An amazing machine – This machine replaced an older and smaller model of in a different brand. The old one was OK but the Breville is absolutely brilliant. It is virtually foolproof and makes standard and gluten free breads that look and taste wonderful. I use a manual setting for the gluten free and it works really well. This machine has made bread making my new hobby. Show details

Collapsible kneading blade – Am I the only person who thinks that $45 is not a reasonable price to pay for this replacement part, which only works well for maybe a year. I have two of these ovens, as well as the previous model without the collapsing blade. All machines work well but these blades!!!!! For $45 I believe they should use a better designer. This bread maker is my best friend – A really nice bloke in Nowra will send you new seals and bushes as you eventually wear it out. He even gives you instructions or an option to just replace the tin. I have used this bread maker all the time. Everyone loves my pizzas, fruit loaf and Indian garlic nans.......absolutely recommend this model. I have no idea about the updated model though. Mike  Show details

A superior breadmaker – I have owned several BB80/BB100 breadmakers. The BB420 is much quieter during its kneading cycle, can make larger loaves, has an automatic nut dispenser, and leaves a smaller hole in the loaf because the kneading blade folds down before baking. It uses a different wholemeal cycle that produces better wholemeal loaves. I haven't tested it for… Read more

making jam. The main negative is that it is taller than a BB100, and so may not fit in the same cupboard.

20 yrs and counting – My partners mother gave us her bread maker (she wasn't using it and said we would get more use out of it) and it is still making bread so yummy and fluffy. I love making rolls and cooking bread to have for dinner. WELL DONE BREVILLE. PS: I estimated the purchase date as we were given it as a hand-me-down.  Show details

Love it my second one, as cheaper to buy whole thing than new pan – I love this product and yes very easy to use. Settings and features simple to follow. Only down side when bowl needs replacing think it's pretty sad over $100 with postage. My Mum also misses hers she couldn't afford new bowl. We bought the white dome as ultimate was not available at the time, and has is not happy.  Show details

A good machine BUT – Have been making a 1kg loaf each week for just over 2 years as well as a pizza base every couple of weeks with no problems BUT the base of the loaf bin disintegrated ie multiple cracks developed and water went everywhere. Rang Breville but because the machine is out of warranty a replacement bin is $96.00 plus postage. What a rort! A friend of… Read more

mine had the same issue and forked up for a new pan. The problem is that the bread pan is made out of thin aluminium ie not made to last. The only way I could work around the issue was to put the yeast in first followed by the mix and then the water. By the time the water has reached the bottom of the pan it has been kneaded with the mix. Don't bother trying to fix the cracks with silicon, BJ Weld or a similiar epoxy; it won't adhere because of the non-stick coating. A feature I really love is the "Bake only" option for when I'm doing sourdough; just give it the standard 55 minutes and then repeat for another 20 to 30 minutes.

Our BB400 is nearly 20 years old and although not perfect it is a well built reliable machine – Our BB400 was purchased new in the mid 90's and used to turn out a loaf every second day + pizza bases, sweet breads and jams and it had to work harder than many breadmakers because we used our own stoneground flour from our own wheat which is much heavier than commercial flour. It wore out a few bread pans (@ $70 each) and several seals in each… Read more

pan but the mechanics and electronics are still operational although it only makes one loaf a fortnight now the children have left home.

The temperature sensor must be drifting out of specification now because the bread comes out very pale and we have to finish it off in the oven. We found a barely used BB400 at a garage sale and bought it just to have a spare bread pan and found that although that machine had had very little use its temperature sensor wasn't working properly either because even with the crust control on Dark its loaf was quite pale as well.

ULTI9ATE BAKERS OVEN EXCELLENT – Love the product ;need to improvise with different bread mixes .I have a 3kg. bucket of breadmix which I keep in refriigerator have never had a failure with Allied Mills mix. Use 600 grams mix 10 grams yeast sprinkle yeast on top of mix ( in container before adding to baking pan )mix together with 350 mls water bake as 1.25 kg on medium crust setting Hope this helps disgruntled users.

Dissappointed – Bought this because it claimed the biggest loaf available, and have to say that we were very disappointed. Tried a couple of the recipes and they were flops. In the end we found that only one particular breadmix, and one particular yeast would work. Could not make the 1.25kg loaf because it would overflow the can when rising and stick to the… Read more

oven.

To make a 1kg loaf, we had to manually assist the first mix, or it would leave globs of unmixed flour in the corners.

We used the dispenser to make fruit bread, but it would drop the sultanas in before the first knead and consequently completely smash them. Half the time they would not even drop and we’d have to fish burnt sultanas out of the dispenser.

The keep warm function didn’t work. If left more than half an hour the bottom of the loaf would become soggy.

Very hit and miss, extremely difficult to get a good loaf

Terrible – I would not buy it again due to replacement cost of tin. I have already purchased 1 new tin and now I require another. There is only a 3 month guaranteed on replacement parts (such as the tin) as it is considered a consumable. Bakes great bread. The tin needs replacing after less than 1 year costing $100.

Wish I hadn't left it in the cupboard ten years – Finally started using this bread machine after leaving it to gather dust for ten years. Breadmaker that does what it says - time after time – A reliable decent sized breadmaker. Easy clean, great recipes in the supplied book and does a great job of making exotic loaves. Well worth the money. Does what it says without any quibbles. Reliable and easy to program. Would be great is they could somehow add a little light inside to make viewing easier. It's like watching nocturnal animals at night. Show reply

Excellent Bread Oven - Reliable Everytime – After a lot of research at the time, I purchased the Beville Ultimate Baker's Oven BB420. This was a number of years ago, approx. three years and the oven is still going strong! I have tried a number of the many different bread recipes that are provided in the instruction booklet and also made some strawberry jam. I have even successfully… Read more

made gluten free bread and spelt flour bread.

When using this machine and I am sure this would go for any bread machine, I recommend you check the mixing early on to make sure you have added enough liquid. The required liquid can vary depending on the batch/type of flour you use.

Overall this bread machine is a great addition to my kitchen with no problems in it's performance. Reliable and fun to use - the smell of freshly baked bread is wonderful The collapsible kneading blade does eventually stop collapsing but you can easily buy replacements (I did this once) however the mixer still works fine, as long as it is "stuck" in the upright position

OK – A great bread maker except for the bin issues (leaking seals and peeling paddle). I would buy another Breville if they've improved the bin because it has been reliable given its daily use and bakes great bread most of the time. Had this bread maker for 5 years. We've baked a loaf every day and it makes perfect loaves most of the time. Had to… Read more

adjust the water and yeast to get loaves just right, particularly when we changed bread mixes. Rectangular loaf is great. We no longer use the timer because loaves were not mixing properly. We've been through 2 bins and a paddle kit each year because the seals leaked over time. The seals have gone in our new bin in less than 6 months of use. A bit disappointing for a $120 bin & $25 for a new paddle kit. Peeling paddle also an issue for us. Baking function failed this month and techs tell me it's not worth fixing given the labour cost.

Good – Great breadmaker - would definitely recommend it. Have not had any problems with it yet and it has had quite a bit of use so far. I make fruit bread twice a week and it is fantastic for pizza dough - comes… Read more

out perfectly every time. The consistency and quality of the bread is great. I also love the fact that you can make different loaf sizes. Automatic fruit and nut dispenser is too small so you end up with not much fruit in your fruit bread. It is also very loud when it dispenses - I still jump every time it releases the fruit! Sometimes takes a few minutes to get the mixing blade to release after use - I soak it in water and that helps.

Terrible – On the outside this machine appears to have all the bells and whistles .What a fabulous concept , if only it would work! I love the collapsible blade and all the different crust options are great. a current model. I am very disappointed with this Breville because more often than not, the bread has not mixed properly and the loaf is no good. We are on our second machine in three weeks. The new machine is not looking too great either. I've wasted a lot of time and money on this model already! We'll see what Breville have to say. Perhaps there's a bad batch of machines ou there as I see another reviewer has the same problem.

Excellent – Well worth the investment, and by using Laucke bread mix, perfect results every time.I was told by a retailer that this is one of two brands worth buying. faultless operation over many years could not speak more highly of it.Parts are available direct. It is easy to clean.I would not be without it. The mixer shaft and bearings need replacing occasionally, which is not an easy job,but saves the large cost of replacing the whole bucket.

Excellent – I dont understand why the low scores. I have been using this unit for 5 years and not a single problem....trick I use is that before I place ingredients, I add a tablespoon of olive oil and drop it on the flipup blade....this stops the blade from sticking in the bread but makes it very soft and the crust nice and crusty... Sure, it took a few… Read more

OK – We bought the breville to upgrade from the basic sunbeam model. We had it for about 2 months and used it almost everyday and made perfect bread. What i ended up with was a perfect looking… Read more

loaf on top but a ground out mess underneath. We took it back to Myer and we now have the breville bakers oven as they didn't have the same as this one in stock and it was going to take a few months till they got it. So I'm trying it out this morning, I don't have a lot of hope for it as it has one star on this site, but we'll see we can always take it back like the last one. It made nice bread, easy to use and has a programmable function It went crazy

Terrible – Would not recommend to anyone, you would be better off buying a cheaper one - at least if it breaks down you haven't lost as much. Easy to use and bread tasted great. Broke down after 14 months - just out of warranty. My Mum has a cheaper breadmaker that has been going for years and years yet one of the most expensive to buy dies after just 1 year.

OK – Excellent breadmaker and the only one I have found that has the longer loaf size, but have become increasingly concerned about the paddle coatings coming off. I am now looking for a breadmaker that can avoid this problem - oh, and works as well too. Rate at 5 for bread quality, but 1 for paddle coatring concerns - therefore 3 overall. Reliable… Read more

producer of good bread and doughs. I have had my machine for 10 years +. I have not had any bad experiences, except the odd occasion when I left the paddle off the spindle! The fruit and nut dispenser is far too small to be useful and broke many years ago after trying to put too much in. Now just pause the cycle and add by hand - no big problem really. The major concern is the delamination of the non-stick coating on the paddle. What else are we eating other than flour, water, and yeast and, more importantly, what is it doing to us? This happens after about 6 months (approx 40-50 loaves)and I have alreading gone through innumerable blades (and two pans). This problem is exaccerbated by using wholegrain flour, we've been told.

Excellent – Using it for 5 years now, very happy. People here are saying that it does not mix properly. Not true. They have to put a bit more water. Get water right and you will get perfect bread every time. Nothing really.

Good – Resurrected from the shed, after not using for years. Roared into life and now using it solely for our bread.Bread mixes have also improved,Laucke Soy and Linseed produces a perfect loaf. Easy to use, however have lost the instructions The mixing blade occasionally getting lost in the bread

OK – Had too many cookings where the bread hasnt risen properly, so have made my own manual settings as a permanent setting. reply and never got it.

Had a Panasonic(SD-200) prior to this one that lasted over 10 years(element burnt out), and was excellent, so maybe should have stuck with same make and model.

The Panasonic was the small sized bread-maker. Easy control panel.

Fruit and Nuts dispenser works OK. Doesnt mix the dough properly.

You have to premix the ingredients in the bread-maker tin.

Excellent – I read all the reviews and hedged my bets very carefully, I was a little sceptical considering 2 reviewers commented on the mixing abilities but I find if you leave it, it will pick up all the ingredients as it mixes. preset thing or they wont turn out. Very very disappointing considering this is supposed to be the top of the line of their machines. Great crusts when you get to the baking part it doesnt seem to mix well. I didnt see this site before I bought my machine otherwise I wouldnt have bought this model. It seems to a very poor mixing, dont know if it was due just to the size and perhaps shapes of tin and mixing blade, but it is annoying for that respect. I have also contacted Breville and am waiting for their reply

Excellent – Look if your after the best then this is supposed to be the best, for me it makes great bread 2-3 times a week without fail. Recipe book is a little limited but once you get the basics you just make it up as you go. It's really easy to program, it's got a light in it and if you shop around as I did you'll knock $100 of the rrp Simple, clear, fold down blade Very loud beep that gets annoying. Recipe book is a little limited
