7 years kaput! – Coffee is great. Delonghi sent me a little something to add to the milk frother tube attached to the milk canister so my milk is hotter. I loved it. It lasted about 7 years. Updated: Still disappointed. Maybe too because I loved it too much! Delonghi did reach out and offered me a discount to purchase a new one. I ended up going to another service centre to get it repaired. Cost around $600.00. My brother has the same one and made double the amount of coffees as mine and still going great. He also had his longer than mine. Delonghi people did reach out.

Updated 2023 Now 2 years later, there seems to be quite a bit of moisture build up inside. I will take it in for another repair. I don’t just want to buy a new because I really love the way this machine makes coffee.

Turns out the moisture build up was just loose seals. All fixed up and still going.

I really love my coffee machine. Don’t want another one.

Long term review – I have had my machine for quite awhile, I checked statistics and as of last night it has made 8764 cups of coffee!! Now I do think it counts shots (that is double shot = 2) - regardless thats a lot of coffee for a domestic machine!! infuser at least once per week, further learn to perform basic self maintenance once every month or so and you will get trouble free operation forever and a day. -- weekly maintenance is warm water bath, monthly I soak in warm soapy water, clean off all debris and old lube, check o rings and re lube the whole lot - takes 30 minutes once per month - coffee tastes perfect after!

I see a lot of people whine on here that their machine is rubbish, faulty etc - what it always is, user poor maintenance and failure to read the manual. Quick check on these machines, after a weekly soak of infuser, check that the plunger moves up and down easy enough. Over time the O rings swell and get encrusted with coffee and oils.. to replace its cheap $10-20 for a 3 ring kit, lube them up off you go.

Further, if something goes wrong most parts are easy enough to obtain (I dropped my water holder and bought new OEM for $40 shipped!). My old man has had a magnifica since about 2003 and its still going, mostly just replaced a few o-rings and re-lubed! Anyway, if you don't want maintenance perhaps get yourself a 1 group machine and coffee grinder as the bean to cup machines will all need maintenance even though your salesperson at whichever store you visit wont mention it to you as to scare you off.. Just remember when these pistons size, it makes the gears work extra hard either damaging them or burning out the motor and electronics... So easy to prevent...

So go in with your eyes open and enjoy good coffee every day! In my case lets say even at $1 per shot, I've got my moneys worth. Reason I put this review up is I notice all these people complain and mention issues which are symptoms of improper care!

Update on 21/04/2016. Brought the machine back to the store. After the device inspected I was told that replacement would be delivered to my place. What a great customer service!!! 5 stars to Harvey Norman. Looking forward to leaving real review on the machine after I receive the replacement.

Update on 25/04/2016. The replacement arrived on 22/04. We've been using the machine for 3 days now. So far so good and there are pros and cons:

Pros: machine design, A energy, great dense frothed milk; smooth tasty chocolate, customizable (6 profiles for everyone needs and preferences), detailed instruction/guidelines on DVD;

Cons: lukewarm coffee at MAX temperature; a bit noisy.

I have been talking to others automated coffee machine owners and I think that lukewarm coffee is a common issue across the automated coffee machines. However there are few tips and workarounds to make it warmer: preheat cups, preheat milk, microwave coffee to desired temperature.

All in all I would recommend it as it's a great looking machine making great tasty chocolate and coffee. For the hot coffee lovers I would recommend to look forward to manual coffee machines.

Cleaning is a breeze simple and straight forward. But when you descale it takes ages to remove the descaler aftertaste. It is also very narrow and aesthetics aren't that bad.

I have one small issue which turned out to be a big issue. The grooves on the milk jug turning knob aka dial have worn, seems like cheap plastics, they recommend you to clean after each single use. You would think you can find that spare easily as the machine isn't that old. No. Having called all the recommended centres and they advised that to manufacturer have stopped manufacturing the knob, only option is to buy the whole milk jug which I don't want to. Called delonghi, they said they don't sell spares. It has made my machine unusable else I make hot chocolate or non milk coffee. Customer service was next to nil, looks like after forking couple of thousand dollars, we have no support. Even checked amazon us, UK, Italy and Germany no luck, with no avail on eBay worldwide too. Now thinking would have kept my capsule machine

I love coffee – We didn't need a new coffee machine, but when we came across this one we just needed to upgrade. We love it, no regrets. We like that it is an all in one, it grinds and heats the milk all in the one process. We have needed to repair the brewer, as it was spilling out ground coffeed (inside of the machine) but it has been working fine since. We have made 1200 coffees :)  Show details

to use this machine more than a couple times a day. First time no milk, second time milk stops, third time error message “empty circuit” and the most recent problem we had was with the milk delivery, AGAIN. If it has to go back once more before December this year, they apparently class it as a “lemon”, which probably just means I will be entitled to another machine. I will never buy a Delonghi product again, for the price you pay, you expect a far more superior product and reliability than you get.

from such an expensive machine & I was absolutely disgusted and disappointed!

Eventually had it fixed and got rid of it very soon after the repairs were done.

So, I decided not to buy any DeLonghi products ever again.

Because of this awful experience I purchased a Breville Nespresso machine just recently. I missed having a coffee machine!

I’m not willing to risk having another DeLonghi product and have that die after warranty expires, especially when it is a pricy $3,000+ ticket item!

Long review but necessary I think.

Recommend? Definitely not.

has been a HUGE letdown. I have no time to be mucking around to get things repaired when they are so new. Am furious at myself for spending that kind of money fo something that is so rubbish and not fit for sale. I should have taken action over it sooner but have struggled to find time.

Great machine, "coffee not hot enough" answer – This is a great machine and delivers as promised! One thing to note, this machine requires a 220-240 power source. If you are plugging it into a regular power outlet in your home it will never heat up to desired temperatures. If you do not have an outlet in your kitchen that delivers this higher voltage, A step up/down transformer will do the trick. Hopefully this helps with those cold coffees, good luck!!!  Show details

Taking back to place of purchase today for refund. Look like reverting back to my pod machine until I find something else that makes the milk hot.

smart way of making HOT coffee – best coffee machine I've seen so far, for the ones that experienced the cold coffee problem, maybe your sales person didn't mention using the milk frothing CLEAN function beforehand will resolve this. this is a hidden trick not shown in menu. works every time. or use manual frothing also does the trick.  Show details

milk is not hot – i brought this coffee machine a month ago when i first got it the coffee was lukewarm so i rang up DeLonghi and they picked it up and took it back for a repair when i got it back it still made lukewarm coffee the hot chocolate is amazing but the milk is not hot and it makes cold coffee so i have to put the coffee in the microwave to heat it, if it made hot coffee then i would give it 5 stars very disappointed.  Show details

Steam/milk delivery failure already!! – Just past warranty period and now this 3000+ dollar machine won't deliver milk or steam. Spoke to Delonghi and they said call a service tech for a "service" it's broken and needs repair not a service. Can't believe that this "top of the range" machine has failed already. Very unhappy.

Very Disappointed with top of the range DeLonghi Primadonna Elite coffee machine – Purchased my coffee machine and picked it up from retail store May 13 2016. Milk will not heat up nor froth, settings are set at most froth and max heat. Water also accumulates in tray, dont know where it comes from as I always keep a container under spouts to save water when machine rinses when first turned on. RRP for this machine is $3599.00 so very very disappointed. Have contacted DeLonghi and am waiting for reply.

water filter. I complained to delonghi but they weren't interested because the warranty had passed and told me to get a technician to fix. It would cost around $500. For these reasons I would not recommend this $3000.00 machine. Not happy delonghi customer.

Perfect in every way – Perfect hot coffee with or without milk, amazing fully automatic machine. No problems at all making piping hot drinks straight out of the box. The Latte is superb and the Hot Chocolate is fantastic!!. I also love how simple to make single or double Espresso and add an extra shot to any milk drink.

pods a little expensive and you have to order pods online. Called to get our Primadonna fixed thinking it would cost heaps only to find that Delonghi not only did this under warranty but also had it picked up from country Victoria and returned. All done in a week. So happy we have our coffee machine up and running again. Delonghi customer service and support has been outstanding. If you have bought a machine and think the coffee is cold just give them a call they will send out grommets they work, just give it some time.

with a Long Black as it makes it strong enough - I like very strong coffee. Also, sometimes I like an Extra Long Coffee with a little milk from the frothing jug because it gives me double shot coffee. I am going to set up Profiles so that I can make coffee for guests quickly. Have used the hot chocolate function and it tastes great, according to my son-in-law. I did the Chocolate function twice so that it was as hot as my son-in-law likes it. The cleaning functions are great. LOVE the machine!

is an option to set it for extra hot however this is for the coffee only and not the milk as it will not warm up the milk, I have brought it back to the official repair center and they double checked and informed that this is a design fault of the machine and I should not use milk from the fridge or heat it up in the microwave first.......I cannot believe it. was fixed by taking the parts from a new machine. This is the last time I will ever buy Delonghi, their service ethic is non existent. Their agent in Melbourne Service Sphere was far too protective of Delonghi and made too many excuses.

The coffee machine is great when it works.

'General Alert' get used to it – This machine is simply unreliable, I have had the misfortune to own one of these for 2 months and I have not been able to make 3 consecutive cups of coffee with the 'General Alert' message. I've cleaned everything 5 times but the infuser simply gets stuck time and time again.
