Is there a way to still get spare parts? I need a pair of freestanding floor brackets.

Hi, does this model, Bowin LB90 require a service and who would I need to contact? The pilot comes on, but I don't think it actually ignites the flint? as there is very little heat coming from the unit; many thanks, peggysue

If your model has a mechanical timer (on top right of heater), the timer needs to be turned in order for the heater to work. Also make sure the thermostat (inside door when you light the pilot) is adjusted appropriately (just turn it to a hotter setting to test). Also, I assume the pilot is staying lit once you release the buttons for lighting it? Sometimes you need to hold the button in for an extra 30 seconds or so in order to get it to stay lit once you release the button.

Thank you, I have turned the timer on, the thermostat is adjusted, and yes the pilot light remains on. does this heater need a service, perhaps there is air in the line? I recall my mother had the old candle gas heaters, and it needed a regular service . If this is the case who should I contact for a service?

How do i convert to lpg

Can this heater run on LPG? Thinking of buying a secondhand one

They were normally sold to run on natural gas, but could be modified to run on LPG. Before buying a second hand unit, you would want to confirm whether it has been modified for LPG (likely not, in most cases). A gas-fitter could convert it for you, but it's unlikely to be economical for a second hand unit.

These were generally a school heater and many secondhand models no doubt came out of public schools or tafes. If you are buying one from a metropolitan area where there is town gas, it will likely be set up as such for Natural Gas. However many regional schools used these as well, and as outlying areas dont often have mains gas, heaters in such schools were run off compressed LPG from an onsite tank... If it came from such a school, it will already be set up for LPG. The primary school i attended was one such example of thise that used Bowin space heaters on LPG.

Can we use bottled gas for this heater

i have this heater and its LPG . can I make it work with natural house gas?

Schmo B.

Absolutely, however as the majority of these would have been sold configured for town gas anyway, it may be a better option may be to sell the LPG ready heater and purchase a Natural Gas one which should be readily available secondhand or even new if you are lucky. I realise this is 3 years old, but figure the answer may help somebody still.

I know it's been a long while, but does anyone happen to have the manual? or just tell me exactly how to turn it on? We get the red light and a bit of ? pilot light warmth for a few seconds, but then it cuts out. thanks

If you're having trouble getting the pilot to stay lit, you need to continue to hold the red button in for a further 30 seconds or so after igniting the pilot light, otherwise it will go out when you release the button. Once the pilot is lit (and remaining so) you just need to turn on the timer (if your model has a timer) and adjust the thermostat appropriately.

What is the average price for a unit?

RRP is about $1050 IIRC, but you should be able to get one (new) for about half that.
