Have you updated this kettle with one that really is quiet?

No we havent. The worst part of the Kettle is the taste of the boiled water. My only suggestion is DO NOT BUY A BREVILLE KETTLE.

We gave up on the electric kettles completely and bought a Chasseur stove top kettle. It is quiet, looks nice and is cheaper to use.
