Watch out for dishonest sales people
Terrible service, I have had to chase [name removed] I don’t know how many times just for a stupid kettle.
She claimed my ‘sale’ from an email query, so that she gets the commission and that nobody else could deal with me, then ignored messages and emails, and worst of all, told lies.
I've had to chase literally her the whole way. I had to phone three times, then email again just to place the order. Because nobody else was allowed to 'take her sale'. Really, I should have realised then what I was in for. Being a customer shouldn't be hard ...work. If the small sale of a ($250) kettle isn't worth your time, let someone else take it, don't hoover up the online contacts. She finally phoned me last week to say it is being sent. Then I find out today, after waiting yet another week before chasing her AGAIN, that it was actually only sent an hour ago. It's now been over a month since I paid for it and it's still not here. She initially said it would be around 10 days. I can’t speak for anyone else there, but I definitely would never deal with her again. She is dishonest and I definitely do not recommend buying anything through her.
Endeavoured to order 2 aircon units. Order placed online and money , $4000, promptly deducted. A few days later I was notified that one of them is on backorder and should be available in 3 weeks. ok. At the time called in to verify as I haven't heard back. Got the “we'll call you back“. Didn't happen... had to chase to be told there would be further delays. More than a month after the order I asked for a refund of the money and was advised it will take a couple of days. Nothing happened... further chasing ensued and I got a message almost 2 wee...ks later telling me that the process was initiated but may take another 5 to 10 days to complete. That's in the year 2020. We'll see... In short, shocking conduct, couldn't care less and happy to sit on your money without delivering anything, deliberately delaying the reimbursement process.
Incorrectly installed air conditioner. Warranty obligations ignored.
Daikon A/C unit was incorrectly installed in my bedroom. Camberwell Electrics put every obstacle in my way and would not honour the warranty. Had the unit repaired privately, cost $1,000.

Air Conditioning - these guys know what they are doing
Years ago when I called for 3 quotes to air-condition a commercial property, Camberwell Electrics were marginally more expensive on their quote. It prompted me to do a heat load calculation of my own (I am a chemical engineer).
Camberwell Electrics were the only supplier to quote on a solution that would have properly air-conditioned my building. When I approached the other 2 suppliers, they were both aware that their solution was undersized, but wanted to get my business with a low quote. It seems that it is common practice in the business to...win a job by quoting on a system that is undersized. Not surprisingly Camberwell Electrics got my business and have continued to have my custom ever since. All my properties have very happy tenants because the air-conditioning system is properly sized and installed professionally. If you want to get a properly sized system that does the job, go to Camberwell Electrics.
We had a Daikin reverse cycle air installed. Boris's hand-delivered it to our home. Rory and Don installed it. We are very happy with the service and professionalism of the team. Boris went out of his way to ensure we were happy (and he has a great sense of humour!) Rory and Don are good lads.
Waste of a trip
After seeing multiple adverts on Facebook for split systems on sale, clearance items etc.. we decided to do the hour and a half drive to go and have a look, after not getting any proper answers via Messenger. Got there to find a salesman, Richard, who spent 10 to 15 minutes just waffling about things that we really weren't interested in and not answering our direct question, which was how much a certain size unit was. We couldn't cope and left!
Prompt and Knowledgeable Service.
Great service, right from the moment that Richard started his explanation of my requirements. Split system Aircon broke down on a Tuesday and I had an exact Daikin replacement at my home 40 hours later. This is my 3rd major purchase from Camberwell Electrics and always happy to return. It helps if you know what you need in the first place. Thanks again Richard and Hans.
Worst service in my 50 years of homelife.
This store's maintenance/repair service suffers badly from the "British Rail Syndrome" - ie. one can't complain about their service because there isn't any!
However, they are discourteous, extremely expensive and time wasting. Don't let them waste yours, go straight to the manufacturer's service department and get professional care. You have been warned!
Worst customer service I’ve experienced.
We engaged Camberwell Electrics to supply and install 3 split system air conditioners. I should have known, from the time the sales person cancelled the first quote (after the time he should have arrived) and arrived late to the second quote, that things weren’t going to go well. After attending our property on the day of installation, the installers said they couldn’t do the job. I waited 4 days for another ‘senior’ installer to call me to come and look at the job. The call only came after I called Camberwell Electrics to advise I wanted a ref...und of my 70% deposit of $4800. I then spent the next three weeks trying to get my money refunded, which only occurred after visiting the store to confront the owner. Extremely poor communication and zero customer focus.

Air Conditioning: Excellent product, Installation and Service
This was the second quote I received. I found Camberwell Electrics after searching the internet and was impressed with both the store and the staff. The salesman and was extremely helpful and the follow up was exceptional. The installers were efficient and thoughtful. My Air Conditioning has been working most effectively throughout the current heatwave. I will go back to Camberwell Electrics for all future electrical purchases. Jane, Mount Eliza

Avoid at all costs/non existent after sales service
I would give zero stars if I could. Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever received. We purchased an air-conditioning unit back in December. Several installers refused to install it as it was too large for the property and would void the warranty (being against Australian Standards). We contacted [name removed] to explain this and try and organise an alternative unit, emphasising that we were short on time and needed to turn it around quickly. He said he was flat out busy and to call back in a week. When I said this was unacceptable ...and we would just like a refund, the excuses and the delaying tactics started (even though under consumer law we are entitled to a refund as were recommended a unit which was not fit for purpose). It has now been 4 weeks since we requested a refund and the company refuses to respond to our emails and when we ring, the salesperson is not available and never returns the messages we leave. We have lodged complaints with both Consumer Affairs Victoria and the ACCC and are now having to go down the path of having our credit card company reverse the transaction. Avoid this company at all costs, they will happily take your money but after sales service and support is non existent, they will just avoid you like the plague.

I purchased a dishwasher and a cooker last year with excellent guidance from sales assistant Kym Ryan and couldn’t be happier. I realised just before Xmas I needed to purchase another shelf for the oven…and I didn’t have time to order one from Smeg. Kym helped me find an extra shelf quickly with just days to spare. Saved the day and the Christmas dinner. Thank you Kym! Camberwell Electrics has been in Hartwell/Camberwell as long as I can remember...I'll return for the next big purchase.
The salesman misrepresented the place of manufacture of my Bosch dishwasher as Germany - it is actually Turkey.
They delivered a badly scratched dishwasher but as I didn't see the scratches until after installation, according to the fine print I have no redress. On top of all this the receptionist was insolent in her manner towards me. Now find I need a new washing machine. Guess where I won't be going.
Appalling customer/pre-sale service
It took me 2 walk-ins and about 6 calls over a week just to organise someone to do a quote on A/C installation. The "Take it" or "Leave it" kind of attitude won't get them too far. If their attitude and service is this bad before sale, one could only imagine how great their service will be post-sale!! I am happy that I didn't buy any electrical appliance from this store.
