I am very disappointed with these shoes. The quality is far below expectations — after just a short period of use, the stitching started coming apart and the sole began to loosen. They are also quite uncomfortable, offering very little support for daily wear. Considering the price, I expected much better durability and comfort. Overall, this product does not deliver on its promises, and I would not recommend it to others.
I purchased a Dewalt table saw from Bunnings in Pymble on 10/2/2026 - model DWE 7491 XE. It’s fantastic. No complaints. It was sold with a special ‘Redemption’ offer of a free fold up stand for the table saw. Redemption means you have to show proof… Read more
to Dewalt Australia that you did purchase this item from Bunnings in- no problem here. Take a photo of the receipt and attach it to the Dewalt ‘Redemption’ section of their Aus website. Do you think I can get past a certain area to progress to receive this offer…. No way. You have to provide your information re contact - phone, email so they can put you on their mailing list….. but honour their offer is just too hard. I wrote a honest and polite review about this on their website but they told me the next day it didn’t ‘meet their guidelines’. I wrote “Great machine. Biggest letdown is the redemption process with Dewalt Aus to get the bonus stand when purchased through Bunnings. Bloody hopeless”. Nothing offensive here. Beware.
Follow-up · Update - 19/3/26 - my stand has been delivered. Thank you. I persisted with Dewalt’s redemption tab on their website & I finally decoded it…. 35mins later….i wont change my review rating. I love the product but their admin support for redemption is pathetic.
Their redemption offers are shady AF! November 2025, I purchased some Dewalt garden power tools with the redemption promo ads plastered all the site and with no obvious exclusions or anything listed that would indicate I couldn't take advantage of the offer. It basically just said "Spend over $1000, redeem for these extra goodies". So I logged… Read more
into their website, went through all the steps, it was all accepted and was advised it could be up to 6 weeks to get delivery. So I waited, and waited, and waited some more. After more than 3 months of waiting and no comms from Dewalt whatsoever, I chased them up via their support page. After a couple weeks someone got back to me and asked for a copy of my receipt (which I had already uploaded) so I sent them another copy. And I waited some more. Eventually they came back with "Sorry, those things weren't eligible." [Content Removed]!?!? And the problem was that by the time they got back to me, that particular promo had ended so I couldn't check the details. They do have a current similar redemption offer so I checked that. The thing I purchased was the DCMAS5713X1-XE. The "eligible" one on their list, hidden in the terms and conditions, is DCMAS5713N-XE. Just a couple letters different. Looks like they're pulling a Bunnings.
Don't get me wrong, I have LOTS of Dewalt tools and they've all been great. Never had any issues with any of them. However this experience with just how dodgy it all was and the crappy customer service just left a really bad taste in my mouth. They should make it much clearer as to what is and isn't eligible.

I have been Repairing battery tools for a while. I Can not buy Dewalt Parts in Australia. Some common problems with Nail Guns both Brad and Frame guns are the Driver (drive pin assembly). Dewalt drawers disappointing – Dewalt if you’re reading this, you’ve lost me on the Dewalt tough 2.0 system drawers. Lawn mower – I sent a lawn mower in for warranty as it wouldn't start, comes back 5 weeks later minus the height lever. Over 3 weeks still waiting for my new mower to be delivered. Disgraceful service would never recommend dewalt. Mind you still waiting for a phone call

No customer service. No service centres, apparently – A DeWalt battery that I bought less than a year ago just gave up. I contacted them and they told me to find a DW service centre. like DW tools, I won't be buying their batteries in future. Mind you, with no customer service I won't be buying their tools either.
Follow-up · I did find a solution. I bought an adapter so my DW tools now run on Ozito batteries. I've not yet had an Ozito battery fail , and I have a couple that are about ten years old. To be completely fair, my DW tools are all still doing well. But so are my Ozito tools.

the cost of a new clamp. I then contacted the Dewalt organisation in Australia who advised they did not stock any jaw pads and told me to source them elsewhere. It turns out they are not available in Australia. As I understand consumer law, companies must stock spare parts for several years particularly when a product is still being sold. I have several Dewalt battery powered tools and fear that if any of them break down spare parts would be unavailable causing me to bin them. Very obvious to any fair minded person that leadership is the issue at Dewalt. Don't think Dewalt is a wise choice for anyone bearing in mind the unavailability of spare parts and the attitude of management.
Follow-up · No reaction from Dewalt which typifies its contempt for customers. The clamp with the missing jaw has been disposed of.

A few years ago, Nov 22, I purchased a Dewalt Cordless Mini Blower. I wanted to start to add to my Cordless tool collection and have the same batteries to utilise. useless for its purpose. I have not overused it and, realistically, have had very little use. I contacted Dewalt to ascertain if they could do something to rectify this, as, following my research, this was a known issue for this item. The response was very unsatisfactory, extended, and really obvious that their service is focused on providing polite feedback and not resolving the issues. I had planned on building my outdoor cordless/battery tools around one brand (Dewalt), but now, I am certainly not, and I provide this feedback to assist others with their brand selection. Avoid Dewalt. They will not stand behind their products.
I have purchased many dewalt products over the last 6 months, products such as dewalt pole saw sold by the bike and brew at Maryborough QLD, has been fantastic and the battery operated pruners, batteries have long life and cannot fault the products at all, highly recommend.
The redemption offers are a total scam. I made a redemption claim in October. It is now March and nothing has arrived. It is very difficult to contact them. However I did find an email address. So I sent a follow up email in January. Again, come March. There has been no reply.
The worst after sale service and warrant imaginable – Atrocious after sale service. I bought a self propelled lawn mower August 2024. I used it 6 times when it failed to work due to a broken part. Terrible quality and warranty – I bought a drill driver. It lasted two yrs before the hammer drill wouldn’t turn off. Then the chuck just fell off. I had an extended warranty but DEWALT refused to honour the warranty. Giving various excuses. I won’t be buying DEWALT or Black and Decker ever again!

Eventually after years of waiting I decided to follow up this rediculous case, MPTR said they can't find any record of the warranty claim and said I should contact dewalt I called the dewalt service center in Australia and spoke to probably the rudest customer service person I have ever experienced. Firstly saying that the responsability is completely on MPTR. When I mentioned that dewalt sent me to this store via the information on the website, she proclaimed "we didn't tell you with our mouths" implying that the info on the website can't be trusted and its my fault for following it. Also telling me "you chose to go to that service center, you didn't have to use that one" Then finally "you took too long to follow up our mistake therefore too bad"

3 YEAR WARRANTY SCAM !!(ONLY 1 YEAR LIMITED)!! – Be Very careful when purchasing new cordless power tools from dewalt. Their 3 years warranty is a sham. This took about 18 weeks, numerous emails, re- submission of claim, including a further copy of receipt & photo shot of redemption claim. They really did not want to honour the redemption, but fortunately I had kept copies of all communications, so they had very few places left to go, & I was not going to give up on the crap.
Battery converters are relatively cheap, so when I change brands it will be cost effective to be able to use dewalt batteries until they die. A little extra weight on a tool is the only minor drawback . I'm totally disgusted with these clowns, & for anyone having similar problems with them, my best advice is not to give up. DeWalt don't send redemptions – DeWalt [aka: Stanley Black and Decker Australia] - The tools are fine though overpriced. However, the problem is when you need the redemption, they don't send them. I am still waiting after over 60 days when they state 45 days max in their terms and conditions.
No satisfaction with Dewalt – Bought battery operated chainsaw Dewalt cut a barrow load of wood went to use 2 months later wouldnt run chain would move forward and backwards about 5mm that was it .Rang tool store that sells dewalt and they told me that it was battery. Have contacted dewalt to request swapping battery swap instore, no response yet after 1 month.
Redemptions not honoured – Recently purchased around $2200 worth of Dewalt products as I had to get some new batteries etc. timing was good as there was a mower redemption if you spent over $2000. I have checked out the Stanley pruner skin on-line and despite differences in the body (an outer hand guard is the most obvious) it is much the same tool. (The Stanley pruner does not have the same battery shoe as the DeWalt skin.)
My reason for posting a "review" is that the Stanley branded pruner (skin) is listed online for $139 whilst the Dewalt (skin) cost $249 (Au $). Can't see a $110 difference in the extra plastic guard and led light that the Dewalt pruner has.
DeWalt, "Why is your pruner $110 dearer"?
****
So we can get used to seeing the Stanley name of DeWalt tools and if the name is not on the actual tool, check the small print on the printed material that comes with the tool.
But it raises a pertinent question? Why buy DeWalt when you can save money buying Stanley? And if the Stanley are much the same as a DeWalt - why shell out big money for other dear brands that compete with DeWalt?
I expect to see DeWalt products being pitched as of professional standard, and Stanley of home handy-man standard - but with 'speed of output' an essential element in manufacturing costs - will the products vary that greatly? Is it likely that the differences will be mostly cosmetic? I look forward to those YouTube channels that pull tools apart to provide us with definitive answers.

I have a son-in-law who is renovating a late 1880s home and he chose to buy Stanley battery tools for the money he saved in doing so. None of his Stanley's are duds. I have a corded Stanley reciprocating saw that I use to help remove very large tree roots after felling trees. It has never let me down and I have frequently lent it. At half the cost of a DeWalt at the time I bought it, if it fails I will buy another. It is 7 years old - running with no strange internal noises.
There-in lies the a potential repeated error found in this review site about Stanley-made DeWalt products being rubbish. Yes some Stanley-made tools will require servicing or replacement, just as DeWalt's will, but that does not mean "Stanley made DeWalt's" are rubbish. One would assume to get the DeWalt name placed onto them, the Stanley products must have satisfied a minimum level of design quality and production-line standards. It is in DeWalt's, the subsidiary, interest to ensure that products do.
**** To those review posters to this blog who have complained that servicing of Stanley made DeWalt's is near impossible because DeWalt want to pass the servicing over to Stanley -- remind your Big Box tool seller who actually owns DeWalt and tell them you are prepared to contact your Consumer Affairs Bureau. When you are waiting 3 months for repair turn around - contact your Bureau. If you don't, the issue wont get solved and it will happen to you again.
Part of the warranty repair issue with DeWalt is that they now do their warranty repairs in-house rather than outsource. As the company pays for return postage, they insist that Big Box tool stores do not return tools individually but in batches. Your tool can sit at your BB store for an extended before it is actually returned to DeWalt. If I have an issue I will use the Au telephone number provided on the tool and go direct.

Consumers in Australia, and other countries, should support talk in the EU to require all tool manufacturers to have the same shoe which means that all batteries can be made with the same shoe - meaning that tools can be fitted with any brand battery. (The EU have recently passed laws to require all electronic devices that use a USB port to use USB C type only - which means all phones, watches and cameras must use USB C for power and or data transfer in the future - even Apple who argued in court against the move but lost.)
Common battery shoes will lift the quality of manufacture and servicing of tools. Brands, or tools within brands, which have poor quality or lazy servicing will be abandoned by consumers.
Common shoes will allow companies that specialize in battery production (but do not make tools) to sell batteries to the open market rather than having to badge them to a tool company. It will lead to a drop in the retail prices paid for batteries.
(Note that THIRD PARTY adapter shoes to convert DeWalt batteries to Stanley skins can be bought on-online for about $20. [I looked this up after my discovery]. Neither company are likely to honour their warranty if you acknowledge you have used a third party shoe adapter when making a warranty claim.
But, as I am old enough to remember when some brands of transistor radio required owners to only use certain name-branded batteries, I don't believe the rubbish that another brand of battery used with a different brand tool will damage the tool - especially when they are brushless. Think about it - I can use an 18v battery on a pre-18v skin) Finally, this is not intended to be a review of Stanley or DeWalt tools. It is a commentary asking why a Stanley tool branded as a DeWalt should sell for $110 more that the Stanley type. It also seeks to improve awareness of the need for consumers to start demanding common battery shoes on power and garden tools.
Talk about the issue amongst your friends, group, club, church, working bee or men's shed. When someone tells you it will never happen, tell them about USB port reform in the EU. Some people in the EU said that will never happen.
Change happens when people start doing something. The Australian Productivity Commission has a Facebook page - use it. Next time you go past the office for your local member of parliament - step inside and leave a message with the receptionist. If you are a Tradie - tape a message "common battery shoes NOW" to the back of your ute or trailer. Replace the sign when it wears out. Otherwise - don't complain about high prices and poor servicing as YOU are part of the problem.

I am not giving up on DeWalt, but I have decided to swap to Stanley where a near-comparable tool exists in future. It is all the same company after all.
Great Brand – There are a lot of good “Trade Quality” tools on the market today And to be honest they’re all pretty good Unless you use these tools as a professional, day in day out, you’re not likely to be unhappy with anything you buy (that’s why you can find a positive review for every brand out there). I won’t set about comparing every brand and why to… Read more
pick one over the other, instead I thought I would just write a review about DeWalt and why I am happy with having them as my main tool line.
Pros: - Very hard working, trade quality tools - Good range/variety of tools - Technically less variety than Makita but Makita’s range is made of of making 5-10 versions of the same thing (I don’t care much for Makita, they make big claims about having the most variety but that just means you have to sort through their good vs. their bad tools) - Excellent ergonomics - Flexvolt batteries (gives you 18 or 54v power in one battery) - Increasing range of Flexvolt Advantage tools including in a Drill (DCD-999) - Sold in almost every hardware store which means there is price competition and sales (big advantage over a Bunnings only brand)
I could probably list more pros for you but that’s likely enough.
I use my tools much as you have described as well (not a tradie) and I would still go for trade quality every time. Ryobi is absolutely fine and does a good job for most things, is cheap and Bunnings replacement warranty is handy but when using the tools you can very much feel the difference when you are doing tougher work.
If you’re only ever going to do light work eg. indoor jobs into gyprock and stud or building small furniture, than go with something lighter and cheaper.
If you’re likely to have more variety use and at some point do some yeahier stuff with batten/bugle screws, building structures or landscaping (even in the future) than buy once and spend more.
Regarding price: I have bought all of my Dewalt tools on sale for prices less than most cheap brands including Ryobi, it takes a bit of patience and hunting but is always worth it. I get Bunnings to price match + 10% less whenever I can and that adds to the discount Amazon sells US items frequently at great prices (I got the DCD-999 for $197.00 AUD free shipping vs $379 local market) it’s a us model so says 20v but that’s same as 18v here and works great)
Warranty- 3yrs is fine with me and if it’s going to break from fault or excessive use it will do so in that time. More is generally marketing because they know it will last. Tools from Amazon US might not carry a warranty but for the price difference it’s generally still worth it and they last.
Other brands: Lots of other good brands but this is what I have, 2 tradie friends of mine (sparky and a bulidler) have full Milwaukee ecosystems and both wish they had gone Dewalt
