The issues that I then endured over the next few months were as follows. Delivery Dates that were promised were blown out by weeks. Items were delivered to random addresses mixed in with other people's belongings, Multiple items went missing and have never been recovered. Many emails and phone calls that were promised and never returned. Mishandled inventory resulting in unrecoverable loss of items, Misinformation of delivery details, damage to multiple items. The amount of incompetence I endured from this organisation was out of this world. Do yourself a massive favour and go elsewhere, even if it costs a few more dollars. Please note I do not know if the items that vanished into thin air happened between Perth and Brisbane or Brisbane to Cairns.

Helpful & friendly team that treat you like a person !! – Moving our items from one side of the country to the other side took several phone calls and emails, but fortunately for me Natalie had so much patience and managed to sort out any problems smoothly. delivering our items were very friendly and everything was placed exactly where we wanted. Unfortunately one of my casserole dishes was broken (not bad considering there were approx 40 boxes of items) which I reported to the Chess Moving team as I had also taken out the recommended insurance cover. The team at Chess were very apologetic and offered me a gift card to replace the casserole dish (plus a little extra) as way of compensation which was greatly appreciated. hard to professionally pack our fragile items and loaded the containers finishing on the 3rd late in the afternoon. We received our containers ahead of the schedule date in Brisbane and again the Brisbane team was amazing. The vast majority of our fragile items arrived intact with the exception of one box that dropped during the unloading. We claimed the insurance for a suspended lamp and received a full refund. We also used Chess for our car transport from WA to Brisbane and again, the car arrived in perfect condition and we received it one week ahead of schedule. I would not recommend this moving company to anyone. We had a 4 bedroom house move from Perth to UK. Our belongings were either not wrapped adequately within the shipping boxes or not wrapped at all. Several items were damaged, our clothes, bedding, exercise mat and even cycle helmets were used to pad out the boxes instead of the packers using the… Read more

packaging we had paid for. Items were forced into boxes allowing for misshape, scratches and breakages. If you want your precious belongings delivered damaged and happy to pay for it then go ahead and use Chess Moving.

big move from our large home. We required storage for our belongings in Melbourne until we purchased a home to move in to. I can say that dealing with Derek in Perth we cannot fault. He kept us updated on everything and was very approachable. Everything arrived on time in fact our cars were early so that was a big plus. But that's where it ends. We had Chess arrange packer's and all I can say is that when we finally unpacked we were appalled at the careless way our things were packed. The excellent ladies who unpacked our boxes were shocked with the haphazard, careless way a lot of things were wrapped and.boxed. I had chrytal bowls belonging to my Grandmother smashed. These were probably close to 100years old, a piece of my mother's history destroyed....how do you put a price on that? A large handmade porcelain floral table centre piece, a gift from my family 27 years ago was wrapped in butchers paper just plonked in a box with other things on top of it...damaged of course. According to the unpacking team it should have been bubble wrapped and placed in a box on it's own. A precious statuette broken into pieces, a turntable packed on it's side...damaged, a hall/console table..leg broken off, a pottery platter made for me by my now deceased brother in law...chipped...irreplaceable, a large sports memorabilia picture didn't even turn up, a pair of bedside table lamps didn't turn up, one of a pair of glassblown swans, a 21st present from dear friends missing..I'm now in my 60s, this can never be replaced and after a month of being in our home we're still discovering things that didn't make it. Small things, but none the less important to us. The packing was so random as well, no rhyme or reason to where some things turned up. Now after paying $3000 for insurance we are in for a battle to claim for anything because they want receipts....again how can you put a price on the loss and damage of precious family heirlooms, and other possessions acquired many years ago. So the insurance company wins again. A very unpleasant experience

To be honest if I could give zero stars I would – I rang chess removal’s to help do our house. I had to pay $880 upfront for 4 hours which was no problems. The lady I dealt with was absolutely lovely! Firstly the truck and 2 guys were 2 hours late again that wasn’t a problem! We lived in a 2 story house which I made clear aswell but had majority things brought down stairs all was left up there was a bed base and mattress and a set of draws. The guy huffed about it and made me and my mother very upset and uncomfortable. I was heavily pregnant literally had my baby 2 weeks after the move and my mum is a 65 year old lady. They smashed out a load within a hour and half and then basically said they ain’t getting it all on the one load. When we turned around and said we have actually paid for 4 hours upfront and I made clear it will most definitely be 2 loads. The young guy didn’t say boo but the older guy was so very rude arrogant and was not pleasant at all and basically huffed and puffed about everything which upset me and my mum. They finally came back to do 2nd load which wasn’t much at all and basically refused to take our pot plants as it messes their truck! Which we had to the next day hire a trailer and got a couple friends to help move them! 880$ is a lot of money and they were quite expensive compared to other quotes but they were available for when we needed and thought surely we will have some nice guys! Definitely was not the case and I would not recommend them to anyone. Plus they had job done within 3 and half hours plus there half hour travel time back to hard so really shouldn’t of been and complaining.

Accurate estimate of removal operation including volume, time, labour and equipment required – Chess professionally managed our request to uplift our self-packed and stored household goods from within our beach house, transport 50Km, unload and place into 5 bedroom 2 storey modern home. The move was executed by 3 men with 2 trucks in a very courteous manner. All our expectations were achieved. We wish to recommend Chess to persons considering household removalist contractors.

First Class – Moved from a single storey 4 x 2 to a 3 storey 7 x 7. Albeit not far from original home the move commenced slightly earlier and consequently finished earlier. From start to finish Chess was first class. Highly recommend.

Third time not so lucky – From a two storey to a single storey house less than 30 minutes away. It was my third shift using used Chess in 5 years, but my last - the guy who packed the truck didn't seem as careful as previous ones, and my stuff ended up with too much serious damage (and not just scratches and dents). (the fridge kept blowing the fuse anyway so also had major mechanical damage); an expensive two seater jarrah lounge had a leg broken off; a tasmanian oak dresser had the top end seriously dented. After the first two shifts with no damage, I didn't bother with insurance - but ended up with roughly $10k worth of goods wrecked. It also took much longer to load and unload (including having to down tools while one stopped to pray at sunset - which wouldn't have been necessary if they hadn't taken so long).

Great customer service. Safe, honest, reliable – Motor vehicle and large boxes of personal effects. The transportation services (x3 over the last 3 years) have all been from Western Australia to the East Coast of Australia. The moves were all done as per the contracted dates and within schedule.

Excellent customer service – Exceptional service! Being seasoned movers, this was one of best moving experiences. So pleased we chose Chess.
