Dyson Table Fan AM01

Fan only worked for 3 summers !!! – AM01 - stopped working after 3 summers and when I tried to get it repaired Dyson had stopped making spare parts for this model. These fans are expensive and I would have thought the fan would last longer than it did and that spare parts are available a lot longer. Dyson offered me 25% off a latest model fan but still not worth value for money. I… Read more
am sitting in front of a $30 Bunning's fan which I have had for over 10 summers now and still going.
Haters gonna hate – After falling like a sucker for the gorgeous design, I've had one of these for some seven years now. It's been used every single night of the year (that I've been home) from summer through winter - admittedly as a white noise generator as much as to circulate air - without any hint of failing. When needed for typical fan-styled cooling it hasn't… Read more · 1
disappointed.
It does suck in a lot of dust, which is easily wipe-offable from the ring and holes, although I am concerned that the innards must be teeming with the stuff by now. There doesn't seem to be a way to check inside - a washable filter would have been nice in such an expensive product.
Anyway, unlike many I am very satisfied with this purchase.
Blinking blue light of nightmares – Product not value for money!! Would not recommend! After spending almost $300 to get this "not-fan", trusting Dyson's brand name and thinking it would be the most amazing way to cool myself without using an aircon, I realised it is probably the worst spending I've ever done. One, the amount of air that comes out of the "not fan" does not… Read more
warrant the amount of noise it generates. If you want a quiet night sleep with a gentle breeze, this is not the fan for you. It took me a month to get use to the noise it makes, and I still have to constantly readjust the product so the slight amount of air would blow my way. If you want strong breeze like the vortex fan, this is not for you, and this actually cost almost twice as a vortex fan.
Two, and the most important/irritating thing about this product, is a the blinking blue light. Basically, 3 out of the 5 times you want to use the fan, the blue light indicating that the fan is on, would start blinking and the product would not work. The only way to fix this problem is to reset it by turning the power source off and on. I REPEAT, you have to reset the power source in order to reset this amazing piece of engineering. This started happening after 2 months and it happens so frequently that, imagine you come back from a hot stinking day outside and want to cool down so you switch on your Dyson, it would not work 3 out of 5 times. Cmon now, this is a $300 piece of technology, you are telling me this is the only way it can operate 60% of the time?
After experiencing these problems, I went online and only then realise that this is a known problem to you guys for awhile now, and yet I was still sold the defected model. Do you not practice product recall?
Anyway, to summarise, this review may be a bit harsh and late, but it's a 30 degrees day today and I had to turn the power source off and on once again to operate this equipment and I am irritate. This is an extremely expensive piece of machine that only works 40% of the time, and it's loud for what it does. For the amount of money, you may as well purchase an air condition. I trusted your brand to deliver a good product, I would not ever do that again.
Would not recommend this to anyone. The value does not warrant the price of the product.
AM01 Relibility? – I found the reliability of the AM01 to be rubbish and expensive to repair, so far it has had a new motor and now looks like it needs another, horrible noise like bearings blown. My recommendation is go buy a stack of cheap fans, they also last longer. Dyson has lost me as a customer.
Disappointing quality. Could do with international warranty – I bought this in Ireland when I was living there in 2013. I brought this fan back with me and it worked for a year. When it was working it was really loud at the highest setting and frequently made a clunking sound as mentioned by one of the previous reviewers. I paid the exorbitant price tag for the design, innovation and to support the research… Read more
that went into developing it. But I also thought I was going to be given the famous Dyson quality and customer service too. Anyhow, the fan died (1.5 year into my European warranty) so I took it to the repair centre in Perth. My warranty doesn't work here and the repair cost $150, easily the price of 3-4 normal desk fans. At least there's no clunking noise (yet!) and the repair comes with another 2 year warranty. Still disappointed by this Dyson fan though. Too expensive for less than two year lifespan and pricey repair. The new model seems much quieter though but I'm not sure I'm ready to buy another Dyson fan ever.

Dyson Fan 300 mm – AM06 300mm - I love the nonintrusive design. It is quiet when not oscillating...once it is on, it gives from time to time some strange noises...I thought it was my dog snoring....

Do not get this fan! – Its loud/ expensive/ doesn't blow as well as a 30 dollar fan. When its hot, it blows out hot air - it is quite horrible.
Noisy, bad build quality – I have only had this two weeks and not only is it noisy, there is now a clunking sound when at even a low setting. So disappointed. It looks nice but the quality is just not good enough for a very expensive fan. Never again.

Dyson bladeless fan- a con! – Anyone considering buying a blade less fan I'd urge you to reconsider spending $500 on a substandard fan. We got sucked in (all fans work well in an air conditioned shop!!) But when we got it home it it was so noisy and when on the low settings which were sufficiently quiet, it did absolutely nothing! You can email/ring Dyson to complain- they… Read more
will muck you around for 17 days only to tell you tough luck. Our cheapo fan from Bunnings is both quieter and cooler- I'd recommend that any day! I'll post this on as many review sites as possible so no one else makes the same mistake!

Unique Design but Loud – I love the brand but the fan I only can rate OK because...it wasn't as good as I expect. [Performance against Price against safety] I think the vacuum cleaner more worth than buying the fan. it doesn't have blade so safe for the kids and my bird actually, that is main reason why I bought this. I don't worry my kid and my pet approach to the… Read more
fan, very safe.
We bought this more than 2 years now the Switch not working properly. The power Switch is flashing so I have to unplug my power and re connect again. The fan is loud so you can't use the max when u sleep as they sounds like wanna explode. The power switch is dent into the machine , still working but look like broken, for the designer brand I feel a bit...it costs alot but doesn't seems worth.
The product is not durable. Safe for kids, easy to clean, easy to use. Loud, expensive

it's loud... What did you say? ... I SAID: IT'S LOUD!! – Ignore the rhetoric about "buffeting". This is really some desperate marketing going on. Here's what you need to know: Just like their vacuums and hand dryers these units are really loud. Way too loud to sleep with, and almost too loud to have on while watching the TV. These fans have an interesting look. And no blades is great if you have an… Read more
errant child who seems determined to remove his own fingers. But the cost to value ratio is what kills it.
For a company that prides it self on "design" ... the sound level of this unit should have sent it back to the drawing board. Instead you get "no buffeting" .... a solution in search of a problem if ever there was one. Sexy. No blades. It's LOUD!!
Never, ever again! – I purchased two AM 01 units in December 2012. One used in each of my two occupied bedrooms and running through the night pretty much all year. One failed within 4 months and a replacement unit was sent to me (without a serial number). The replacement unit and the original second unit failed in December 2013. Both were hand delivered to the Dyson… Read more
Service Centre on December 27th. A month later, 2 units arrived back at my home today. One was filthy, the other was the unit without a serial number. I'll be returning them to the Service Centre tomorrow for explanation but if unsatisfactory, I'll be returning the units to the point of purchase and demanding a full refund. The two Kambrook fans I purchased on December 28th 2013 for A$39 each are working a treat. I'll never buy or recommend a Dyson product. Unique design. Promising. Not worth the money or the hassle when it fails.

Terrible and expensive – The Dyson fans are not worth their very expensive price tag. They are noisy and have no remotes to use in bed. Don't waste your money buying them even though they are safe with children. Use your well earned money on a cheaper fan and lots of other things. Do not buy one.

Awful Dyson Post Sale Service – I purchased a Dyson table Air Multiplier fan in late December 2012. After using the product a few times in January I noticed it was making a terrible grinding sound when oscillating as we'll as an intermittent vibrating noise. I took the fan back to the Good Guys mid January and was told to ring Dyson. I then rang Dyson and the customer service… Read more
rep said it was very unusual and I could send the fan back, postage paid and they would look at it. The fan was posted back via snail mail, fixed and posted back by snail mail. This take me to mid February, I was happy to get the fan back thinking yay I can finally use it, I open the box and the fan is scratched on the base and on the circular part. Another call to Dyson, this time I asked for a refund and was told no, they would fix it, I refused and said I wanted the unit replaced with a new unit considering it was a new purchase. Off we go snail mail again, fan comes back a month later, now it's March, I open it and its a different colour. Rang customer service, they didn't have white fans so sent me a silver one and forgot to call me to see if that was okay. No it's not okay, so I sent it back, no offer to send it more quickly through express post, so it goes snail mail again. I then insist on a full refund which is finally granted. Guess what it's now May and no refund. Apparently no one signed the dangerous goods declaration on the express post envelope. I asked for the contact details of a manager and was told a week ago someone would call. No call no manager details and three and a half months after lodging initial service issue still no resolution. Dyson never again.
Noisy and was returned damaged after being serviced

Very effective and funky looking! – I love this fan, I mean 'air multiplier'. It is super quiet and blows out a heap of cool air. I really like the dimmer style switch to adjust it from low through to high air output. I also like the smooth air flow and especially love the fact that there are no blades. With small children, one lives in fear of little fingers being poked into… Read more · 1
regular fans, so it is wonderful to know that I can switch it on and not worry. The only thing that I don't like about it is that I would like to pack it away back in its box, but I am finding it awkward to pull apart - maybe I'm not being firm enough with it! No blades, Dimmer style speed control, Looks great, Very effective Bit awkward to pull apart again
Brilliant desk fan – Purchased this fan for work and it is exactly what I needed. I have lots of paperwork on my desk and the lack of buffeting plus the accurate delivery of airflow means my papers stay where I put them. No other fan does this. Love the variable speed control too. Yes it is expensive but when you are spending 40 to 50 hours a week at work it… Read more · 1
becomes well worth the money to get the right tool for the job. It looks great too. Design, air flow, lack of buffeting
Dyson circle fan – This fan is a sleek modern looking efficient fan that is compact and has a very stylish appearance. It comes in a choice of colour to suit most decore. It's very quiet which makes it ideal for bedrooms. This fan is ideal for any room in the house. It is unfortunately a bit pricey but still cheaper them air conditioners . Quiet and stylish Expensive
Cool – After seeing so many cheap and not so cheap fans headed for landfill I decided I wanted something to last. I looked into the tower fans but the reviews weren't so good. I really had my heart set on the Dyson, but did my research first. I managed to find it on sale and got about $60 off so bit the bullet and pulled out my credit card. So glad I… Read more
did, I spend most of yesterday sitting in front of it, escaping this heat wave.
I love how it looks, but more importantly how it works.
The control is great, instead of 3 settings you get a dial that can go right down to a soft breeze up to a quite strong gust of air and anywhere in between, but always smooth.
It's lightweight, as it's made almost entirely of plastic which is good as I live on the beach and steel and chrome fans rust within a year.
My partner and I were sitting on the lounge with the fan on the coffee table and had it on rotate, but I found that by leaving it facing forward it cooled us both down better.
I'm not dreading having to clean it at the end and beginning of each summer. The salesman mentioned that it's best to make sure the vents on the base are kept dust free, so I'll keep that in mind, but brushing those off and wiping the ring will be nothing compared to pulling apart a regular fan and washing the blades and frame then putting it back together again.
My other fan has about 1 summer left in it, next year it will also be replaced by an Air Multiplier. Keeps me cool, works well, looks good, light, will be easy to clean Expensive, but I guess you get what you pay for
Intriguing fan – Dyson made a good impression as far as design, innovation and safety issues of a mechanical fan. It is not as powerful neither the bladed nor the centrifugal fans out there and literally you got to be close to it to feel the breeze, ideal for bedrooms nearby, or on top of a table doing computer task as such...The only downside is the asking… Read more
price..I won't hesitate getting curious bout this fan everytime i encounter on most stores but it makes me think twice how to value a necessity over aesthetics. It could have set off other cooling manufacturers out there, but over $300 plus tax should i expect atleast aluminum made appliance and not $10 plastic...Dyson perhaps made their potential buyers same way that i do...Dyson! Be like Samsung or think like Samsung! Safety, quite Price, reliability

Good – I give it four points, because it is really safe for children. I got a 15months old baby. I really can not use an ordinary fan as she always try to put her finger in. I do not need to worry about it when using air multiplier. Great Look, safe for children, easy to clean (so far). High quality plastics. The wind is not coming out from no where.… Read more
There's actually a channel along the edge of the circumference. The wind is produced inside. It can be noisy, depends on which mode are you using. There's not as much as wind produced by a ordinary fan. It seems this product is over valued, after you play it for half an hour.
No Blades, no worries – Purchased this item from the safety aspect of no blades. This is not a primary house cooler but rather a spot area. When used with this in mind it is extremely effective and efficient "electric cooler". A compact unit which pushes out a great volume of air.
Perfect – Another well designed Dyson product. We've had it for over a year now and it's the only portable fan we use. It's perfect - safe, unobtrusive, easy to clean and use. The only problem with it is the remote sensor on the unit is very low so if you are sitting down at a table, or there are objects in front of you, then you have to stand and move… Read more
to operate the fan but that's such a #firstworldproblem for most of us. :) I thought it was worth mentioning though just in case someone with a mobility issue needs to take that into consideration. Reliable, effective, easy to clean, safe, light, Expensive but worth it, remote sensor is very low

Dyson brand speaks for itself - Perfect! – I was really over normal pedestal fans - always seeing dust. The dyson works perfectly next to ajar window in the evening, drawing in the cool air. It's very easy to clean - just wipe over with a damp cloth. It has a remote control with the speed, swivel control and power on/off. Great for when your half asleep and want to turn the fan off. are really enjoying just have a light air flow without being blown away with your normal ped fan's only have 5 speeds. The dyson has a turn dial resulting in whatever speed you would like.
Yes it is expensive in the FAN category however it's well worth it. Quiet, versatile and a beautiful stylish fan The blue power light is really bright at night and a bit expensive
Terrible – My husband bought me this for my study for my birthday so I have no idea how much it was. To begin with I thought it was excellent but I have a thermometer in the room and every time I used the fan I noticed that the temperature in the room rose by a degree or two. I also used it when it was quite hot (35+) and found that after a while the air… Read more
coming out from it was actually warm and not cold. Neither if these were what I needed so the fan has now been banished to the open plan area and now is barely used.
What a waste of money looks good, easy to clean, novelty ! Raised the room temperature, didn't cool air when hot

Good – I claimed this from credit card rewards, so I'm happy I didn't have to pay for it. It's terribly overpriced for what it is. However, I do value (very highly!) that it is safe to use around young kids since I have a toddler at home. I never have to worry that he'll stick his fingers somewhere that'll hurt him. The airflow is average. We… Read more
don't turn it up to the max setting since it can get quite noisy. Lightweight (easy to relocate); simple design (easy to clean); NO BLADES (safe around kids) Definitely overpriced
Good – I bought the AM03 at $390 which is a huge discount from $599 and I still think is still over priced. Comes with 2 years manufacturer warranty which I would think they could even afford to give 5 years for the price you are paying to be honest. The looks of this invention is marvellous, I can see why is unique and cool. Dyson has stepped up the… Read more
benchmark for fan makers to make things so much easier to clean. I would have enjoyed this fan being priced at $250 while the smaller ones at under $150 to target the general market.
Tilting of the fan is simple, assembly and diassembly is very easy. Comes with a cool remote control that sticks to the top of the fan using magnetic technology.
Down sides are that it has no timer setting, for what the fan cost I think it should. The fan can be noisy and in my opinion even louder than normal fans at high settings. Some people like to say "cheap plastic" which is why the cost is too high.
But I like to emphasise that it is very safe around children. The safety feature is the key to this product. followed by how easy is it to clean. The price is very high.
Great fan for those with kids - no blades – This fan cools down large open plan rooms efficiently. There is no need to worry about little fingers or items getting hurt or ruined with this fan as there are no blades. The strong force of air ensure even the hottest days are bearable. A great feature is the option of how strong the air coming out is as well as the ability for the fan… Read more
to move in a side to side fashion, offering the cool air to be distributed evenly around the room Great in cooling large rooms, multiple settings to suit the temprature required, motion Hard to keep clean of dust
Good – you do have to be about a metre away from it to not get the buffeting effect bladed fans get, does get very cold, very neat design and and easy to keep clean without having to dismantle it, very safe to have around children, only thing i miss about the bladed fans is if you talk into it, you get a funny voice..... lol great design, very attrative,… Read more
quiet, very safe!,no messy blades to clean, can adjust the speed and have it tilting and oscillation at a 90 degree angle. easy to knock over if in the wrong place, cant feel the air directly in the middle
Good – This is a great fan to use in the bedroom. - No stupid, annoying, rattling noises! It's also excellent for use around children and animals, as it has no blades for them to get caught in. I would like a little more airflow but on the whole it is a great gadget, especially as it can easily be put just about anywhere, unlike a standard pedestal fan. Quiet, small, awesome quality. Not as much airflow as I would like. Expensive.
