this content. Did not expect a 2020/21 TV to be so inept as I too bought it thinking it would suit all those streaming services that are free to air. Very disappointed in Bauhn and Aldi and I am usually a champion of all things sold by Aldi.

Cant get Youtube or Prime video to work on my 55" Bauhn TV. Says "internet connectivity issue" but Netflix works fine though. Home internet and wifi working fine and tv unit says internet is connected in Settings menu whether trying wireless and wired connections. Prime and YouTube work on other devices using same wifi. Any ideas??

I owe a sincere apology. I got email from Product Review asking ME a question about a Bauhn TV entirely different to my Bauhn TV. I thought this question was from the individual person to me, and I thought how dumb. I did not realise that the question was directed to me because of the Product Review system and not by the individual. This has happened a few times and, thinking that the individuals must be really dumb, this time I got a bit caustic. But only now, I understand. Sincere sorry. (However, I will stand by my statement that there are more important things to do with life than watch TV.)

If it's cutting out after a period of time and all of the remotes / devices are not being touched then it could be a fault in the electronics eg get's warm - then faults. Check the warranty period, and when you brought it, If it's still in warranty then contact Aldi (Bauhn aren't sold anywhere else) and arrange to return it for repair / refund if they can't repair or don't have a replacement that you agree to.

I bought a Bauhn (Aldi) 4K Ultra HD ATV55UHDS-0519 (55", May 2019) the end of May. Have it for only 5 months. When I moved the TV, the antenna connection at the back of the TV broke off and stuck to the antenna cable. I went through the process to contact Tempo, but because it is not a manufacturing fault it is not covered by the warrenty. How do I fix it if the main board for this specific model does not exist? I googled for the product part.

Does the TV still work? If you've damaged the main board you may be in trouble as a damaged motherboard probably isn't repairable... and buying a new one probably isn't worth it. If you can find a local TV repair shop they might be able to fix it?

Depends whether the connector is soldered directly to the board or connected via a cable?

Yes we can still watch YouTube etc. Tempo (after sales service) referred us to a technician. I am not sure whether the connector is soldered directly to the board??? I contacted the technician he told me he will have to replace the main board. Meanwhile he will look for a main board. It will cost me approximately $145 for call out and labour, plus $150 or more for the main board part to fix it. He can only give me a final quote once he has found a main board otherwise I have the option to buy a set top box which he suggested will be a much cheaper solution than to fix it. To pay $599 for the TV and $300 plus for a fix, is hard to swallow.

If the TV still works then the board can't be damaged... so not quite sure why the technician is quoting to change it? If the connector is stuck to the antenna cable then you should be able to unplug it and get it re-attached (probably some soldering involved)?

I assume that the technician hasn't actually come out to look at it yet? So he's just guessing.

If you can find a local TV repair shop you would probably do better to cart the TV down there? If it's just a connector anyone can do that? Call outs are expensive and you're probably a long way from the technician?

He's right though... a set top box is a simple way to fix the problem. Just make sure the box has a TV tuner in it?

Firmware update is unlikely to fix the problem. Sounds like it might be your power supply? Or caused by power supply fluctuations? Putting some filters on the mains will help reduce electrical faults. This goes double if you live in an area with a lot of power fluctuations.

When plugging in VHS/DVD combo player using HDMI cable plugged into TV HDMI port there is visual but no audio....Why? When plugging same player to any other TVs in the house everything works. It would appear to be appear a problem with the Sound settings on the TV. Does anyone have a solution

Might be due to power fluctuations. If the TV hasn't already been damaged by the fluctuations putting a power filter or UPS on the line might help? Power filters stop the electronics from being damaged... so it's always a good idea to add some.

Smart TV's is a term that covers a large variety of extra software... but you'll always find something that isn't supported even on the top end TV's. The only way to avoid frustration is to buy a stand alone Set Top Box that runs the utilities you want? They're not expensive... and you can afford to update them every few years if you need to?

BTW: The #1 cause of warranty claims on TV's is the "smart" part.

For those reasons it's often better to buy a dumb TV and add the smart bits later?

How do I install a browser in this? Even though there aren't more apps, having a web browser is helpful. Also is there a way we can install Android Smart TV OS onto this? Has anyone tried it?

Most smart TV's don't allow a lot of customisation e.g. Installing new apps The smarts in a smart TV usually aren't all that smart. If you want extra features try adding a Set Top Box with the necessary smarts? That's the cheapest and simplest solution.

I’m not a tech wizard but there could be variety of reasons. If your tv is connected to other external devices such as DVD or sound system, sometimes there could be time lag between the picture and the sound. Try ‘setting’ and see if there is something like ‘time delay option’ in ‘sound’. If that fails then connect your tv independently and see if it’s synchronised. It also could be the broadcast itself. I haven’t had this problem. My tv 50” and have different options. Sorry I may not be much help to you!
