This is what a $75,000 pool from Buccaneer Pools / Aquatic Leisure Technologies resulted in:
A 15‑month installation ordeal that ended with a pool system that is failed, unsafe, and unusable. Despite countless attempts to have issues rectified, the installation remains plagued with defects, including:
-Poor Time keeping and scheduling - Poor workmanship across every stage of the project - Swim jets that are unfit for purpose and incapable of delivering even basic performance - Persistent low pressure throughout the system, never reaching the advertised output - Unstable, non‑compliant equipment bases causing vibration, excessive noise, and safety risks - A visibly bowed pool shell, indicating improper installation and inadequate site preparation - Repeated failures of three pool pumps and four swim‑jet pumps, all operating below specification - Two robot cleaners that have also failed - A chaotic, unprofessional equipment area with tangled cabling, over‑tightened ties, and no proper layout or protection - A pool pump positioned so poorly it cannot be accessed correctly - Ongoing leaks, plumbing faults, and automation failures that render the pool unusable - A spa that is misaligned, not at the correct height, and resonates like a drum when stepped into - Failed automation components - Failed spa/pool heater - And many more unresolved issues
All of this followed a misleading and pressured handover, pushed through by an employee, [Name Removed] (Operations Analyst), despite the pool being clearly incomplete, non‑functional, and non‑compliant at the time.
A project that should have delivered a premium, fully functioning pool has instead become a catalogue of defects, safety hazards, and equipment failures—the kind of experience no consumer should ever be subjected to.

We went for the top of the line and full package (Spa, Pool, landscaping, and high graded equipment), but we are at the bottom of their priority
Meanwhile some facts: • 6 Months since Contract signed, • 2 Months since Excavation, • Positioned the pool wrongly and was missing 4 spa jets initially, • Damaged main water line & storm drain • Left excess soil and rock to destroy a very healthy front lawn • Temporary removed garden plants are not surviving.
The front lawn will now be replaced by Aqua Leisure Technologies, but it is just adding again more time
We are still waiting for our pool, spa and landscaping to be completed, so we can enjoy it this summer, currently we are just at the start of the second stage of completion. But up till now at every step something went wrong and keeps adding more time. We feel we must share our story as its just too hard to believe this could happen WA especially when we thought we had chosen the most awarded, experienced and professional pool company in WA.

Do Not USE this company – We have had a pool installed that has basically been left for 4 weeks now! No communication no follow up! We are constantly chasing them to find out what is happening! After the swim jet fault was obvious on the day of handover we were told they installed the faulty swim jets for four other customers (at that stage). Half-arsed attempts at repairs. Riverina Pools. They are all the same people. Now they are ignoring us. As it fits the classification of a 'major problem' under Australian Consumer Law we have the legal right to choose refund as the resolution. The way they have managed this makes it clear to us that its likely we will have to enforce our legal entitlement under Australian Consumer Law with court action. The local media would probably be interested, we are obviously one of many unhappy customers.
Poor Quality – Absolutey useless with no idea of what they are doing! In less than 3 months we have had the pump replaced, jets not working properly, electrical failing and pipes leaking. No matter how many times they have been out, roughly 6 times so far, no one seems to know what they are doing and we have lost complete trust in this company. Avoid if you can! Show details

dont buy a buccaneer pool – nothing from start to finish went as they told us it would, one week before installation it was cancelled due to council which they knew several months before, got refund but we were out of pocket $6000 in pavers fencing and electrical and they couldn't care less. Whilst he was happy to provide a ballpark estimate, he was insistent on a site visit, which in the end may have saved us a lot if headache. Yes, other estimates were slightly less, but we felt that James covered off on potential unexpected issues and made sure we were aware of the impact on cost and time.

Very Good Service – Just got pool hand over and very happy how the process went, specially has in was installed during house build. Buccaneer Pools have been excellent throughout the process, especially with delays with getting installation date and short notice given to them to complete the final installation before the pouring of the concrete around the pool. backwash to go. He put chemicals in but said he needed another session to clean it as it had been left too long. He said scheduling would be in touch and if not, to call mid week as if I don’t get a technician back the pool will go green again, making his first visit redundant. I called at 9am today, customer service said scheduling would be in touch. I called again at 3.45pm as I’d heard nothing and they still had no date and I was told the whole scheduling team had gone home. It’s so incredibly frustrating that Buccaneer take most of your money and you feel so powerless. They even had the nerve to send me my final invoice earlier this week. I know it’s not the fault of the team on the phone but their emotionless robotic “we will call you back” responses are so disheartening. You don’t feel truly listened to. I have concrete being poured next week. I’m so disappointed as this is our second Buccaneer Pool, I thought the issues we had last time would’ve been rectified. We only went with them again due to the size/shape of the pool. I will not be using or recommending them again.

Absolute joke – When pool was I nstalled long length of pool had over 50mm sag and was bowing out. They sent someone out to fix it but still had 23mm along back and a 20mm sag to front. Very disappointing. Customer service shocking – So was meant to have pool installed 4th Oct. Got delayed as they found crack in pool mould. I understand this. But then installation happened 14th Oct. All contractors were not talking to each other there was some fights between some contractors. it's not happening. Yesterday we finally had some of stage 2 done. As they had to leave by 1130am. Today was meant to be compaction. Got a call this morning saying stage 2 hasn't been completed yet so compaction can't happen. We were told hand over would be Thursday 10th November. Now we have been delayed again until Monday or Tuesday. No one has given us any direction. Communication between contractors poor as. Even Communication from Bucaneers just as poor. It's been a very stressful period with not knowing what is going on and the mess still sitting out there nearly 4 weeks after pool installed. the love was lost. We engaged the company to do all works including paving and landscaping. They used our old soil to backfill which was not clean fill. It was full of roots and vegetation from the old plants and grass and did not meet Australian Standards. The paving and landscaping works were found to be in breach of Australian Standards by Building and Energy and have still not been rectified after the order was issued in February 2022. We have since engaged an independent inspector to investigate the edge beam that continues to roll inwards and he found many defects attributed to faulty installation. The pool wall has bulged out, which is what has caused the edge beam to roll in. The pool floor is being pulled upwards as a result. It is at risk of cracking and they refuse to take the pool out which is the only way to fix all the issues and relieve all the stress being exerted on the pool shell. The ground was poorly prepared and the whole pool is set on uneven ground.

Terrible customer service – This company is shocking! I have been waiting for almost a year to get my pool installed. Customer Services is a joke! They have no information about the progress they give you dates that services will be done and they never show up! I missed 3 working days because their lack of communication. Avoid – We bought a Buccaneer pool, installed in 2007 . The safety ledge cracked soon after it was installed and has continued to crack every few year in the same place around the ledge. installed the pool without a hydrostatic valve that was in the contract. Every time we have a crack in the pool it’s a nightmare as we are on clay. The pool is also uneven, by 2 cm on one side.

Buccaneer Pools = AVOID – Buccaneer Pools is a company I really would AVOID dealing with. The salesman was nice and helpful (and I have no complaint there), but things went downhill very quickly as soon as they came to installing. I was blown away how poor the service was including 1) Not taking away sand/ dirt during the dig despite me paying (resulting in myself… Read more

The pool was 40,000lt and the man said we took 35 cubic meters, leaving at least 5- 10 left over for me to deal with. 2) service people not showing up to scheduled times (despite taking 2 days off to meet with them). Service people not showing up with specific equipment despite me contacting them to remind them. 3) No-one contacting me regarding what was the next point, at one stage they noted it would be a month wait of a slimy green dirty water pool that had no plumbing attached.
Overall, dissatisfied, and very disappointed, do yourself a favour and avoid Buccaneer, Auqatechnics and Sapphire. If you have signed with them don’t pay unless you are happy with the outcome, they will pressure you into paying in advance despite the job not being complete.

spot delaying backfill, pump installed with incorrect orientation. Payments being taken from our account despite having confirmation in writing that no payments would be debited until issues were resolved, finally got a confirmed refund amount (which was challenged), approved for an additional refund, only to have the invoice changed in their favor. Nothing short of ridiculous. Getting responses from the team is near impossible - countless calls, and emails went unresponded to. I shudder to think how difficult dealing with them will be should a warranty issue arise.

After huge fights and back and forth we were booked in for excavation on the 30 Nov and installation 1 Dec. only once the pool was literally just put in the hole were we informed that there were major delays and we would be waiting for 3 weeks for the rest of the installation. In these 3 weeks we had the electrician come out (whom I cannot fault they were great) then came the plumber and finally the last phase pencil compaction and handover …..or not. We were informed on this day that they had not backfilled the pool had a bow In it and the plumbing was incorrect. By this time I must add that the pool was a green swamp. The pencil compactor managed to get our pool sort of ok to swim in at least for Christmas (he was awesome and really helpful). Fast forward to the new year someone comes out and fixes up the plumbing disaster, manages to sort the bow out (at least that’s what we’ve been told, I’m sure this will be double checked) and were then booked for a bobcat to come and do the backfilling today 7 Jan, received a message this morning saying that this won’t be happening as he has called in sick. I’m sick of following up and begging for a service that I have already paid for and had to be paid upfront. These are only a few of the issues we’ve had I haven’t bothered mentioning the others as I’d be on buccaneers timing and never get done.

8 weeks of absolute incompetence – Pool was installed on the 22nd of September. It had no light fitted and this took some time to sort out. Initially too much sand was removed. Trying, but not getting there – My experience with Bucaneer pools has been very unsatisfactory. Problems started after the site inspection set expectations that everything could proceed as per the landscape designs. On the day of the dig it was discovered that the water table was too high and the pool had to either come up 0.5m or the ground water pumped out, at an estimated… Read more
$3.5k. I don't know if I made the right decision in the 10 minutes before all the contractors left site with the long awaited pool was taken way for the rest of summer, but I went with the idea of it sitting 0.5m higher and had to spend another $500 on getting the designs changed. Could Buccaneer have done anything about this? Perhaps the site inspection should have included this aspect given the known elevated water table in this area. The next issue came with the equipment installation. I was advised to build a slab of a specific size to encompass all of the equipment. 3 times the equipment had to be cut apart, new parts sourced, new resources scheduled and the system reassembled, so that it fitted on the slab. The additional cost to Buccaneer would have been extensive but it meant another 2 months' delay to me and summer was ending. While installing, one of the 3 contractors spilt piping glue over the heater ("we'll replace it"--still waiting), the heater wifi unit wouldn't work ("we'll order a new one and install it"--still waiting), the installation was not completed as per the manufacturer's instructions in terms of pipe runs and the requirement to bolt the equipment to the pad ("don't worry, not important"), a key part of the pool blanket wasn't delivered ("we'll have it dropped off"--they did), and most troubling of all was that no one was familiar with the Naked system I had purchased as part of the deal ("when they do the final handover, they'll walk you through it"--as of September 11, still waiting). Despite contacting them a number of times to ask what was going on with the outstanding items, I didn't hear anything back until I received the final invoice at the end of July. I responded with an email listing the outstanding issues and haven't heard back (I assume they'll be responding upon reading this boring old fart's life story recounted here). In the meantime, the blanket's been on and the system has been running every day as it was setup, on Auto. The kicker came last week when I pulled the robot pool cleaner out after sitting in there for 3 months (huge mistake!). My $1,500 S100 Dolphin ("best investment you'll ever make") was destroyed, rubber tracks turned to glue, plastic corroded from the super high chlorine levels, the motor casing smashed open by the softest cable tugging and the electronics destroyed. All my fault for leaving it in there, not familiarising myself with all relevant details, but there goes $1,500 waiting for a handover. At least summer's around the corner and I've gotten a pool company to come in and sort things out and it looks great. Root causes: Buccaneer were too busy to be able to manage too many contractors running all over the place with no real quality processes and standards in place. Pity.
