Only way it will turn off is by totally turning whole house power at fuse box off, have tried isolation power switch to unit and independent fuse to unit but fan stays on . Can this be reset Bonaire service are coming on Monday don’t want to have no heater for whole weekend. Any suggestions please

HI - my 2 year old MB4-20E has stopped working recently after a local power surge. I have tried resetting the navigator but it appears that it is not recognising the heater. Is there a reset button within the heater unit itself? When I turn on power to the heating unit the fan runs for 2 or 3 seconds but then there is no further response. Do you have any suggestions how I might get it working again? Is it likely the control unit circuit has been damaged by the power surge?

BTW - I've been very happy with this unit. I don't find it any more noisy than the unit it replaced and the thermo control works very effectively.

Cheers

David

Try turning the heater off at the power source for 30 seconds and turn it on again see if that works but if the damage was done because of the surge the power company should be responsible for the damage

Do all the Unit make that High Pitch noise when it starts and stops? If Bonaire reads this, Please provide your customers with options to silence your units otherwise you will be losing more over time....... I have to agree with John Carters review. This unit has a high pitch noise when it starts and stops. Its the inducer motor that turns on first and turn off last. You can hear it everywhere in my house and my neighbor can hear it early in the morning when it turns on. Very annoying. I had Bonaire Technicians come over and they said that thats how the unit is and there is NO options to fix it. Very disappointing. You would think they would have options for their customers. but I will not by a Bonaire again. The unit cant be started on Economy mode which is surprising and unit turns on after it drops 2 degrees from its set temperature which makes it uncomfortable. We should have the option to set it at what we want.

Hi Eric yes it's noisy i can hear it inside the house but the noise is the least of your problems with this heater because we had so many different things go wrong with it i believe the control is the problem too because mine does the same thing, yesterday i turned the heater on i had to set it to 25 degrees before it turned on although Bonaire recommends 19 or 20 degrees anything over this and the gas bill is so high the technician is coming again Monday to hard wire the control rather than wireless hope this will stop my heater switching off on it's own 3 winters we had nothing but trouble with it Good Luck.

Yes I know. I had the 6 star rated one which had sooooooooooo many issues they took it off the market. You w ould think Bonaire w ould listen to its customers. I am happy to pay extra for quality and service but Bonaire doesnt provide the options :-( Hope they fix your unit this time around.

I am looking to compare the Bonair MB4 with the Braemar Ecostar 4 star.Natural Gas Ducted system. Economy, quietness & value. Thanks Bill A

Hi, my ancient brivis buffalo ducted heater has just broken and I've been recommended a bonaire mb420 by the installer, I'm wondering if you still feel negatively about your bonaire mb4 heaters. Mine would be an external unit. Many thanks, Mattie

From my perspective only, this machine has been a disaster - I have had Bonaire out at least twice a year to replace most of the electronics several times over, I have had to use threats to complain to the ACCC to get them to waive the replacement costs, and based upon this experience, I would NEVER buy this machine again. Luckily they did repair for $0 each time, but the repair costs would have been significant, had I not fought them! I must have bought the lemon machine, but I'm thankful that Australia now has lemon protection laws!

Thanks iLazarus, I was hoping you were happier with your bonaire now. The installer says braemar and bonaire use all the same components and he wouldn't touch brivis. I can't see any good options ...
