The buying experience was good. The logistics / delivery was a total mess. Minimal communication from the store. We bought two mattresses and arranged to have them delivered to an apartment that were are staging for Airbnb. We were told it would be two weeks, which went by with no communication. weeks after the order) then that was cancelled and we were given a new date. Then on the morning of that date we were informed only one the mattresses would be delivered, and the other one two days later. They could not commit to a time for the second delivery. We are working people and do not live at the apartment, so my wife had to commit to not working and spending an entire day waiting for this delivery. In the meantime we could not open the apartment for let, costing us thousands of dollars in lost revenue.

The person in the store when we were following up was unhelpful and unapologetic. Said it was out of her hands.

Dishonest - has stolen $3000, having never delivered goods – Be very careful of this company. A lady called Sam took $3000 over the phone for a bed which the company did not deliver. called me and said that he didn’t like the way he’d been spoken to by a female friend who tried phoning and asking for an invoice and information about the time of delivery, so he was reporting the credit card transaction as fraud and would not be delivering the bed. This store is dishonest and to date have stolen $3000. Head office were contacted but over a week has passed and the regional manager has still not been in contact - worst company I have ever dealt with. Incredibly dishonest.

Stay Away from Bedshed Hawthorn – Sam from bedshed promised a bed for my daughter in weeks it came in a month. Not only that, she said that the bed (which has a table attached on its side) could reconfigured to either to have the table the left of the bed or the right of the bed. Worst Service – Worst service. They promise a time frame (double it) but once they receive your money they won't help with anything. Received mattress but not bed base until much later. Paid for duvet but did not receive and they advised me to buy one somewhere else. When asking a credit for undelivered duvet, she hung up on me. Extremely rude and unhelpful. Show details

Excellent service from Bedshed Hawthorn – Overall I was happy. Chris was very knowledgeable and it was a relaxed buying experience. The shop had a good Tempur range. The delivery crew Roy and Jeremin were so helpful and did a great job.

buying 2 x Tempur mattresses as well - as I was so impressed with her service and the deal she was able to put together for me. Very happy with the in store sales service from Janine and now awaiting delivery which has been advised to be 2 weeks.

Fantastic product – During a return visit, mentioned my crook back/legs from sitting all day. Bought the tempur seat cushion. Best thing ever.

Shocking, Poor after sales service – We bought a double panel lift bed, assured at point of sale, easy to put together. Wow! Fantastic service – This shop is a little hidden treasure. Janine, the salesperson that assisted me was fantastic. She knows what she is talking about. I bought a beautiful queen mattress and base. I had the best sleep ever. The 2 guys that delivered the bed were awesome. They were very friendly and called me by my name. I was very very impressed. Disappointed that delivery was delayed and communication about the delayed delivery has been poor – I appreciate the stores don't control everything, nonetheless there's poor communication between the warehouse and the stores, so the stores aren't informed if a delivery is going to be delayed or rescheduled. Saturday. It didn't, no follow up from the store on Sunday. I called on Monday, the store had to call around to find out what had happened. I was called back about 11 am and informed the delivery will occur on Wednesday. Hopefully this is the case.

Outstanding service, great quality – Great one to one service and expert advice to find the right bed for what I was after. Outstanding quality and product delivery. Highly recommend if in the market for mattress or frame.

were warned it could take some time to put together but it was super easy (maybe 1 hour or so) and all the parts fit together well!

notice this as we assumed that all the boxes where there and hadn’t moved in to the house yet) when we tried to receive the rest of the bed they said we were lying about the missing parts and that they wouldn’t deal with us. The last of the three beds that we payed for arrived weeks after the confirmed delivery date. Overall super disappointed and may have to settle this at VCAT.

Beware of mattress return guarantee – We purchased a Boxed mattress by Dreamsense from the Bedshed store in Hawthorn, Vic. The shop was keen to sell us the fact that it came with a 60 day 'comfort guarantee'. We were wary as this was the first time we were buying a memory foam mattress, but were assured that with the 60 day guarantee we could return / exchange if we were not… Read more

But what the store did not tell us was that if we did not purchase a mattress protector at the same time (on the same receipt) the guarantee was invalid! We bought a mattress protector separately before we used it.

It turned out the mattress is too soft for my bad back, bedshed refused to refund or exchange, and now we are stuck with an expensive mattress we cannot use. Be careful with Bedshed.

On time yeah! – We bought a bed, they said delivery between 9.30-11, on time, the best two tradesman ever, it was 38 deg day and they were boiling, delivered bed no hassle, courteous with the dogs, shooed them in, before leaving, my thanks, Jayne Rankin

Be very careful: no refunds for change of mind when you purchase in store – I purchased the Insignia Luxuria bed in store at Bedshed, today (it's still available - not discontinued it suggests on the other product review page). sales assistant who owned Insignia, they advised it was part of one of the big 5 brands - which i didn't really understand, but I didn't mind as the bed was super comfortable and I thought there was the 60 night comfort guarantee as advertised on the website for change of mind if the bed isn't what you had wanted.

When i returned home, I did some extra research online and discovered very few reviews (8 reviews, a warning sign when most major brands had hundreds or 1000+) and only bad reviews online (I searched most of major review sites - Choice, Canstar etc). I also discovered that Insignia is kind of like the Bedshed home brand, a "white labeled" product sold only through Bedshed. After looking at other reviews for other brands (particularly all the 'disruptors' of the bedding industry like Koala and Sleeping Duck) - the pricing was very competitive and their returns and delivery terms were amazing,

I decided I had made the wrong decision and called to arrange a refund. The store advised me firstly that there is a no refund policy for change of mind. Secondly, that they had never had any problems, and if the bed sags, it will be covered by the 10 year warranty - 100% (despite reviews online suggesting lots of issues trying to claim under warranty). And thirdly that instead of 1 week lead time, it would be two week for my item to be delivered (this happens, I didn't really mind about this - but it wouldn't happen with Koala or Sleeping Duck!).

If you're considering buying a bed from a Bedshed store: I would strongly recommend that you do a LOT of research ahead of your purchase, given the unfavourable change of mind refund policy, even a few hours later (aka there isn't one!).

If you're from Bedshed HQ: I would recommend that they take another look at their returns policies, to ensure they are competitive (both at a head office and franchise level). As if they're not competitive, and you're not willing to update them - Bedshed may begin (or continue?) to lose marketshare from the new disruptors (Koala, Sleeping Duck etc). It would be a shame to see the demise of more Australian retailers.

I hope that when the bed arrives, it's amazing, lasts 10+ years and that none of this matters!
