Negative – You can tell the quality of their merchandise by the "no return policy" Bought an item, was not able to put it together. Screws did not line up. Looking for prices I'd frustrating.
This place is horrible – I will actually give them no stars Worst place if you want to get a refund or exchange Stupid policy they have you can only return it at the store you got it from and it is not a refund it is exchange. I had receipts ready for exchange but I couldn’t as I didn’t get it from that location store. Then I had spend more money on what i actually… Read more
wanted to exchange for. They have poor service too as none if them know how to do anything unless the manager can do it for them. They just want more of your money. Ridiculous place to shop with stupid return policy. Never shopping there and telling others not too as well. Never again as they are big company they just want your money.
Price conversion chart is misleading – There is a Yen to Australian dollar conversion chart, only it is false. For example 100 yen on the chart is $3.30 The conversion using a random bank website is at worst ¥1 = $0.98 Australian Dollars (AUD). ¥1200 is not $26 AUD, its $11.97(just under half). This is just another example of excessive pricing in Australian shops aka the Australia Tax. Checkout operator also tried to up-sell me some random product. I said no thanks, he kept going. Expired snack – I bought a snack on 13/10/2021, when I started eating, i realised that the snack tastes weird. Then I found out the snack was expired nearly 2 weeks. I went back to the shop to talk to the staff. They just redound me without any words of apology. I checked the rests of the same snack, and they were all expired. I told the staff that all of them… Read more
are expired. However, the staff didn’t care about it and just kept continuing what they were doing before.
Can't Get Enough – I love Daiso and I always have. I love that they have pretty much everything you could ask for, from food and drinks to socks and screwdrivers. The quality can be a little sub par but for most things in the store being under $4, why complain? The aisles are labelled well, each section of each aisle is even labelled. Splendid - I shop there a lot… Read more
and will continue! The staff are always nice too. Attached is a photo of a screwdriver gadget I bought.
Best price cute succulent plant pots – Daiso has the best price plant pots. I bought a bonsai plant pot a while ago, and went back to buy another plant pot this week. It's only $2.80 each as opposed to $20 per pot you would find else where. It does the purpose. Great value great product! Show details

terrible attitude of staff – My wife went to Daiso last month and tried to buy a bottle of tea which is on sale. My wife couldn't see the expiry date and so she asked one of the sales ( she is a Japanese) about the expiry date. The sales said something in a low voice and my wife actually couldn't hear it. Then the sales just scanned the products without confirming with my… Read more
wife if she is happy with the expiry or not. My wife immediately found that the bottle of tea is expired and she asked for refund right away at the counter (she never left the counter). The sales told her food cannot be refunded. My wife argued with her that she didn't hear the product is expired and we never left the store after the purchase so we should get the refund. The sales said 'are you saying this is my fault?' in a higher tone and voice. Certainly this is her fault as she spoke in a very soft and low voice that the customer can't hear it but argued with my wife in a higher voice. The attitude is just rude. Finally she said this is an exception we can get the refund but we are very angry with her attitude. We wanted to see the manager the week after the incident but we just didn't have the time. We emailed the Daiso twice about the complaint but no one replied to us. We can't see any customer service with Daiso and are very disappointed by the way they handle the incident. They should reply to any complaint or feedback and also make sure the customer understand the product is expired before they sell it.
Love a visit to Daiso – I do a food supply trip to Cairns every couple weeks, and always try to include a visit to Daiso. They have quality variations on items that are sometimes hard to find (in regional areas), like travel bottles and jars, reasonable quality cheap magnifying specs, extra long hand towels, various handy storage items, and a host of other handy stuff. … Read more
They're quick and efficient, and I can always find someone if I need help.
My one and only negative is their eternal spruiking of the imported Philippine "dried mango". I drive through kilometers of "real mangoes" every time I go to the Daiso store. Most back yards in Cairns have a mango tree, and a multitude of mango orchards are within an easy drive. Cairns and Far North Queensland is mango country, and to be continually prompted to buy this awful mango product, full of chemicals, I find very offensive. I also feel that tourists wanting to sample mango will be disappointed, and talking up this questionable product is the wrong thing to be doing in a place like Cairns.
A quirky, fun place to shop – I love Daiso - I've been a regular there for about three years now. It's a cheap place that doesn't look or feel cheap, with an amazing range (somewhat dependent on the size of the store - some are huge, others tiny... but they manage to pack in quite a lot either way). I've bought a few bits and pieces that weren't so great (as you'd expect for… Read more
the price tag), but most of them were excellent quality. They have some rather unusual Japanese products sometimes... it's just fun to browse and see what you come across - illuminated ear picks, anyone?! I especially love the stationery. If you have a tween daughter who's into Smiggle, this is the place to stock up without the big price tag. Unfortunately not everything is $2.80 anymore - most items still are, but some of the bigger things can cost up to $6.80 now.
Some of the snacks and drinks we've tried have been great too. Make sure you buy plenty if you find something you like - a lot of things will only be stocked for a short time before they move on to something else.
The staff are always friendly and helpful. If you like trying new stuff or just want to feel like you're in Japan for a little while, I thoroughly recommend Daiso.

Amazing store unbeatable value – The best store for anything household, especially for organising apartment living. Unbelievable prices. Many items are made in Japan so quality is good! I hope more people support this amazing store so we can continue to get their supplies. Unfortunately they’re not available online. They have sooooo many products you just have to visit the shop to browse. Show details
Very helpful and warm staff member – Daiso at Loganholme Hyperdome: served by Carmel. An extremely helpful, warm, friendly and genuine staff member who was very responsive to customer service. There are very far and few staff members who have this mature and genuine approach to customers. Well done to the stores giving such interesting, unique and functional items to purchase and Carmel for your very welcoming and genuine care for customers. Show details
Fantastic travel products! – Daiso Doncaster offers fantastic value for its travel products. I bought a money belt the perfect size for a passport and cash and it was fantastic on a holiday abroad, comfortable under clothes but easy enough to access if you needed to! Also a fantastic range of reusable travel bottles, turns out much cheaper and less wasteful than buying small bottles of the product at the supermarket. Show details

Terrible customer service – Bourke st Melbourne 3004 store - Would not offer refunds for any of the products or give me a gift voucher in lieu of this. You lost a customer because of the absurdity and you are such a big chain. Show details
Poor quality wired earphone – Bought one recently at our local store while shopping, broke after only 1 use. Went back straight to the store and was told faulty product and did get replaced. Was not impressed with the quality. Show details
Disgraceful Staff – I bought a tape from Daiso store in Chatswood Sydney. When I opened I saw that it was not a tape and it was only a plastic wrap. They had put a wrong label on it. When I asked the store to change it they didn't. They said sorry only. It was very disgraceful to talk with people with no customer skills and repeat words like "Oh..sorry", "Oh...we… Read more
dont have", "Oh...I dont know". "Oh...no we cant do". Usually people with low skills takes these kind of jobs. Japanese have become very abusive with the lack of moral values. If you look at JAV (adult movie), 78% of Japanese have played in these kind of disgraceful movies. We can't expect much from such culture. Of course there is a lack of training and customer service. The staff are an absolute failure and rude. Just bunch of teens getting pocket money there with lack of customer service experience. Both the store and the staff are the embodiment of ignominy in a society.

bad customer service – visit Daiso shop at Myer plaza on Queen Street Mall, Brisbane this afternoon and the customer service is such a big dissapoinment. Staffs was extremely rude and ignore me all the time. Show details
Coronavirus blunders – Daiso is setting the wrong example in this coronavirus crisis. I wanted to buy a product of $3.80, but you can’t pay by card under $5.60. Cash shouldn’t be used in these times, so there’s no alternative. Very bad customer service. Shame on you. Show details
Customer Service – Terribly disappointed by the service which is as cheap as the products. Went there only because was in a crunch but now never more. They literally threw us out of the shop at closing time which was 5.00 pm.
refund/return policy – Purchased at the Box Hill store. Asked for an exchange for another style and was refused due to item as "personal care". When is gloves considered "personal care" and not "clothing"?
No bags – I’ve just returned from japan and visited some Daiso shops whilst there. They put your items into plastic bags there .. why can’t they do that here !
I love this store! – Visiting Daiso is perfect for fun little gifts for family, friends and work colleagues. I tend to lose track of time in there as it is such a treasure trove of quirky little goodies at a reasonable price!

Fun and cheap variety store – I love that we have so many daiso stores in Australia now! What I like: kitchen items, storage and organisers, makeup brush cleaner, stationery and gift wrap items. Pretty much everything at $2.80. even their makeup items can be great - I have been using an eyebrow pencil I bought from Daiso and it beats my more expensive one!
Amazing – amazing store. i love japan and its great that they have have a japanese store her in Australia! i love the food and stationary! just wish there was a closer daiso near me
I Love Daiso!!!! – So glad they are coming to Adelaide Myer Centre, but upset that the shop looks like it will be on the smaller side - would have been happier if they'd taken over the old Spotlight shop. I usually do my Daiso shopping in Sydney, as no-one ever told me there was one at Hollywood Plaza (the 'bad' side of town, and hubby has said he wouldn't like me… Read more
going there without him, anyway -awwwww! <3)
I've been to the Harajuku store in Tokyo, as well, and just love everything about it.
Not everything is a good buy, and like any shop, you have to be discerning and judicious in your purchasing. All the things I've bought from there have been really good, except two things. That's amazing out of the hundreds of things I've bought over the years.
The wash bags are AMAZING!
Don't be a waster, and buy things that will get good use - then you'll love Daiso.
rude staff – I love Daiso and love their product but recently I had a very bad experience. I went to Daiso in Melbourne QV mall. I started looking at the umbrella, I opened one to check it and the lady at the cash counter while making bill for other customer yelled at me "ma'am ma'am you don't open the umbrella" everyone in the area started looking at me.… Read more
Feeling disgusted I folded back the umbrella to which she said rudely would you mind giving it to me because I have to fold it properly again. What a shame!!! I am a regular Daiso customer and did not like the attention that was given to me for all the bad reasons.
Hit & Miss at $2.80 – My wife and I visited the Daiso store at Sunnybank Hills Shopping Centre, Brisbane, on Wednesday 7 Sep 2016. We bought 3 greeting cards which were Australian made (Biscay brand). These were reasonably priced at $2.80 each - though some Biscay greeting cards may be bought for $2.00 each at Australia Post shops. Also bought a tube roller/squeezer… Read more
for $2.80 and a tube of Japanese wasabi also for $2.80.
At the checkout, the salesgirl tried to persuade us to buy a garish reusable shopping bag which we declined. As she was scanning the items, she asked if I would pick up a packet of dried mangoes slices that was displayed at the check-out counter. I assumed that this was perhaps a free bonus, but to my dismay she scanned the packet and added $2.80 onto our bill.
When we got home, we noticed that the wasabi had an expiry date of Oct 2016 (less than a month to go)! The tube roller/squeezer, made in China, was flimsy and of inferior plastic. The dried mango slices were from the Philippines - somewhat chewy and not flavoursome. We could have bought better tasting preserved mangoes from the Asian grocery shops at better prices.
Although Dasio is meant to be a Japanese store, most of the stuff on the shelves were made in China, Thailand and elsewhere in Asia. To our amusement, a packet of candies on display had "Maid in Japan" as its origin. The store seemed cheapish and rather plebian. In our opinion, places like The Reject Shop and Aldi offer better quality and value.
Love DAISO! – Daiso is such a fun place to shop at. You can find almost everything in there, from kitchen accessories to gardening products. I always forget the time when I am browsing through the aisles. It used to be $2.80 for each item but now some bigger items can cost up to $6.80. Still, it's cheaper compared to other store. mechanical ice cream scoop from Daiso for only $3.80. Elsewhere, it would've cost me three times or more. So yes, go to Daiso to find what you need to buy before going somewhere else.
One thing I don't like is the aisle is quite narrow. So it is difficult to shop when you bring a stroller with you. It's best to go there alone because you want to enjoy browsing and not feel rushed.
HAPPY shopping
Socks sucks. Keeps slipping inside my shoes – I was excited to learn that Daiso is a Japanese store. My friend who visits Japan regularly swears by the really good quality of the socks sold in the vending machines there. YES, socks in vending machines :-). I wanted to buy socks that will stretch my big toe to be straight (I gave bunion). I've bought a few items here. A lot of good ones BUT … Read more
I find socks are really bad. I ended up tossing them in the bin after 1 use. They keep falling off. I haven't even left my place & it's already fallen off. Frustrating. PLS Daiso, bring in good quality socks.
Easy to forget time when looking through this store – My bullet point summary: massive range of products some weird stuff I haven't seed elsewhere some competitively priced - some not. new pricing policy means some stuff cost more than $2.80 - not sure if that is OK or not. $2.80 micro screw drivers were crap, breaking easily. $2.80 extendable pointer for presentations - great value. obviously… Read more
could get better pricing via ebay - but would miss the experience to view products very uniquely Japanese.
$2.80 dog dresses - sizes were a bit variable - 2 of 3 fit OK - 1 was too small; all were 'M' size.
Would I still visit - YEP!
Just like being in Japan! – I hadn't realised this store was now operating in Aus until I stumbled across them in Sydney. In Japan it's 100 Yen (about $1) for each item so at $2.80 in Aus it's a little more expensive, but still better value than other shops offer. You can buy all sorts of household items from cleaning supplies to decorative items to sweets and cosmetics and… Read more
more. It's really worth a long browse around as there will be products you have never seen before. Some items are not great once you try them out, but others are just fantastic. I just wish there was one closer to my home location. When I was there the customer service was very good and efficient.
