Dennis Family Homes VIC, Werribee

I purchased an double storey ex-display Dennis family home when the lease period of the display and the original buyer of the house was over. I paid a premium for a dispay home even though I would have preferred building because I was worried about the quality of builds these days and the uncertainty of if the builder would go bust mid-build. Before purchase, I noticed a bunch of issues with the house almost entirely related to the upper floor (the ground floor was built to a good standard).

The upper floor had a LOT of squeaking floorboard areas, many of the doors would not close as the latch would not catch and the staircase would creak a LOT. They assured me these issues would be fixed by Dennis Family Homes. And sure enough, the next time I inspected the house the creaks and squeaks were not that prominent and I naively thought its would probably disappear completely once I got furniture on the floor areas.

BUT after moving into the property I found out soon enough all the fixes were shoddy temporary cheat fixes. The creaking staircase was temporarily hidden by wedging little plastic wedges in between gaps which probably increased the gaps leading to more louder and prominent creaks after a month of moving in. Still, the most UNBELIEVABLE and DANGEROUS patchjob they did was on the squeaking floorboards on the upper floor. They actually used a LOT of needle pins hammered through the carpet into the floorboard. I have children and I found my 3 year daughter with pins in her hand twice and I thank god that she didnt end up pricking her hand! I scoured the whole floor and pulled out about 15 pins and my vacuum cleaner pulled up another 6. @Dennis Family, Do you realise the danger you but my family through?!! Now the upper floor squeaks very evidently in a lot of places and I feel embarrassed when I have guests visiting and they notice it.

So much for paying top dollar to buy a display home. I would not recommend anybody buy/build double storey homes with Dennis Family. They dont seem to be able to do it right. Single Storeys are probably ok. I just hope I can get them to fix it before the takeover by Simmonds Homes is complete (Simmonds bought the Dennis Family Homes building business)

Extremely disappointing after sales service – I am writing this review to express my extreme disappointment with the post-handover service provided by Dennis Family Homes. After investing a significant amount of money and placing our trust in this builder, we expected a certain level of professionalism and attention to detail. Unfortunately, our experience has been nothing short of frustrating and disheartening. Firstly, the communication from Dennis Family Homes has been abysmal. We have reported massive maintenance issues with our new home, ranging from minor defects to major structural concerns. Despite reporting these problems promptly, the response from the company has been slow and inadequate. We have felt ignored and left in the dark throughout this entire process. The lack of accountability and follow-up from Dennis Family Homes has been extremely frustrating. We have had to constantly chase them for updates and resolutions, only to be met with empty promises and excuses. It is evident that their commitment to customer satisfaction ends as soon as the final payment is made. Furthermore, the attitude of the customer service representatives has been disappointing. Instead of showing empathy and a genuine willingness to address our concerns, they have been dismissive and unhelpful. It is disheartening to see a company that claims to prioritize customer satisfaction treat its customers with such disregard.

Overall, our experience with Dennis Family Homes after sales service has been a nightmare. The lack of communication, poor workmanship, and unprofessional attitude towards customer service have left us feeling incredibly frustrated and regretful of our decision to choose this builder.
