hesitation in providing updated quotes when I decided to take more household goods than I had first anticipated.

This was definitely not my experience when liaising with one of the other nationwide companies. Despite claiming to have over one hundred years experience in the business, I was left in no doubt that requesting clarification and an updated quote was an imposition.

I was moving from a much loved family home which my late husband and I built 46 years ago. It was a huge challenge, both physically and emotionally, and Chess Moving lived up to its promise to provide helpful and friendly service. From the time of arriving at my Canberra home for uplift on 31 May, storage for three months and delivery to new apartment in Brisbane today I have found the experience to be stress free.

I decided to take time out to write this review, a short time after the staff left, having neatly stacked boxes in areas identified by me. The boxes can wait until after I give the staff the positive feedback they well deserve.

Chess Moving Queanbeyan - Fantastic!!! – Mitch, Matt and Andrew worked their butts off for 7 hours without even a hint of complaint while it rained all day, they had a 3 story townhouse with small staircases to contend with, oversized and odd furniture and items plus some very heavy boxes. Highly recommend these guys - moving house is never a delightful experience and am so glad we found these guys that just got in and did it with us running around directing what goes where! It was a big day - could not have done this without Chess.

Friendly, efficient, respectful and polite – We had a very large (5 containers) across-town move. The team, ably led by Ian, was exceptional. Professional, polite, efficient. Smooth and easy – 2 bed 2 bath property, moving within Canberra. Removalists were prompt, professional, and polite, and a pleasure to interact with. One tv set damaged and subsequently written off though. Would still use Chess again.

Professional removalists – Chess moved our home contents from Perth to Canberra including temporary storage. We had a very positive experience in both WA & ACT. Both the removalists & admin staff were professional & efficient. Would choose Chess again. My only suggestion for improvement is to have the item stickers easier to remove.

Never again! – I wouldn't recommend this mover unless you are transporting items that aren't breakable or you don't mind your items getting damaged. Quick to take your premiums but aren't the best at honouring claims despite legally accepting your stipulated values (base on their own advice to do this). whole experience caused me too much hassle, a lot of stress and soured it for me. All is fine if nothing breaks, but do your homework and search for a more ethical removalist who has a much better and consistent insurance handling track record for their customers if damages occur. Or take out your own separate insurance!

The best movers! – We had to move a house worth of furniture interstate in a short period of time. Despite the difficult design of the new house, everything was quickly unpacked with no fuss. Chess were amazing to deal with from the first phone call to the last box unloaded. They came when the said they would, took great care with our possessions and any questions were answered quickly. Complex move, some packing and storage – We moved most of a 4 bed house into a nearby 3 bed apartment, a chess storage container and we left some things in the house. Their good equipment made it easier to navigate both a steep driveway at the house and “over the garden” access to the apartment. Some minor damage done to the house though which was disappointing.

The removals team are amazing – Short distance (600 metres). The move involved mainly large furniture items and white goods. It was 6 hours of solid effort and work by the removals team. When packing was completed they were joined by two others and the four of them wasted no time in loading the truck. On arrival at our new address they soon had the goods unloaded and were prepared to open whatever cartons we chose. And Jack returned a few days later and took away all the empty cartons. In all, one of the best moves we've ever had, and we've now had 22 of them.

Awesome and effortless – Chess Removalists did a fantastic and seamless job in moving me between houses in Canberra. They arrived on time and were very careful in moving some very delicate furniture.
