positioning the pool light so it faces away from the house (so we’re not blinded at night) stuff you wouldn’t even think of, but makes such a difference.

The pool has completely changed our backyard and we’re already getting heaps of use out of it.

recommended contractors. During a pool build there is a lot of unforeseen additional work — in my case plumbing and landscaping. While I understand these trades are technically independent, they were provided as recommendations and I trusted that they would be reliable and fairly priced.

Unfortunately, I felt significantly overcharged. I was billed approximately $2,000 for around 1.5 hours of plumbing work, and paving was quoted at $260 per square metre — well above typical market rates. This created unexpected cost overruns and put pressure on the overall project budget.

I’m not questioning the quality of the pool itself, but I would strongly advise future customers to independently verify pricing and seek multiple quotes for any external works. In my experience, the recommended contractors were not cost-competitive, and Factory Pools did not take responsibility for the outcome.

Proceed with caution and do your own due diligence.

very narrow access would be ok (~800mm), but closer to the dig day the site team said it would be very difficult and likely take longer than estimated. We were lucky our neighbours allowed us to access through their garage which meant the dig could be completed in a day. The pool went in the next day, and then it took a week and a bit to finish the install and backfilling. We had to leave our access open for a week and a bit to allow for the backfilling. Our chlorinator was oriented such that it would have been hard to open and maintain in future, however this was rectified as soon as we raised it. Overall very happy with our experience.

The whole process of getting our pool was excellent, the salesman was great, the whole installation team was absolutely amazing, the plumbers, electricians and the excavation man were all fantastic, the handover guy was very good and all the head office staff were very professional and helpful. Just had the Stradbroke pool installed by factory pools O’Connor, and had a great experience from quote to handover, glad there are still companies that provide genuinely good quality service. The whole process was seamless, communication was fantastic, and they took care with the install and my new house even with narrow 900mm side access. Very happy and would recommend. Show reply

Terribly unorganised – I could not recommend against factory pools enough. Delivered all our pool equipment to the wrong address. Side of the pool wasn't compacted enough and started to warp. Lost 2x $5000 payments to which I had to prove with a bank statement I had made them. Overcharged me $1900 for sand removal and had mountains left over around the pool which I had… Read more

The "Site inspector" was non existent and never on-site when the team came across issues which was often. 1 and a half years later they came back chasing more money for works they never completed which I explained to them in email and them got no responses from so they sent a debt collector to receive the money. Terribly unorganised company, very unprofessional, customer service is non existent. Please I recommend you look for another pool company befor even considering this horrible company.

nothing but trouble – from the inadequacy site preparations to the sales person lacking technical ability to plan an install, we are now three years in and will need to refurbish our shell. we have coping pavers loose and a skimmer box housing delivered but never installed , we were spec'ed the wrong heater , pump and chlorination unit. after at least 8 breakdowns… Read more

with the chlorination unit the supplier replaced it with the unit we should have been supplied with. we at least had the initiative to request a heater 3 sizes bigger and its still barely enough. originally the manager came to our house and agreed the pool shell was never prepared properly before delivery and replaced our pump, we thought we were getting somewhere and then he left the company and FP then lost interest in doing anything for us. there was red parts of the pool mold left on the shell and some guy came out and smashed them off with a broom stick and chipped the gel coat off , they said they would come back and fix but three years later we have given up seeing them. the pool has lumps through the floor as the installer did not level the floor properly , FP says this in normal. we told them our daughter has cerebral palsy and wanted to use the pool for therapy and wanted the pool to be 30-32deg and after the shell went in they gave us the warranty document outlining above 28deg would void the warranty, we would have gotten a swim spa if we knew. now the gel coat has dropped off and we have nowhere to turn to. SPASA are useless and when FP say its normal to have lumps in the pool floor and SPASA agrees , no one at SPASA would admit to saying it or do anything about FP. its a good example of how and industry should never be self regulated. SPASA is just a body to collect money from its members and protect them when things go bad. we withheld the last payment until they would come and repair the shell , we haven seen them since after multiple emails they would come and fix. do yourself a favor and choose a proper pool company and demand engineered site preparations. there is so many other things that have gone wrong for us with FP we could write a novel.

If you want to waste thousands of dollars, go with Factory Pools – By far the worst experience, we had a pool put in August 22, once they took the deposit we heard nothing from them, chasing them up the whole way. Instal went ok, but since the pool has been in we have had issue after issue, $45k later and I wish we never got a pool. They put 19 bags of magnesium salt in the pool which in turn raises our calcium… Read more

levels above 1000 when they want around 350. This instantly caused scaling on the pool walls, only way to reduce the levels, is to empty the pool and start again, being fibreglass this isn’t that easy unless I then want my pool to collapse in. We had to pump water out while filling with fresh water to help reduce the levels, factory pools were no help. We now have the gel coating coming away which is bleaching the wall, they have voided the warranty due to the levels but we are constantly battling them since they stuffed the levels up from install. Great customer service from the team. They were in communication along the way and letting us know what to expect, always happy to answer any questions and the install team were helpful in getting the dig and pool in within a certain time frame due to needing rear neighbours yard access. Show details ·  1
