I think you charge it up with it switched on

It's a trimmer for sideburns and long hairs.. Press the small button in the middle and slide upwards whilst the main razor is running. They both operate at the same time off the one motor.

Should this shaver give a smooth finish

Ben
Ben

Yes. It should. I know that it can. But it doesn’t. It’s patchy and inconsistent. Some areas I found were completely smooth. And some it didn’t even touch. My advice, go back to razors.

How do you turn the lock light off on the Braun S5?

Ben
Ben

Hi Myrna - I’m not quite sure what you mean by lock light? If you mean locking the head in position, there is a switch right where your thumb naturally rests. Pick up the razor so the power button is facing you and just rest your thumb down where it would naturally fall. That’s the switch right there. To be more specific, it’s directly above the power button. I hope that helps :-)

Shaver keeps beeping and won't stop until battery flat. It is 26 months old.

I purchased this electric shaver yesterday. Can you purchase a charging stand for this. I’m in Sydney. Thanks in anticipation. Peter

Can I use my 5020s with shaving foam?

Batraz
Batraz

Hi Gordon, what I have read in other forums and from experience, a small amount of shaving gel works well. It’s a bit more of a clean up than a dry shave but it’s less irritating IMO. Cheers

Gordon, yes you can use shaving foam to 'wet' shave with the 5020. Foam will make for a smoother shave, but will use more battery power than a dry shave. When using foam, you will need to clean the shaver more thoroughly, to make sure you remove all of the foam from the foil & shaver head.

I Agree with Kev, Foam Makes the Cleaning Much Harder, Stopped using it

You can, but it would require reading the instruction manual.

Press start button for 3 seconds to unlock or lock the travel lock. I was stuck for this info as it was not in the manual.

my 10 year old Braun series 5 seems to work well in-so far as the motor operates the mechanics. However even with brand new foils I can no longer get an acceptable shave.

Any ideas ?

Being a total cynic as far as electric shavers are concerned, the only advice I could offer is to switch to disposable razors as I did.

patrick

That is exactly what I have done. I try to ignore the blood.

If you both hate electric shaving so much, why on Earth don't you purchase a good wet razor, there are quite a lot to choose from, on the market. My three or four attempts of using a disposable razor has been deadly and should only be used as a last resort.
