Yes I purchased an item in first week if November 2023 as a Christmas present. The ETA was 22nd November 2023, which seemed too early, but better that it arrives to the recipient early and starts the pile of gifts that are waiting for 25th December. The seller tells me that they have decided to upgrade the shipping service so I will find that it will arrive much earlier than the estimated date.
A few days before Christmas, the item still hadn't arrived so I sent a Christmas card (via an online custom card service) and included a link to an egift voucher for the value of the gift that had not arrived.
I fully expected that eBay guarantee would refund me because the item had not arrived.
I put my claim in. The eBay claim wasn't going to be instantaneous because the seller was making excuses. So I am out of pocket until I get the refund.
The eBay claim is bouncing back and forth and then a day before Christmas a shipping update is received. I am expected to wait a bit longer.
Seriously, it is too late and I already replaced the gift out of necessity.
Ten days after Christmas (so we are now January 2024) the item from eBay is dropped off at a post office. I wanted it to be returned to sender because I was claiming the refund, but I wasn't in control and the recipient received a notice from the Post Office to pick up the parcel.
The sender had my claim to eBay cancelled on the basis that the item was delivered successfully.
I disagree.... I am out of pocket.... I wasted a lot of time messaging back and forth.
So I will delay my next few purchases from eBay until I have satisfied my wallet that it has recovered from the double dipping/ loss.
Same here, this was the first time I purchased from eBay and got disappointed. I am not sure whether I would purchase anything from eBay again. To my surprise, eBay didn’t even respond to my many emails
ebay wont care. if the item is eventually delivered, they close refund requests regardless of them being late in my experience. however once, I had a late delivery and it arrived damaged. If the seller sends a return label to return the item, you should get your money back as soon as it arrives back in the senders hand without the sender having to do anything. Just dont accept a ebay voucher as a refund. It's too risky cause if another item you buy with that voucher doesn't arrive, you wont get your original money back and ebay will keep it. Just ask the seller for a return label or talk to their customer service to initiate the return. Sellers take more notice of ebay asking than they will from you. Final tip, use the online chat over talking to ebay over the phone. You dont get a history of the conversation over the phone but you do in the chat.
Has anyone been receiving FAKE invoices using your Ebay/PayPal email address to purchase items on eBay that are over $500 ? I have received 3 scam invoices saying it's from recent eBay purchase's and they do have my PayPal email address correct but the name and address is showing a different people and different address's which are not me as I know I have not been buying anything, the last invoice today had the eBay's head office as the address to ship the item too, I tried calling the head office and they do not have anyone avail to pick up the phone, they should for this type of thing as I have been sending eBay a copy of these FAKE invoices and they don't seem to be doing anything about it. I am concerned and have reported it to the authorities, but I would like to see action.
If it's to your mobile phone number it's definitely a scam don't open the link below. I repeat its definitely a scammer either trying to give your device model a bad virus transmitted or perhaps even trying to steal your personal information if eBay classifieds services doesn't contact you directly online..
No they keep sending the fake invoices to my email address and there are no links, it’s just invoices showing my PayPal email address and saying what has been purchased online and it’s always the same item for over $1,500 some invoices actually had names and addresses of people ( not me though) but all my personal information has been stolen anyway my drivers license Medicare card etc all been taken in the Optus data breach from 18 months ago and I been getting hounded every week if not twice a week since then with texts calls emails etc even my family has been getting things supposedly from me and they are also over it.

A high majority of the sellers on eBay classifieds services provide a tracking number . If haven't got one a high majority of the times it's someone else who isn't honest or possibly forgot to upload it. Can Go to eBay purchases open Up And place contact the sender immediately. They should get back to you within a few days a high majority of the times

Can anyone tell me, can Fair trading do anything with ebay Australia? I would imagine they are under the same laws as any other company with au in thier website name?
They are under the same laws but accc would need to record a large number of similar complaints against eBay before they would investigate
You'd think so but ACCC don't seem much interested. Which is surprising given how much difficulty the Aus government has had ensuring ebay actually pays tax. You'd think they'd be all over them like a rash.
They are a horrible company
I sell on Ebay and they have been consistently overcharging me on postage fees. I contacted them each week with a summary of the overcharging but never received a response. Finally someone from customer service got back to me last week, and said because they overcharging claims go back so far (ie 6 months) there is nothing he can do about them. Surely I can't be the only one getting ripped off like this?

Did you know that if you pay for an eBay purchase by a bank credit or debit card, your bank will reverse the transaction so long as you can show you have done your best to get satisfaction, either with an unsatisfactory or its warranty?
Well Bridgette Pce, it just happened to me. I bought a big freezer with a 12 month warranty for $1050 on my debit card. What I got was one that broke down after 5 months and they refused to honour the warranty.
I showed the bank (Bendigo) all the Seller emails and call transcripts plus eBay’s online response after 30 days is to “contact the seller to work things out”. A few days later the $1050 was back in my account, too easy and you can verify it at my EUROTAG review here.
No. I did not know this and I find it a little difficult to believe. Could you please give an example of an actual case please. How could they reverse the credit if the payment was already received by the seller. I dont think the Bank can go into their sellers bank account and retrieve it. Therefore, for the payment to come from the Bank's benevolence seems a pretty long bow for me. Also, is there a limit on the amount they will reverse and is there a time frame? Sometimes trying to get some satisfaction , with all the backwards and forwards, can take up to a month which may render the assistance out of time.
I am a seller . not the buyer. i give this review because ebay do not follow their own policies to protect seller. they deduct my fund without and refunded the buyer any notification .
Bought $2200 mobile phone on EBay and seller sent me a photo only. Reported matter to police fraud squad for investigation who advised to report matter to bank to stop payment. Once I went to bank EBay walked away. Eventually I got refund only from PayPal and only because I paid seller through them. EBay has only one loyalty and that is to the seller who pays them commission. Corrupt sellers then hide under the umbrella of EBay who refuse to identify them or their location. Try Ali Express - although they are a bit slow on delivery they are credible for mine.

Simply a one off gesture of goodwill by the bank. Ring them and ask if they do that all of the time.
Has anyone tried to take legal action or complain to fair trading about this dishonest corrupt company.
I’ve been told since they are an o’seas owned and based company, I cannot even lodge a complaint with Consumer affairs..
Which is rubbish because as they operate in Australia, eBay is subject to Australian consumer laws. HOWEVER, and here's teh catch, if you are having troubles with a seller located overseas, that seller is NOT subject tio those laws (or at least they are in no way enforceable).
why goverment need seller id. what they need is ebay response to the law, i think they did support someone sell illegal product and ignore report feedback from customer too.
I noticed there is an offshore supervisor that doesn't like buyers when there is an issue he calls buyers and pretend he is helping to resolve the matter then the next thing he suspends buyers account.

You can still leave feedback on eBay unless of course the seller has disappeared suddenly with your money.

I had the same problem, even when the shipping company confirmed they delivered to the wrong address, ebay was still siding with the seller.

I feel it is because they are there for the seller only. They provide a token support to the buyer for 30 days after purchase, after that, they don't want to have anything to do with you. I have only been able to communicate with them by online chat, after you get past the BOT!

The eBay 'Help' access is a tiny font right at the bottom. It will try to get you to read their useless 'what to do' self-help . I just ignore all that and just keep searching to find the 'CHAT NOW' function from which I usually get helped over a problem, either as a buyer or as a seller. However the whole 'help' system is designed to send you in circles and frustrate buyers and sellers. Also their web pages are continually *ucked with to make it hard to negotiate if help is needed or even just to buy or sell. Currently selling commission is roughly 12%, and yes, always check where sellers are really located, many who say they are in Australia and even give a City in Oz, are really in China, which makes dealing with issues very difficult if not impossible. I have started buying from Aliexpress, yes, from China but sellers do not get paid until the buyer accepts and confirms delivery, they also can get the flick from the platform if too many negative feedbacks,
Thank you Sunshine. You are absolutely right. I try not to buy from ebay anymore because of the problems you have highlighted in your post. I really don't like online sales because of the problems. I would rather go to a store but Australia has limited products and choices so really we are really in a difficult position.

Why does Productreview not change the rating system. The way that companies and products are rated on here is ridiculous EBay for example has 1400 negative comments and scores 1.8, that is rubbish and meaningless and does not reflect how bad they are!

I’ve been ripped off twice now on eBay just recently and live chat is no help they don’t seem to understand anything I’m saying it’s frustrating but I’m told through the live chat that due to Covid They aren’t taking calls.. I don’t know how Covid effects phone calls... seems very strange.. eBay has really gone down hill, I remember being able to speak to very helpful people from eBay in the past That resolved issues on the spot. Hi Tara 02 8288 0466, his name is Troy, he actually tries to help . I got ripped off $6600.00 in fees for a deactivated shop. After deactivating it and deleting the products if you don’t do it a certain way that’s not shown to you it repopulates itself and you get charged for insertion fees for a deactivated shop. Gd luck

TRY to ge accc to take action RE :::Compensation includes the cost to you caused by a problem with products or services. This is usually financial costs, but can include other costs such as lost time or productivity.
It can be hard to put a dollar figure on compensation for damages and loss. Compensation should put you in the position you would have been in if the products or services had done what they are supposed to under consumer guarantees.
I used powerhigh-us and bought some bags which fell apart they have great reviews but heaps of negative reviews and feedbacks .I have been emailing back and forth to this chinese company and tell me to keep checking my account but not refunding my $5 .its been the biggest waste of time .please do not support this company dodgy and wont give me proof of payment.thanks for listening.
If the product is faulty try contacting ebay. Chances are they won't do anything but you can then tell your bank you tried and issue a chargeback.

How do I go about making a complaint re: winning Bidders neglecting to follow through with buying an item. It’s happened twice now and they just get away with it. I can’t even leave negative feedback warning others of the way they conduct business..... ridiculous! At least 8 other bidders have missed out on buying my daughters bed. The first time this happened I had to cancel the order myself and you gave the buyer 10 days to approve the cancellations even though he’d ghosted me. I wanted to re:list it so we could get it sold and it appears it’s happened again. How are they allowed to get away with this..... it’s rubbish! I will not use EBAY ever again, it’s an inconvenience
I believe everyone is on a 3 strike rule, select the option that the buyer failed to pay when you re-list, counts as 1 strike. You can block users from bidding on your items who failed to pay ( 2+ non pays within 12 months )
I want to contact ebay about a dispute but it seems impossible to contact them either by phone, email or any other method? What is going on with ebay customer service? It never used to be like this.

I've called customer service several times over the past few weeks and have always gotten a reply. Unless something has changed within the past week, they do have customer service. I have always found them helpful although there are times a CSR did not have knowledge of my specific issue. In those cases, they passed me on to a specialist who could handle the more complex issue.
Click on help and start a chat. My experience is the customer service representatives aren’t from Australia and are next to useless, so demand to speak with a Supervisor. It’s your only chance!

Why is E-Bay having double standards with Sanitisers? Just type sanitizers into the search field and there may for sale. How come we are not allowed to sell on E-Bay. This is double standards by Ebay.
It's to prevent price gouging. What happened in Australia was people were buying up all the face masks, toilet paper and hand sanitizers from the shops and then selling them online at super inflated prices to take advantage of the Covid19 crisis and make a huge profit. The hoarding of products by certain groups of people meant that there were no products left for everyday people who needed the products to use - not to sell online and make a profit off. Unfortunately the greedy people ruined it for other sellers who genuinely wanted to sell their products on EBay at regular prices. After the crisis ends, I think EBay will allow sanitizers to be sold on their platform again although I don't know for sure. If Ebay is allowing some of their big sellers to sell hand sanitizers but not little sellers then that is obviously very unfair and you could challenge their decision by complaining to your countries consumer affairs department.
KatieSarkis, This action was taken by ebay across the board, there was no distinction between professional sellers of medical devices and supplies such as ourselves (8 years on ebay) and other small time sellers trying to make a quick buck. Our listings which were the top performing in Australia for many years were decimated, and ebay even removed the only product tested and guaranteed to kill Covid19 in 60 seconds - Universal Wipes. This happened after we made very large orders to accommodate the extra demand so we are now stuck with massive quantities of stock. Furthermore it is standard practive for ebay to remove items for any reason whatsoever, even when they are not in violation of any policy. Once removed all the years of hard work to accumulate a powerful sales history can never be repaired. This happens constantly to us, and I think it is deliberately designed to destroy the top selling listings in order to force all sellers into the 'promoted listings' rat-race whereby sellers are forced to compete for the top search results by paying ebay most of their profit in what amounts to an auction, instead of actually earning that position.. it's I diabolical theft of profits and an unbelievable deception of buyers and sellers. It has happened to us countless times, sellers who stand out above the rest are punished and their businesses are cut down to size. I had a stockbroker friend who explained the strategy to me, they don't want anyone making too much money or succeeding too much, they want as many sellers as possible flooding the site and constantly scrambling desperately over each other trying to 'make it', meanwhile ebay pockets the maximum possible profits on every transaction. Do you know ebay makes it possible to promote your items at 100%!?? This means that you would pay ebay 112.9% of your entire sale value, so it's possible to lose more money than the item costs when sold before you even send it.. and people do this just to boost their items up the search results!!! THIS IS EBAY.

Buying anything on eBay is a risk. It's full of scammers.
don't buy expensive goods on Ebay, you'll be scammed most likely.
It's funny how ebay sends you emails to send feedback and when You do does no show, now after I have read other people having the same problem makes sense why the seller I am having problem with it has very high rating, ebay has change no more
