DON’T USE BEAM SCOOTERS!! They charged me the hourly rate ($40 for 1 hour) instead of the daily rate ($18). We returned the scooter so quickly because they rent these scooters in an area where you can’t ride them! We are tourist and obviously didn’t know that these scooters are restricted in the area and shouldn’t be rented here. Additionally you can only rent one scooter per credit card which is very inconvenient when your with kids.

Terrible experience in Darwin. Id give beam 0 stars but theres no option for that. Started a group ride for 4 people. Less than 5mins into the ride one of the scooters stopped working. Contacted the digital assistance and only option was to cancel the ride for all 4. They asked for photos of the parked rides and then wouldnt exit the ride as they… Read more

said it wasnt parked properly(photo attached). Bit hard to get a scooter to an approved parking area when it doesnt work. Was charged $42 for the experience not to mention the dissappointment of the family. Thought we were going to have a fun adventure around Darwin. Avoid beam and use uber as uber is reliable and much cheaper to get around.

The product is actually good but it is practicing false advertising. When you get on the bike it offers "Unlimited rides for a week for $9.95 in Darwin." However, UNLIMITED is 100 minutes over a one week period. Less than 2 hours over 7 days. Additionally you cannot access rates on the web, you can only do it on the App. I note that this is… Read more

under cars when it should be under electric scooters, and this makes it more difficult to report on this company.

4 friends and I went riding in Forster/Tuncurry NSW and were riding until one of my friends and I had to stop and rescan our scooters, as his had ran out of battery. So I stopped my ride, that had only lasted 15 seconds and took a photo like normal of my scooter on the side of the sidewalk. I then received a notification from my bank that $75 was… Read more

taken from my account without my knowledge. I RECEIVED A PARKING FINE. I had no idea that I was getting money taken from my account or I would have moved the scooter. Why do they not give you a warning that that is going to occur??????? So I tried to resolve it with customer care (Nicholas) and I thought it was all said and done, as I was going to receive a refund. BUT this morning I received the refund and it was TAKEN FROM MY ACCOUNT IMMEDIATELY AFTER.

I WILL NOT BE USING THIS SYSTEM AGAIN AS THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING

Customer service is very poor – I bought a 90min pass which last for 24hrs. I used it for 5min just after midday. Then 5 more min after 13:00 when things started going wrong. 1- Scooter was not logging in, then after 3 min logged in (lucky I was still trying one of the scooters next it as a passer by noticed it was active and was about to take off with it). 2- Helmet did not… Read more

unlock

3- When I went to return it, it kept on saying that it was unable to leave it there as it was a no parking zone, although 7 more scooters were there.

4- Following day at 6:30 I tried to get another scooters and despite me trying on 6 scooters all scattered across the water front in manly it gave the message that “ the scooter is parked outside the ridding zone, a technician will collect shortly “

5- When I reported the malfunction, I was told “that’s ok, we have notified our team”

No explanation or anything.

It’s very frustrating, I paid for 24hr access or 90 min, none of which took place. Feeling ripped off.

Cannot believe how bad this service is. First time use of Beam scooters and it kept losing power and stopping on me. It was so intermittent that i gave up and ended my journey. I reported this a week ago but have heard nothing from the support team. Second time use yesterday. Two scooters would not operate at all. I did not go further than 10… Read more

metres, just trying to make them go. Returned the vehicles to their parking spot and gave up in disgust. This company had the cheek to charge me $5 (each) for the pleasure of using their DUD app, and DUD scooters for a trip i could not make. I reported this on the app, of course i have heard nothing from this company. I want a full refund, but will probably never see one cent. I will be making a formal complaint to our city council about the standard of service from this company, and will recommend they rid our fair city of these useless devices.

I wished I’d read the reviews. Absolutely ridiculously expensive, no range, had to take it to a designated parking place 500m back up the road. $40 is outrageous. I’ll stick to Ubers.

TOTAL RIPOFF !!! I was charged a $18 parking penalty for parking safely and off footpath next to restaurant in Cairns recently for less than 1 hour ! Blatant policy to increase revenue by stealing from customers ! Expensive hire charges ! DO NOT USE BEAM !!!

UPDATE: They did refund me the subscription money. This was the worst experience. DON'T use Beam e-bike/e-scooter rental. I took two rides on a bike in Hobart and I have been charged repeatedly, well after I have left Australia from holiday. I deleted the subscription that I wasn't aware about which wasn't easy because they make it close to… Read more

impossible to find on the app where to cancel. Even after cancelling this subscription and deleting my account, I am still getting charges on my credit card. I will never use Beam again and I wish I had walked instead of renting the Beam e-bike. I have spent far too much time trying to stop the charges...... I am waiting to hear back from Customer Service.

Terrible experience compared to LIME: very limited parking, so many route restrictions and access to sights of interest, and an $18 fine for temporary parking safely outside a restaurant

Will let me ride so far into no go zones but not let me leave the scooter, which means I have ride all the way back and walk. DO NOT USE. Can we please bring back neuron scooters, this company is the actual worst.

$10 .44 are you serious!!. I couldn't get it to start so I pushed it 30m and gave up. I tried to go end of ride but it wouldn't because it wanted me to fasten the helmet WHICH DIDN'T EXIST!!!.. So, I've been charged over $10 for the luxury of pushing your POS scooter 30m and not actually riding anywhere. I rate this experience at SCREW YOU BEAM!

DO NOT USE DO NOT USE It's a scam they take ur money won't refund and you can not even use the scooter. How can business with such a low google review be alloud to use. I will be reporting to the government transport. Take a few dollars from each person most would not even bother chasing up. Its not about money it's principal. THE SCOOTERS DO NOT WORK ONCE THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY.

My partner and I took 2 of these scooters out around Kings Park in Perth this weekend. was about a ~40 min ride. ended up costing $51, we weren’t expecting it to be that much whatsoever and had to put them into a parking zone far away from our car. Today it actually took out a second payment, charged him twice! $102 gone. Plus it doesn’t tell u… Read more

Once bitten twice shy – Very expensive afternoon, took grandson for an outing to have a ride on a beam scooter approx half were vandalised or had missing helmets App seemed dodgy (not able to close app)while costing you money, and other scooters you were unable to tell if they were going to work until you open the App and then find out the scooter is faulty and has cost you money to find out.Not a great experience.

Not keen to waste money again – Went to take grandson for a ride on a beam scooter in bendigo Victoria, app didn't work properly and when we eventually got it working almost half the scooters we tried to hire were vandalised or helmets missing or not sure they were working without having to pay money first .

Over priced, restrictive zones and inconvenient parking – Crap service in Cairns. Very restrictive riding zones, very high 65c per minute fee, and hard to find approved parking zone. Crazy $18 fee to park at place of your convenience in central CBD. No thanks.

Disappointed – One scooter had a broken break cable and low battery, it took a couple of minutes to realise after trying to swap and go through the process again price was racking up. I was waiting for my friend to swap this scooter and it cost over $5 waiting before I had even moved anywhere, except to lower the stand and cross the road. We decided now with… Read more

Horrible – Could not get 2 scooters working on Group booking. Never got any life out of either. Cost $15 (which they did promptly refund ... so appreciate that). VERY UPSET AND FRUSTRATED. The scooter talking is nowhere near verbose enough. I think if you don't get the scooter up to a minimum speed (which is not published) when you push Go button it doesn't… Read more

matter how fast you push it you will never turn motor on - you have to let go of Go push faster then press Go - HORRIBLE design and not like Neutron where you push Go and motor turns on as soon as manual pushing reaches low threshold which is MUCH friendlier.

Human help is NOT. Spoke to someone in Heidelberg Melbourne who's total scope of help is "read the help in app". Utterly useless. They wanted to take my name and contact details with no indication what they would do with them. I hung up. At various times the scooter beeped. What the !@#$%^ is a beep trying to communicate? For a device which can obviously talk why would you design it to do useless unmeaningful beep? Becacuse you hate your customers. The scooted whinged about Bluetooth. It gave no clear idea what the dependency is on BT. If my phone is paired with my earphones is that a show stopper. I never had problems with Neutron and BT. If you move a Beam without booking it the scooter talks "detected movement". If you do the same thing with Neutron it threatens that it is calling authorities (clearly [Content Removed].) Also, the Beam map doesn't even show Kogarah train station ... pathetic!!

Unfair Charges – Beam should not start the 'clock' and start charging until the scooter is in motion. I hadnt even hopped on the bike. Was still trying to tie the helmet and organize my things but was still being charged. Charges not justified. Beam needs to look at this.

Avoid Beam Scooters in Hobart – Our experience in Hobart was horrible and the charges are outrageous. In the first instance could not even find a scooter with more than 50% charge in the cbd area. Took a couple that were 35% charged which indicated that we should get 16km out of them. As we only needed 5km we thought should be ok. Ha! One scooter simply stopped working about… Read more

1.4km in with no warning and no information to say why. Tried to unlock using the app, just gave me an error message. Meanwhile of course you are still getting charged by the minute while trying to resolve the problem as we had a group booking going. Others in our group experienced similar outcomes with their scooters just dying for no reason. Eventually we were able to get them going again by having to end the booking, close the app and restart. This of course comes with another charge for activating your scooter. Steer clear. Close to $80 to take 2 scooters 5km!

never again will i use these types of scooters – Queenstown NZ Horrible experience , you couldn't go faster than 20km (even when no people around) the prices are UNBELIEVABLY overpriced, costed $200 for my whanau of 5 for 30 minutes. Took ages to start up, and then we couldn't part anywhere as it costed $18 to park anywhere but very few parking spots in the city, whilst we lived out of the city. NEVER again will I use these ever. Too Expensive – Their existence makes no sense at all. Just too expensive. Better take an Uber - who needs them? Not using them while they blocked the pedestrian road, so double of the uselessness.
