Terrible! Does not work – I purchased this mixer after a friend recommended it as it was on special offer. Oh how I wish I had read the reviews before I did. Both she and I had problems with this mixer, as listed in all the reviews so far: - Does not mix properly, everything sticks to the side so you have to constantly scrape it down - Vibrates like crazy and feels… Read more

unsafe at time - Is not capable of the baking basics such as creaming, whipping or aerating

As this was my first time buying a benchtop mixer, at first I thought I this was the norm but found myself avoiding using the mixer as it caused more trouble then it was worth. Because of this I've only used it a handful of times and each time I have it's been an unpleasant experience. I tried to do some egg whites earlier and ended up doing it by hand! Got fed up and decided to write this review.

I so wish I'd returned it when I had the chance but it's too late now

Absolute rubbish – I have only had this for a little over a year I have stayed to use it once a week to make biscuits instead of buying them. Put in butter cut up to mix with sugar it took so long to do it and just stopped working when I lifted it up to see what happened the beaters were bent out of shape and the unit got that hot it will not turn on again. Very disappointed don't buy this complete rubbish  Show details

Poor design – The motor stopped working after a few times of light usage, but unfortunately more than one year after purchasing, Hence the warranty was over. I opened it to see what was wrong, and I was surprised to see that components inside were glued with hot glue all round. Motor, brushes and switches were ok, so I assumed the problem was with the PCB which was not available as spare part. It ended up in the bin.

I have pieces of metal coming of the mixers, every time I use it not happy as I don't use it regular – This mixer is worse than my mixer I had for over 30 years which was a sunbeam as a wedding gift. Today was a dessert for tomorrow night and had to take metal pieces out of the final product. Not happy, very poor product. Must admit did buy from big w as didn't have the funds to buy a new sunbeam wish. I had waited or not brought this machine.

Dangerous – This product's only redeeming features are that it looks nice, is light and relatively quiet. If you are mixing anything at all viscous such as a dough it vibrates violently, the mixing bowl lifts off the turntable and the whole machine gyrates across your benchtop. I asked Breville for a refund or replacement but they refused as it was well out… Read more

of warranty. I explained that it wasn't a warranty issue but a design issue and that the machine never met the claims Breville had made of it, to no avail. In my view it is reasonable to expect a stand mixer to be able to mix a single loaf of bread mix without leaping off your bench. I should have known better after my previous Breville experiences - my Ikon kettle blew up just out of warranty and my Breville cafe style sandwich press tips over with the lid open.

Mixer stops when the machine is horizontal – Very disappointed with this unit. I was e coted to buy it as it wasnt a chesp jnit. When you put the mixer in a horizontal position it stops working. Initially we thought this was a feature and eventually realized it is that the mixing prongs are loose and they dislodge and cause the machine to stop. Do not buy this machine it is totally useless

Its ok. Still going after a few years – I bought this mixer from Target a few years ago now. It was my first bench mixer and i was pretty happy with the basic stuff i bake. I didnt know anything else. Ive been waiting for it to die so i can buy a much better one as I've now started baking more complex stuff. ITs still going going! I find that the turn table spins out of control on… Read more

high speed. It struggled a little with dough. But got there in the end. I find the 2 bowls very convenient.

Im about to retire it as I've just bought a Breville 820. Cant wait to see how that goes

Waste of money – This mixer will not perform even the basics required to make a cake, creaming butter and sugar is virtually impossible. The bowl jumps off the turntable as soon as the beaters hit the butter. Mix is pushed away from the beaters and the only way to make it work is to take it off the stand and use as a hand mixer, not ideal as the mixer is quite… Read more

heavy and cannot be put on the bench unless you lay it down. Very disappointed wont buy Breville products again. They trade on past reputation and I wont be sucked in again.

Bad design, motor burned out in 6 months minimal use – We bought this as our first work top mixer, always had a hand mixer before. We felt it was quite an investment. It gets used perhaps once or twice a month. We've had it 6 months and it doesn't work anymore. In fact, it sounds dangerous as I can hear sparking noises coming from the motor! What's waste of money- very disappointed with Breville.… Read more

Consider this a very poor design because when I get it out of the cupboard, the rear speed dial is easily moved to a speed position and I plug it in and it's already spinning. Once I had the dough hooks in the bowls and the whisks attached and it started up!!! Could have been extremely dangerous! It needs to lock in the off position.

I don't see the point in calling Breville service line as judging by other reviews, they are just unempowered call centre agents. i didn't keep the box or receipt, so I'll throw it and buy another brand. Waste of money - steer clear!!! Two sizes of bowl Poor design - dangerous!. Motor failed in 9 months of minimal use.

Not very happy – Purchased similar mixer to this only 18 months ago and all of the writing has rubbed off. I do not scub hard at it when I clean it however I cannot tell how fast it actually goes when I use it. It is now out of warranty. I do not want to go out and purchase a brand new one as it works and I understand if I had the product for a longer period of… Read more

time but 18 months is not that long.

I do own another Breville product and the writing is starting to rub off that as well but it has been a little longer than 18 months. I will not be recommending any Breville products that have alot of writing on them to anyone. works well can't read the markings

Waste of money – This mixer lasted 18 months and that was using Maby once a fortnight. Save a bit more money and buy a better dearer brand. Although i paid around $100 for mine plus i got a free (yeah right ) bread board. I see they are on special at the good guys now for $69 (something like that) and on E Bay for $80 and over, hmmmm. I sent breville an email… Read more

telling them i was dissapointed and wanted a replacement and they havnt even had the courtesy to call me back. Not only has this stopped me from ever buying a on sale Breville but i will Never buy Breville again.

PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS MIXER! – I went to the shop to replace my trusted Sunbeam mixer, only to be "seduced" by the nice looking red mixer standing next to it. It matched all my other appliances. It was the Breville 200R. I took it home and eagerly started making a simple cake. I then quickly realised how stupid I had been to destroy the box, as I would have taken it straight… Read more

back to the shop. The bowls don't rotate if the beaters have to mix anything heavier than cream. Then when it rotates it pushes the mix towards the side of the bowl and is mixing nothing really. So after countless times stopping the bowl to scrape the mix down in tot he path of the beaters, my mood and frustration had reached an all time high.

Please do not buy this mixer, invest in a sunbeam little mixer, I had so many good years out of that. The bowl of the sunbeam hooks into the revolving plate unlike the Breville which won't turn with the revolving plate under the slightest resistance of your mixture.

I complained of course to no avail, got the answer to scrape the mixture down.

This certainly wasn't designed nor tested by a woman! Only the red colour The bowls are too square and the beaters don't follow the curves of the bowls. Also the bowls should hook into the turntable. Now ithat just turns and the bowl stands still.

Breville, thanks for nothing – I went out looking for a mixer for my partners birthday. She had always wanted a mixer, I was in a position where I could spend $200 and figured Breville would be the way to go as we had a cupboard full of of their products. Boy was I wrong. Whilst the unit appeared to be of reasonably quality we where deeply disappointed from the first time we… Read more

used it.

This unit struggled to perform the basic function we purchased it for. Mixing.

Using a packet cake mix the machine pushed a fair percentage of the mix into the center where the beaters don't reach. about the size of a 50c piece.

In order to mix the contents adequately we had to resort to mixing it buy hand.

Have used the unit twice since with the same result, we end up mixing it by hand.

So now we dont even bother using the machine as we will end up mixing it by hand any way.

Figured I would make a call to Breville about the issue.

Described the issue and was informed that it sounds like the unit is functioning correctly.

I asked if not mixing a large quantity of the mixture and having to manualy finish the mixing was considered normal to which I got the response. Sounds normal to me.

I was offered the opportunity to take the machine to a repairer to determin if it was functioning correctly.

The issue is not as if the unit is functioning correctly or not but based around the unit not being fit for the purpose. The box it came in, definitely fit for purpose unlike the product it contained. $2 beater does a better job.

Low quality product – I purchased the WizzMix BEM200C and have used it less than 5 times but just noticed that the coating on the beater has started peeling. I contacted Breville to highlight this product defect and as it is just over a year old, I was told that the part is no longer under warranty and I need to purchase and also pay for the postage. I am shocked as I… Read more

would have thought the first action by Breville is to request for the beater and identify why the coating started peeling and the health of persons who might have consumed the coatings. Unfortunately I contacted Breville customer service a number of times and tried to escalate to their management but it seems to be the same response from their customer service i.e. it is out of warranty and I need to pay for the part and postage if I want the beater. I am hesitant to pay for something if there is no guarantee that the product defect has been rectified. A friend who also purchased the product has also told me that their beater has started to peel as well. Also, the mix type and speed indicator writings have started to fade on both of our mixers. Is it worth the $189? Definitely not. This product is inferior and poorly made. Looks like a good appliance. Beater is low quality and coating peels. Mix type and speed markings are fading.

As others have said this is a totally useless product – As said before :- - Bowl spins randomly - No chance it will mix even a simple cake mixture as everything sticks to the sides - Wont mix bread dough as its moves off its spinner Bottom line is its cheap for a reason, its useless. How Breville can even sell this as a mixer when it cant even mix a cake is beyond me. Totally useless & please… Read more

dont make my mistake and buy one. Its design, funky looks, bright colours & great price Everything else, its never worked once & is basically a giant paperweight. Totally useless !

Worst thing I ever bought for my kitchen!! – I read all the things it promised it would do and decided to buy this machine, it was the worst purchase I have ever made as complained by other friends, the food sticks to the sides of the bowl and the attahcments beat nothing! when I want to knead a dough using it, it turns into bread crumbs. machine starts jumping on the bench top. Buying this machine was like throwing my $180.00 in bin. It's good for nothing! Doesn't do anything right. I'll have to throw this rubbish away and buy something good. Just used it three times. Please do not buy it.

Everything, expensive, does not do what it is suppose to do. Total rubbish!

appaulling – Numbers wiped off the speed dial the first time i used it. After using it no more than 6 times in an 18 month period it stopped working altogether, motor runs - beaters don't spin. Because it was out of warranty breville didn't care that it had minimal use. Only reason i bought it, and no reviews were out yet, was because i trusted the brand,… Read more

otherwise would have forked out the money for a reputable brand in mixers. To add insult to injury, one of the feet then fell off. I liked that there were 2 bowl sizes. writing rubs off speed dial, foot fell off, beaters stopped spinning, water traps in bowl base when washing, has gone rusty.

Terrible – This is a very very very disappointing purchase, as I have been without a stand-mixer for several years, and was looking forward to an orgy of baking. reasons for purchasing this particular model. There are no redeeming features for this model, that I have found. The speed cannot be adjusted down to a level I would expect, or have experienced ...it seems to be very fast even on the lowest setting, so you cannot fold in dry ingredients (even on the setting for that process). Butter/margarine sticks to the sides and you have to constantly stop the motor, hand mix, and then start again.

I found that even egg whites did not whisk to my satisfaction.

Steer clear of this one – Baking is my thing and after my hand mixer died I thought I might spend a little extra and go for the breville wizz BEM200. The machine is, in short, useless. Creaming butter is impossible with the majority of it 'wizzing' to the sides of the bowl within seconds of starting up the appliance. It didn't seem to matter how much I put in the bowl, it… Read more

still failed to mix even the most basic of cake mixture. Whipping cream, albeit a minor success required that the appliance be at 'full throttle' and it seemed to vibrate quite a lot. Looks good, two mixing bowls, beaters, dough hooks You have to work hard to achieve barely acceptable results

Terrible – Overall, very disappointing. As it was a gift I feel bad asking my mum for the receipt, but after seeing others and their disappointing reviews I am going to ask for it and give Breville a call and see if I can be compensated. My mum & dad gave this to my fiancé and I as a engagement gift. They chose it mainly because of the two metal bowls.… Read more

Although I have never used them, it does come with kneading attachment as well. Beating is very inconsistent. Food constantly sticks to the side and you have to stop it and scrap the edges. Also, I find that the control is so sensitive that when you turn it on at the wall you have to double check that the speed is at off otherwise it spins out of control. The speeds are not exact and not easy to control. I find creaming butter and sugar is near impossible. The bowl bounces around and the ingredients stick to the side.

Terrible – This mixer is an absolute lemon. If you subscribe to Choice then check out the review, it received the lowest rating of all benchtop mixers. My mother spent her money, of which she has little, on this mixer as a Christmas present for me. She was so excited when she gave it to me. I do a lot of baking and generally use my fantastic, 15 year old… Read more

Sunbeam hand beaters which have served me well. My mum thought it would be great to get me a benchtop mixer to make life easier. Using this mixer is more work and yields a poorer result than my handbeaters. The mixer is very unstable, if you want to have a laugh you can watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agiTwiiY2XE It slaps the cake mixture aound the edges of the bowl out of reach of the beaters. I made some cupcakes and had to stop and scrape every 30 seconds or so. The creamed butter and sugar (which took forever) stayed around the edges and didn't mix in with the flour and milk. I contacted Breville and they said I could have my money back if I produced the original receipt which of course I can't because it was a gift. What irks me is that they STILL sell this mixer, even though they are well aware of the problems with it. It does not do anything it is supposed to do. Do not, under any circumstances, buy this mixer. It comes with dough hooks and seems to handle whisking of egg whites Just about everything - noisy, vibrates, slaps mixture around the bowl out of reach of the beaters, you have to stop and scrape repeatedly

OK – Conceptually, the Breville Wizz is superior to the Kenwood Patissier as it has all the convieniences such as the extra bowl, the electronic speed control knob and the off-centre hooks. However, in practice, it is built much too flimsily, with the whole body being constructed out of plastic. While this is what is to be expected of the price range,… Read more

in reality, it would be much better to spend an extra $40 and purchase the Kenwood which is not as susceptible to such problems which are bound to happen at some point of the Breville's lifetime. It mixes consistently, the off-centre position made it easy for adding ingredients and the small bowl was excellent for mixing small quantities such as icing. Comes in a nice red colour. The fact that because it was plastic and top heavy, a slight misalignment (by a couple of mm) at the hinge meant that the beaters touched the bottom of the bowl. This caused scraping and rendered the whole machine useless. I had to ask for a refund after a month of use and purchase the Kenwood Patissier instead.
