The Good, the Bad and the Ugly... It works, for a while – Bought this just over 2 years ago from E&S trading and it worked well for the first 18 months. The drying fuctions could be explained better in the manual and most of the issues people have with clothes not drying (AT THE START) is mostly user error rather than the appliance itself. It has a lot of settings and each of those can be tweaked to… Read more
control the drying level etc. While it works, it works well. It dries very well and it isn't overly loud. And the best thing is the fact that it doesn't turn your laundry into a sauna like the usual vented dryers. However, and this is a big issue. It does NOT last. For Bosch made in Germany product, there is a massive flaw in it. As noted by quite a few people here, it WILL fail. It isn't a matter of if, it's a matter of when. And it usually does it about 12-24 months down the line. The issues is that the dryer starts stopping all the time saying the condensation container is full when it isn't. Initally it was intermittent and only happened after about 30-60 minutes. As times went on, and now at 25 months for us, it is essentially unusable because it stops every 5 - 10 minutes complaining about a full condensation container. We have cleaning all we can and it it still doing it. I suspect the self cleaning function eventully blocks the system with lint and then the return water tubing gets blocked also. I can't see a water level sensor where the condensation container is situated so it's probably a pressure related issues. This issue started at the 18 months mark for us and just got worse. SO two years down the line we have a $1400 dryer that doesn't work. UNLESS you disconnect the internal condensation drain and use the external drain tubing. Might work for some but not for everyon and it still doesn't explain the number of failures noted here at roughly the same time frame. Bosch obviously has a design issue with this. I have emailed them on the email noted below and they have not responded as yet which is really pathetic. I have tried calling but the number rang out or was on hold for 45 minutes and gave up. My suggestion is AVOID this thing like the plague unless you can externally drain the condensation or you are happy to spend a lot of $$$ on repairs in about a year or two. Sadly, I had a lot of confidence in Bosch prior to this purchase and most of the other Bosch appliances we have are flawless.
Once I worked out how to use this dryer it was very efficient. It was 9 years old and had been used for only 871 hours - it was in a weekender. The Bosch service person didn't repair it after the first visit and on the return visit, said it was the condenser and not worth repairing. These visits cost $374. I would not recommend a Bosch dryer.

The Bosch serie 8 heat pump dryer is an absolute POS, horrible design makes it almost impossible to clean yourself and it fails after only a couple of years, to clean the condenser of the inevitable blockage you must take literally the entire machine apart and put it all back together again. However even after I completed this arduous and… Read more
rediculous process the machine still doesn’t dry clothes, pump works, moisture sensor cleaned, still nothing. Service technicians want hundreds if not thousands of dollars to diagnose and possibly fix and Bosch are renowned for not giving a damn about our problems. It’s the single worst appliance on the market even to this day with hundreds of dissatisfied customers, avoid at all costs!

Bosch 9kg Heat Pump Tumble Dryer expensive mistake? – I like Bosch for reliability and quality. I use this dryer 2-3 times a day, 4 days a week to dry towels in a massage business. It comfortably fits 6 bath sheets and numerous hand towels. Unfortunately a couple of months into owning the dryer it just wouldn’t dry, sometimes taking 5hrs and still towels were quite damp and needed hanging up to air… Read more · 1
dry. I tried different settings and nothing improved. I cleaned the filters after each load, cleaned the moisture sensor and that didn’t help. I then started washing the filters with liquid soap and water and leaving them out to dry at the end of the day, and since then a big load of washing is nice and dry in about 2hrs. I’ve owned the dryer for 7yrs and it is still looking good and working well. This dryer is excellent, massive 9kg capacity, easy to use controls, large opening into the dryer, very cool venting of the condenser dryer air. A bit expensive but well worth the money.
Worst appliance ever – Bosch should have recalled this model. It has well-known, major design flaws. The sensors are not sensitive enough and although it’s supposed to have a self-cleaning condenser, over time, this clogs up with lint. I have to restart the dryer multiple times (washing filters each time) because it turns off while the laundry is still very damp. It… Read more
now takes 7-8 hours to dry towels. It cannot be cleaned without taking the whole dryer apart. The drum rotates in one direction only, so bed linen always comes out in a damp ball. The Bosch services centre person sounded condescending and smug as she told me this was almost always due to customer failure to clean the dryer correctly. Yet, a retailer told me later models addressed the design flaws. Bosch, this was a rip off. I will not be buying your appliances again.
Broke within 2 years now waiting for parts and service – Update: After being told it was the filter, the technician has come out again and assessed the machine. He now says the condenser is the issue and needs replacement. A common issue. The pump and the filter are not the issue. The condenser used to be serviceable and is now self-cleaning. Sydney appliance services finally attended on 16/7/2022 to… Read more
replace the pump. He said all fixed. Go to use it on Saturday and issue not fixed and clothes are as wet as they went in. Contacted the good guys concierge stating it has not been fixed. The 4 weeks to repair are now up. Told that they have to raise a new claim as old claim closed even though not repaired. Sent to domestic and general to sit waiting on hold for ages to be told sorry it was fixed and denied the replacement guarantee and that 4 weeks starts again. Then sent through to Sydney Appliance Services to get the techician that failed to fix it cancelled 2 times to come out and diagnose the issue. He has failed 2 x already, ordered wrong part, installed what he thought was the right part only for the issue to still occur.
Not happy.
Another appliance bites the dust and have to sit waiting and waiting for parts to fix it. It does not dry clothes. It will spin all day only for the clothes to remain as wet as when they went in. 2 times now have had service technician cancel and now have a dryer sitting in the middle of my kitchen waiting for them to figure out what is wrong with it.

RECALLED. We thought initially it was the best dryer we had ever owned but after around 2 years of service - the so-called self cleaning function did not work, leaving us with a permanently musty/mildewy smell that originates from excess water left to combine with lint at the bottom of this machine.
Yes - we had it plumbed in. Yes we cleaned the lint filters EVERY SINGLE TIME. Yes we washed and dried all filters regularly. We even emptied any amounts of water that may have collected in drawer, every single time.
After an email exchange with Bosch, were I stated I didn't need a service guy, I just wanted a replacement model where you could actually clean the bottom of the machine where excess water sits without pulling completely apart - I could only get them to send a service guy who basically told us, that yes you will have to periodically pull whole machine apart and drain and clean the water out that's left....!!!!!!! And then we had to pay him for this! He left us draining and trying to clean out smelly black water and muck - good times. He obviously didn't want to admit it was a design flaw (Bosch have since updated this model with one you can easily clean). So we then switched to having the water filling the drawer and emptied and cleaned EVERY SINGLE TIME - still getting the clothes coming out musty. You can't even clean the drawer properly as all parts are fixed making it impossible to get mould out of crevices etc.
So not happy. Our washing machine that we purchased at the same time (also Bosch) is great - but I have never spent this much on a dryer only to dread having to dry our clothes.
Please Bosch get in touch with me and resolve this once and for all. You know that this model is faulty, yet you have failed as a trusted company to look after your customers. Harvey Norman should also be accountable as the seller of these faulty machines. I didn't expect to have to become a service technician pulling my dryer apart every time I want clean and NICE SMELLING DRY CLOTHES.
I actually was so excited to have this dryer, it was initially quiet, dried all types of clothes beautifully and I got used to the clothes being 'cool' instead of warm but the smell is simply unbearable. I am one very, very unhappy consumer.
UPDATE: this review was held back as Bosch is supposed to review first…not a word from them. I’m not surprised just disappointed. Hard to trust so-called reputable manufacturing companies anymore. Why supply a product if you don’t back up with service excellence? Shame on you.
Follow-up · Latest update…BOSCH have not contacted me about my issue with their product AT ALL. I have simply stopped using it as the smell is too bad. Not the high quality you are paying for – Like many others, the door latch broke shortly out of warranty. Bosch don't sell the latch by itself. They make you buy an entire new door. I hace to say, this is not worth the extra $ you spend for the "quality".
When I compare it to our Miele appliances, it isn't the same. We have had our Miele washing machine for ~10 years without a single issue.
It's a shame.
Worked well for a few years but now its five years old its failing. Got a service call and apparently the compressor has a leak and is not a viable repair. For the price I really expected this product to last more than five years so would not recommend this product. Shame as we used to always buy bosch appliances but will rethink that. Show details
This is the worst pile of junk I have ever purchased. Literally.
Terrible Design - do not buy – Do not buy. This dryer has a terrible design that causes the condenser to block with lint that cannot be cleared by the user. Instead, the Dryer must be sent to a service centre to be completely disassembled so the condenser (which is buried deep inside) can be cleared of lint. Most other brands of Heat Pump Dryer have a user-accessible condenser… Read more
that can easily be cleared of lint via a handy flap on the front. Furthermore, most other brands have an additional filter immediately before the condenser that prevents most lint getting to the condenser. This Bosch Dryer does not have any such filter, which allows the build-up of lint much quicker. The result of the build-up of lint on the condenser is that the drying cycle progressively takes longer and longer to dry items (up to 5 or 6 hours for a load of towels - normal trying time would be less than half that). This dryer also doesn't have a reversing tumble action. This causes sheets to roll themselves into a tight ball as they only ever tumble one way. Most other brands of Heat Pump dryer have a reversing tumble action for the sheets program. I would not recommend this dryer to anyone - as a 'premium' brand, this is very disappointing from Bosch.
Fails to properly dry clothes and takes a very long time 4-5 hrs – Series 8 looks great. We bought a matching washing machine and dryer. The heat pump method just does not work to a satisfactory level on this unit. Takes a very long time and never dry enough to put closes directly into a cupboard. My wife has had enough so even though technically this model is not broken. It just does not do its job. Avoid this model. Show details

Biggest disappointment – Bought this dryer in 2017. It was great but then in 2019 the heat pump died. Large call out fee to replace and just out of warranty. Worked again for a while but now barely gets hot enough to dry again. Seems like it’s a second heat pump failure. All of our other Bosch appliances have been great and continue to be great. that what should be a premium brand and costs a premium price should be so flawed. I read online now that this appears to be a common fault - without any user cleanable or repairable parts looks to be flawed in parts and design. Very disappointing. 6 years old and no longer viable – We purchased this model in 2018. We firstly had a regular appliance technician complete a service to clean the machine ($270) and then when that didn't work, we went… Read more
directly to Bosch to get a technician ($170).
After his visit, he confirmed that the condenser needed cleaning but as it's not accessible, would need to go to a service agent which I understand will be over $600 so they can collect it, take it away, strip machine so they can access condenser and remove lint.
Similar to other owners, we are pedantic with removing lint after every load but this is an area that is unreachable but us and indeed Bosch technicians.
It just seems non cost effective to go ahead with this $600 cleanse when it's only going to happen again (and after already spending $430 on technicians).
I approached Bosch Customer Service to see if we could at least get a discount on another model. But the answer was an unequivocal 'no' as the machine 'can be repaired'. Even though it really seems to be an issue with the design of dryer to not have a condenser that clearly needs regular maintenance accessible by regular technicians.
Designed to fail – The “self cleaning” condenser is designed so that it gets clogged with fluff and stops drying efficiently or at all after some time. Even though the lint filter was cleaned religiously after each load, it no longer heats up and dries anything. It seems that this is because the condenser is clogged and it’s too expensive to pay anyone to pull the… Read more

Bosch Serie 8 WTW87565AU : Badly designed product – I've had a serie 8 Bosch dryer (WTW87565AU) for the last 4 years or so. appear to be any screws holding it together). Why couldn't the door be designed so that the latch could be changed out by just undoing 2 screws? Ridiculous design!
Update: Based upon feedback subsequently received from Bosch, they were unwilling to provide me with repair instructions for the door assembly and suggested that I resort to calling out a qualified technician.
As this part (and the complete door assembly of which it is part of) has no electrical components and no moving parts I cannot see any logical reason why Bosch would not supply me with the repair instructions.
If I called out a qualified technician I would be looking at parts and labour costs of $400-500, for a metal latch that should cost a fraction of that, had this tumble dryer been designed properly. In essence, I wont buy another Bosch appliance.

problem with this model. There are only 2 of us in this house and every time I used this dryer I cleaned both the filters in the door and I washed and scrubbed them weekly (as Bosch recommend). On the Bosch website, it shows this model has writing down the bottom that says ‘Self Cleaning Condenser’ - my machine does not have this on it. The newer models are self cleaning and they also have a pull out compartment at the bottom of the machine that you can clean out and stop fluff building up on the condenser. They do not make this model any more as there was obviously a design fault with machine as they have changed the designs on the newer models. Bosch said I would have to pay a service agent to clean the condenser. Why would I bother to do this if it is only going to build up again, due to the bad design and I would have to pay again later when it stops drying the clothes? I offered to pay the difference to update to the newer design so that the fluff would not build up - Bosch said they don’t do that. This is terrible customer service when Bosch know there is a problem with this model! After reading all the terrible reviews on this Bosch model, I am certainly not alone in being frustrated by the lack of any help from Bosch.
Update: Bosch Service have now contacted me and have arranged to have my dryer repaired at their expense. I would have preferred to pay the difference and updated to a newer model that I could clean the fluff from the condenser, but they still refused to do this.

I'm never been as angry with a household appliance, as I am with this Bosch Serie 8 dryer. I'm tempted to just throw it out and rid myself of the headache of the routine wondering will it or won't it work today each time I consider using it. Some folks suspect that essentially there's a massive pile of gunk in the sump pit that's blocking the water from draining properly. Unfortunately said sump pit, from what I can gather, is extremely difficult to reach. I thought Bosch was a reputable brand in home white goods which is why I purchased both dryer and washer back in 2017, but both units have just been constant headaches, within and beyond their warranty periods. I finally had enough and rang up Bosch today (Saturday 2PM AEST), and of course, they're closed. They're open 24 hrs Monday to Friday but they're closed for the weekends. Why not reduce some of those trading hours during the week, and add weekend coverage.
These Bosch units will be the last Bosch appliances I ever purchase, and I recommend others consider do the same and save yourselves the headaches.

purchase. It doesn't completely dry clothes, & it ties things in knots so there are constantly wet patches. Takes 3 hours to dry 3 bath towels. I've had to have it repaired 3 times, first 2 inside warranty period, & tonight it stopped working again. It's only 4 years old, with reasonably light use. Normal stuff like sheets, towels, clothes. Tonight's issue seems to be the door closed sensor. 2 beeps & nothing else. I'd rather have my fingernails pulled off & stumps cauterised than buy another Bosch appliance.
Great machine – Handles clothes well even drys blankets efficiently Had a problem with door latch but bought a new one online from Bosch and easily fixed it Despite that we would recommend this machine
I thought Bosch Product is made to Last – We bought this product in Good Guys. Minimum 3.5 hours to dry 1 load of clothes. Worst was it is only less than 3 years old and Pump is not working already. get the washing dried as nothing else can go in with a fitted sheet or it ends up curled inside it. I do not recommend this product. In fact despite it only being 12 months old, I'm going to get rid of it. I don't know why they don't make it so the drum alternates direction. If there is a Bosch rep out there - I'm open to ideas.
It does a reasonable job of drying on most cycles but the 'towels' cycle does not dry my 2 towels, 1 face washer and 1 bathmat. It always requires 1 cycle plus an extra 20mins drying cycle.
14 Jan 2022 Bosch rep contacted me advising to fold sheet to reduce the surface area, then put in dryer. I did this and it was about 10pc better but after drying just the 1 sheet for nearly an hour, the edges were still damp where it had been folded. I still have to put each sheet in all by itself which immediately means I have hours of running the dryer just for 1 sheet set. I still rate this dryer as a big fail and do not recommend it at all. I will be tossing it out even tho it is less than 3 years old.
18 Feb 2022: I have contacted Bosch for a refund since I've figured out I have only used the dryer for 12 months and only on rainy days. Today I had one light-weight sheet in the dryer and I had to unravel it within 2.5 minutes. Ridiculous! I ended up standing there for 20minutes unravelling it out of the tight ball every 2.5 minutes. When I look at other reviews of this product on retail websites, the overwhelming issue is this balling of the sheets and the fact that it does not dry towels/clothes properly without using multiple cycles. I will only buy another Bosch dryer if it reverses direction during a cycle. I am waiting to hear back from Bosch.
9/3/22: Bosch have told me that the product is working to specification and my claim is rejected. Great. It's a dryer that doesn't dry and it's allegedly working to specification. How? I've now tried using every setting just to dry a cotton sheet or 2 cotton sheets and it doesn't work. Does anyone out there have any suggestions on how to progress this?

Great clothesdryer, condensor dryers are fantastic! – Have been using this dryer for 2 years now. Really great product. back to a traditional clothes dryer. I use dryer daily for almost every load of washing : Clothes come out a lot softer (not crunchy / overdried) this uses way less power ( noticable on my power bill ) and it doesn't steam up the laundry like traditional dryer. Most cycles average 1.5-2 hours. The only downside is you cant urgently chuck 1 or two items in there and dry them super fast like a traditional dryer - for me as a daily dryer user, the benefits outway the downside.
Clothes still wet – I can’t find a way to get clothes to dry. I’ve tried a whole range of settings and nothing dries - clothes are still very wet (not cold). I’m having to rewash loads every day Show details

now in power savings over a traditional (non heat pump) dryer. The self cleaning condenser is brilliant.
The only problem I have with it is drying sheets. The drum only spins in one direction, unlike most other dryers I've used where they reverse the spin direction periodically. This means your sheets end up in a big twisted up wet ball and you have to pull them out, untwist them and put them on again for another cycle, or use the manual time setting.
It's still a great dryer and I'd recommend it, you just have to put in a bit more effort on your sheet washing day.
